Grey's Anatomy Round Table: April's Disconcerting Downward Spiral!

at .

The doctors were highly motivated and very inspired on Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Episode 12. Nearly all of them came up with proposals for their grant opportunity, and each proposition was fascinating in its own right.

Many of the doctors were inspired by personal experiences with patients and loved ones. It was a fun-filled hour that mostly focused on medicine.

Join TV Fanatics Stacy Glanzman, Paul Dailly, and Jasmine Blu as they discuss "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" below!

Which project/ proposal did you find the most intriguing of the bunch?

Stacy: Honestly, I thought they were all intriguing, and I'm really excited to see how this contest progresses. But, since I have to pick one, I am going to go with Richard's magic wand. I was really impressed by the idea of a pen that can detect cancer cells, and would help make sure surgeons get it all without sacrificing healthy tissue.

Paul: I actually liked Arizona's the best. It was completely different from what I expected her to do, and it was interesting.

Jasmine: I liked all of them, too. Richard's, with the ability to detect cancerous cells via a wand, and Maggie's were interesting to me though.

April revealed that not only is she sleeping with Roy regularly, but she's drinking heavily just so she can sleep at night. Thoughts?

Stacy: April's downward spiral is going to get worse before it gets better. She'll probably have to hit rock bottom before she can start to pick herself back up. I hope that running the contest will help her gain some perspective and maybe even help to restore her faith.

Paul: April is in a bad place, and I hope someone helps her out of it before it's too late. This is not the April I want to see every week, but the storyline makes a lot of sense.

Jasmine: I agree with Stacy. It's a sad arc, but it's an interesting one. She'll have to hit rock bottom before she comes back from this, but I'm looking forward to when one of her friends calls her out on her behavior.

DeLuca has been trapped in this seemingly pointless relationship with Sam, and Owen awkwardly flirted with Carina and bailed on the contest. Do you feel there are too many characters on Grey's and not enough decent storylines for all of them?

Stacy: Yes, I don't care about DeLuca and Sam at all, and would have preferred to just skip over those scenes. It's sad Owen decided not to enter the contest, but it actually does seem true to his character. He does need better storylines though.

Paul: I agree. They need to either cut some of the characters or find good enough storylines to serve them all. It's not exciting when some characters are doing silly things in otherwise decent episodes.

Jasmine: Completely agree, Paul. An otherwise fantastic episode can be off because they'll throw in one of the characters with a ridiculous storyline and my eye will twitch.

Meredith and Jo's new friendship/partnership is thriving, Maggie and Richard are bonding, Catherine and Jackson are working together, and Carina and Arizona are reuniting. Which relationship do you enjoy most?

Stacy: I thought Jackson and Catherine working together was really funny. They have such a love/hate relationship. They're both such strong personalities so it makes sense they clash so much. It'll be interesting to see how this project goes.

Paul: Carina and Arizona. There's a spark between them, and they are genuinely exciting to watch.

Jasmine: I am enjoying the relationship that has formed between Meredith and Jo a great deal. It has really elevated and overall benefited Jo's character, and it gives Meredith the opportunity to have both a female friendship but a protege as well.

What was your favorite scene?

Stacy: I laughed when Levi got the completely wrong idea and stood up to Bailey in her bedroom. Bailey's reaction was great.

Paul: I agree with Stacy. That was hilarious. Poor Levi.

Jasmine: The bar scene at Joe's. Everyone was having a good time, Richard and Catherine were dancing their hearts out, and the interns were bonding like M.A.G.I.C. used to do.

Jackson Avery, you are such a disappointment. I thought you were woke!

Catherine

Jackson: We made a rule.
Catherine: What rule?
Jackson: The rule that says you and I don't work together on genitalia because you have no filter.
