Scandal Round Table: There's No Hope for Olivia Pope

at .

We're past the point of caring about whether Olivia Pope gets a good ending.

On Scandal Season 7 Episode 10, the character continued to play those closest to her against each other, and it resulted in her being fired.

Below, TV Fanatics Christine Orlando, Lizzy Buczak and Paul Dailly discuss what's to come for the characters now that they are anti-Olivia.

Olivia has been fired. What's next for her?

Christine: Olivia has lost her place in the White House. She’s lost B-613. She’s lost OPA. Liv has lost her power base which means everything to her. She doesn’t have anything else. I don’t know what she does next but I’m wondering if she goes back to Rowan, although I don’t know what she’d expect from it after taking away his bones. But now that even Jake has turned on her, I don’t know what she does next.

Lizzy: Good question! She lost everything that mattered to her so what comes next? Will she try to regain control? Will she ask for forgiveness? And even if she does, she's out of chances! I really have no idea where Shonda is going to take her character.

Paul: She’s going to turn to the people below the ones in power to try and regain control. She’s going to turn to Cyrus, get in his ear and get some results. She will turn to Abby at QPA because she walked into the darkness on Scandal Season 6 and will likely see a redeeming quality in her.

Don't Cross Me - Scandal Season 7 Episode 10

Is Jake done with Olivia, or will they always be connected?

Christine: I hope so. I’m tired of watching him play her lapdog, or maybe guard dog is more accurate. Olivia has treated him like nothing more than her boy toy, and a second tier one at that since she always prefers to run to Fitz first. She expects Jake to jump whenever she calls, and I’m happy that he played this one for himself.

Lizzy: Are they ever done? I hope this is the point that Jake finally shakes Liv for good because he deserves way better. She thinks she owns him and that he's supposed to respond to her every beck and call. No more! Mellie finally opened his eyes, and he realized there's no respect. Their storyline has long been over he just needed a little push.

Paul: I sure hope so! These two are toxic together. They will do absolutely anything to get things done and don’t care about the consequences. Jake would be wise to continue without her.

Heading To Vermont - Scandal

What did you think of Olivia's big lie?

Christine: I saw it coming. I didn’t believe her when she wrote her resignation letter. I thought she was giving in too easily and just telling everyone what they wanted to hear so that she could get out of Vermont, and I was right. Olivia proved long ago that she’d rather have power than friends.

Lizzy: If you know Liv, you can tell when she's lying. She caved in WAY too quickly for it to be true. And she knew that if she gave them what they wanted, she would secure her freedom. It just sucks that she let everyone down.

Paul: Yeah, it seemed too good to be true. She’s never one to accept defeat, and the only way to get out of the situation was to agree with the ones who were keeping her under lock and key.

Not Impressed - Scandal Season 7 Episode 10

What will Quinn, Charlie, and Rowan do to get back at Olivia?

Christine: Quinn wants real revenge. She thinks a bullet is letting Liv off the hook too easily, but I’m curious to see if Rowan will go along with their revenge plan. Olivia is still his daughter, and despite everything she’s done, I’m not sure he’ll allow her to be killed or end up in prison.

Lizzy: Revenge. And Liv deserves every bit coming for her. Death is too easy though so Quinn will likely torture Liv until someone puts stops her from going too far. Will it be Rowan? Charlie, who is a changed man after becoming a dad? Fitz?

Paul: Quinn does not want Olivia to get off the hook with a slap on the wrist. That means she will turn to her old B-613 ways to dole out some revenge.

You're Fired, Olivia Pope! - Scandal Season 7 Episode 10

Should Olivia get a good ending or a bad one?

Christine: I don’t think he really deserves a good ending. She’s become selfish and mean over the years. She’s turned on the people she calls friends. I find the evolution of her character very sad. But in the end, you know what? I just don’t care what happens to Olivia. I care more about what happens to the rest of the characters on Scandal.

Lizzy: I used to be Liv's biggest cheerlead but sadly, I don't think she can be redeemed. She's gone too far, done too many horrible things and knows too much to make it out alive. And if they don't kill her, she's definitely going to prison. Or to the hole! Sorry, Liv!

Paul: Yeah, I’m only here now to watch everyone get their own back at Olivia. She’s a truly horrible person who has zero redeeming qualities.

Scandal Season 7 Episode 10 Quotes

After everything Fitz has done, after everything that’s been done in his name, he’s not going to get up on his soapbox and judge me, is he?

Olivia

There isn’t a person in here who hasn’t had to get their hands a little bit dirty at one point or another. Isn’t that right, Abby? I know that Huck — of all people! — isn’t actually the one who’s calling me a monster right now.
