Scorpion Season 4 Episode 20 Review: Foul Balls

Let's play ball!

On Scorpion Season 4 Episode 20, something absolutely shocking happens: Team Scorpion played a game of baseball. What's even more surprising is that they win.

Okay, yeah there was no way they were going to lose and therefore lose their government clearance, so all along we knew that something had to happen to make them win the game.

If Team Scorpion didn't have clearance, then the next case they got would have probably been super boring. Plus, Cabe wouldn't be working with them so losing was not a possible outcome.

It's still shocking to see this extremely ragtag team pull it off. To say they had a rough start is an understatement.

The ballgame is a lot of fun. There's not really any thrill nor suspense to it; it's just amusing entertainment. Our geniuses were fishes out of water, and Paige could only help them so much.

While there's not that much focus on how Patty and Bifrost managed to make their way onto the team, they were welcomed additions. They brought some humor, and it was fun seeing this side of Patty. Who knew she would be okay with stealing?

Sadly, there weren't any Ralph and Patty moments. They didn't necessarily have to focus on Ralph trying to win her over, but we could have seen the two of them reacting to what was going on with the adult members of Team Scorpion.

Patty got caught up on all the Team Scorpion gossip, and you know she had to have something to say about it.

The geniuses all have a painful backstory when it comes to sports and jocks, but we don't really get to hear too much about them, which is sad. I'm not saying there needed to be flashbacks, but a couple more worried looks and reminiscing about shared pain would have been welcomed.

Patty: I'll go steal them.
Toby: Being tardy is a mortal sin, but she has no problem stealing. Strange kid.

Florence shared quite a bit about her feelings. I have to say, I enjoyed seeing Florence angry. She's got a feisty side.

Ah, yes, this brings us to the love triangle of doom. It's technically a love rectangle since Sly's involved, but love rectangle sounds so lame.

Also, let's try not to focus on how awkward it was that Sly kept bringing up how great it was that Florence didn't have feelings for Walter. Way to make it obvious, dude. We're trying to minimize the drama that this love rectangle triangle creates, not add more to it.

Anyways, as much as I hate this whole ordeal, Toby and Happy investigating what's going on was pretty fun. If the triangle had to be brought up, this was the way to do it.

For someone who used to not be so fond of Paige, Happy really has come a long way.

She's very protective of Paige, but there is an argument to be made that what Happy and Toby were really protecting was Team Scorpion, and they could not care less about Paige's feelings. As Happy said, without "the waitress," Team Scorpion will fall apart.

I choose to believe that Toby and Happy also don't want Paige to get hurt. What do you think?

You see, geniuses, Paige and Cabe grew up playing sports. They don't know what it's like to be bullied by a jock. They don't know that you're just supposed to take it and move on!

Toby

Toby and Happy attempting to be subtle and figure out what was going on with Florence and Walter and the lecture was the enjoyable part of this storyline. Happy vs. Florence was a little too angry for my taste. Can't we all just get along?

Paige can't be kept in the dark for much longer. She's no genius, but she isn't stupid either.

She has to be curious as to why Happy attacked Florence like that. Seeing as how this is episode 20, Paige is probably going to catch on soon.

Cabe: I'm just trying to figure out where I can buy just one right shoe.
Toby: Wait for this. This is going to be good.
Cabe: Because I'm going to lose mine somewhere up Walter's ass!
Toby: BAM! There it is.

When Walter first called Cecil for help, there was hope that something hilarious was on the horizon. I mean this is the man responsible for the sock puppets on Scorpion Season 2 Episode 17, and those things were a gift

However, Cecil didn't really do anything during this hour. He filled a spot on the bench and that's about it.

This is a huge missed opportunity. If we're bringing Cecil back, then make it count!

Someone else could have convinced Walter to go out and play. It could have been a really touching moment if Cabe was the one to do it.

Cecil brought all of the excitement and failed to follow through. What a shame. Do you agree?

Speaking of Walter and Cabe, it was really sweet to bring back up how Walter views Cabe as a father. This was the emotional moment that the hour was missing.

The time spent in the evidence locker leading up to the revelation that Walter was purposely missing the game, however, was rather boring.

All the action and entertainment was on the field, and that's where we wanted to spend our time, not in a locker with two bickering dudes.

Walter's emotional moment where he came clean to Cabe was great. It would have been better if we didn't also have to deal with the equity argument between the two of them.
