The Night Shift Season 4 Episode 10 Review: Resurgence

Did we just witness the end of The Night Shift?
We may not know the answer to that question for awhile, but if that was the end, at least we received a satisfying conclusion.
The Night Shift Season 4 Episode 10 took several of our doctors on their own separate journeys, while still leaving the door open for all of them to come back home.
The hospital sure must be short staffed. TC may be filling in for Drew while he's in Ranger school, but who's filling in for Paul and Shannon? Let's not forget Cain left without any warning as well. It's weird that Drew couldn't leave without someone to replace him, but it's okay for everyone else just to take off.
Regardless, Drew received another opportunity to fulfill his dreams, and he did so with the complete support of his husband. That easily could have gone the other way. Drew applied without even telling Rick. If he'd been angry and upset for not being included in his decision, he'd have every right to be.
But, Rick and Drew love and support each other completely. Instead of getting mad, Rick knew this was just something Drew needed to do, and he wasn't going to stand in his way.
While this is a drama and throwing a wrench into their relationship would have been easy, I appreciate that the writers didn't go there. Granted, part of that could be the uncertainty of the show's future. It would have been just plain mean to leave them at odds with the possibility of cancellation looming.
It's disappointing we didn't get to see more of Brianna or the three of them as a family, but at least we saw them grow as a couple. Their relationship is stronger than ever.
It was probably hard for Drew to leave, especially after building a rapport with the new trainee, Reagan. If the show is renewed, hopefully, she comes back. They already have a great mentor/mentee relationship building.
Reagan: Thanks for a hell of a first day, Sir.
Drew: Oh, don't thank me yet Lieutenant. You're cleaning blood out of all of the ambulances.
Reagan: Really?
Drew: That'd be "really, sir" and I want them gleaming.
Paul embarks on his own journey of self-discovery after it occurs to him that he's surrounded by men and women who have served, and the best he can come up with is holding his own during the riot downtown.
It seems likely that if the show comes back, it'll pick up with everyone back home from their various excursions, but we'll need some flashbacks of Paul in Syria.
I'm not saying he can't hack it, but there's going to be an adjustment period, and some of that could be pretty entertaining to see.
It'll be more interesting to see how the experience changes him, and how it affects the way he lives his life and does his job when he gets home.
Paul has always had a certain innocence about him. While he's sure to grow from the experience, it would be sad if he loses that.
While Paul has embraced the hospital's shift to combat training, Shannon runs in the opposite direction.
Jordan: Is this about your evaluation?
Shannon: No, this is about this place becoming a war zone. Doctors repelling from helicopters, running into burning buildings...a few hours ago I was in freaking body armor. That's not why I became a doctor.
Who can blame her? The hospital has gone through immense changes, and she's not sure it's the right fit for her. There's nothing wrong with that despite Paul and Jordan trying to convince her she can adapt.
Sure she can adapt, but that doesn't mean she has to.
Jordan's compromise to let her return to the reservation for a few weeks is a nice gesture. Well, more a peace offering. While Drew and Paul are certain to come back, Shannon's status is up in the air. She needs to do what's best for her, even if it means disappointing people she loves.
Sometimes disappointing the people you love is a part of life. It sucks, but it's your life. You have to do what's right for you.

Jordan and TC. Honestly, where to begin?
The two have been dancing around each other ever since they broke up. Now that he's decided to stay behind, in essence choosing Jordan over Amira, will they get back together?
Jordan: I will always love TC, but I'm not in love with him.
Amira: You really think there's a difference? Bloody Americans.
Jordan claims she's not in love with him anymore, but Amira's not buying it, and neither are we. That whole "San Antonio needs you too" metaphor couldn't have been clearer. She needs him there, and not just to help with training the medics.
If Paul hadn't given TC an easy out, would he have still stayed? I think he would have, because home is where the heart is, and his heart is with Jordan.
But, that doesn't mean we need to see them jump back into a relationship right away either.
Jill Flint recently told us that she would like to see Jordan single for awhile, and I completely agree with that sentiment.
If TC and Jordan are the end game, let them take their time getting there. We've never really had a chance to experience Jordan single for any real length of time.
Well, if this is the end, do you feel satisfied? Are you happy with the direction the series is going with the hospital becoming a combat training zone?
Will Paul come back hardened? Will Shannon come back at all? We're left with plenty of questions, and we may never get answers, but here's hoping The Night Shift is renewed.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm not ready to let it go. There are still plenty more stories to tell.
