The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 3 Review: Miss Rebecca Thrall

at .

Glen is the man.

For all the seasons that Red barely tolerated Glen, it was great to see Red show Glen some respect on The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 3

Glen deserved that beer and hot dog because he basically saved Red's ass without hesitation. And the toast he received from Red was the greatest moment of the entire hour.

Friends - The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 3

Wouldn't it be great if Glen got a seat at Red's table? He certainly deserves it after loaning Red the money to make the gun deal.

It would have been easy for Glen to turn his back on Red. He didn't owe him anything and considering Red's current situation, Red posed no threat to him either.

But Glen is a good guy and has always bent over backward to get Red what he needed. That's why it was so much fun to see Glen in a new role in Red's world.

Meeting with the gun dealer didn't even phase him. He acted like he had done it a million times before, and who knows, maybe he has.

Elephant Runway - The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 3

I'm surprised Red actually let Glen into the meeting, but a desperate man will do anything, and Red is pretty desperate at this point.

But Glen didn't disappoint. He brought the money and his snark and saved the day.

What would Red have done if Glen hadn't lent him the million dollars? He would have found another way, I'm sure, but it would have created some serious complications.

Bringing Tom on board was an interesting choice. Is he trying to keep Tom close or trying to make an effort to get along with Tom for Liz's benefit?

She liked the idea of them working together, but the two still don't trust each other, though it did seem like Tom felt a bit guilty after the job was done and he got the call from Nik.

Tom was truly impressed with Red's scheme in the end. Who wouldn't be? It was positively brilliant. Not only did he get the guns he needed to fend off a former enemy, but he got a plane to boot.

Gun Deal - The Blacklist

And who didn't love Smokey using the elephants to clear the landing field?

Red's got himself quite a team, and his empire is coming along quite nicely.

Tom got one step closer to finding out who the bones belonged to. Nik had a guy who was willing to help them. Their meeting was a little odd, but Nik sorted it out.

Getting DNA was a long shot, but the guy was able to get it from a tooth, so it seems we might be finding out about the bones sooner rather than later. At least it seems that way.

While I've enjoyed the daddy/daughter team dynamic the past couple of episodes it was nice to have a break from Liz's overenthusiasm at everything Red has been doing.

Ressler and Harold - The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 3

She needed to get back to doing her job, and she did it quite efficiently this hour, even if the Rebecca Thrall storyline was a bit boring.

It was odd when Liz told Ressler to take care of whatever business he had when they were questioning Scott's family.

Doesn't she remember all the times Ressler let her have time in order to figure out things with Tom and her dad?

Sometimes she just gets on my nerves, and this was one of those times. I feel like she's living in lala land, especially when she was so thrilled at Tom and Red working together.

Is she that desperate for a perfect family that she is willing to overlook the dysfunctionality of it all?

Ressler being held hostage by Prescott is annoying, and I hope that storyline dies soon. It's uncanny that Red offered Ressler his services, and it wouldn't surprise me if Red has an inkling that something is going on even though he might not know specifics.

But it doesn't seem that Ressler has any interest in letting Red help him, at least not yet. Somehow that body in the car is going to come back to bite Ressler and that may be when he turns to Red for help. The sooner Prescott goes, the happier I'll be.

Over to you. What did you think of "Miss Rebecca Thrall"? Will Ressler seek Red's help to get out of his sticky situation?

Will Glen become part of Red's team? How soon before Red learns the truth about Tom and the suitcase?

The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 3 Quotes

Ressler: I know this isn't politically correct right now to say this, but cops don't kill people they protect them.
Harold: Most of them do. The ones that let anger and emotion, prejudice and carelessness affect their behavior are every good cop's worst nightmare.

By the way, what's with the boots? You guys do a lot of riding?
