Prison Break Season 6: Actually in the Works!

Prison Break may well be the show that doesn't die.

Series star, Dominic Purcell has hit up Instagram earlier this with a post that certainly makes it seem like the show is anything but over.

The show was initially cancelled in 2009 after four seasons, but fans were not impressed with the original ending.

If you watch Prison Break online, you will know that Michael was killed off in a last minute rush to bring closure to the series.

It resulted in one of the most polarizing series finales around, but Fox opted to bring the show back almost eight years later to give fans still clamouring for a more rounded finale the closure they deserved.

The ratings were not through the roof, but Prison Break Season 5 ultimately averaged 2.6 million viewers and a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49.

The show got a sizeable bump with delayed viewing, so more episodes were never really out of the question as far as ratings were concerned.

However, the cast and crew seemed to think the show was over earlier this year and claimed that Prison Break Season 5 would bring closure to the series.

Fox CEO Dana Walden confirmed there was a chance the show could return in some form earlier this year at Fox's annual Upfronts.

“We would definitely consider doing more episodes,” Walden dished. “I know [the producers] are thinking about it.”

Fox has yet to comment on what Purcell is saying, but it would be odd for the star to troll the fans if another season was not going ahead.

Given that Wentworth Miller has exited the CW DC universe, it would be fair to assume that he has a lot more time on his hands to work on some more episodes.

In all honesty, what could the show tackle next? How many more things will these characters have to go through before they get to rest for a few years?

Update: According to the Prison Break Writers Twitter account, the show has not received a formal pickup from Fox.
