The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 15 Review: Designated Survivors

at .

The Last Man on Earth delivers as simple yet delightful chapter in the gang's story, with the return of Mike and an exciting announcement for Todd.

On The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 15, Mike returns, and Tandy is overjoyed to see his brother. Todd is nervous that Erica will want to have a baby with Mike instead, but he gets exciting news that Erica is pregnant with his child. Mike discovers a large and mysterious heat signature on his computer.

A Shocking Discovery - The Last Man on Earth

Jason Sudeikis was as perfect as I expected he would be.

I was devastated when we thought he died so I welcomed his return.

Sudeikis has a great rapport with Forte, and due to his charm, he fits in well with the rest of the gang.

It felt as if no time had passed since his last appearance on the series.

I am sad, though, that, based on the preview, it seems Mike will disappear once again.

I was especially happy when I heard those first notes of "Falling Slowly."

Brothers reunited - The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 15

It is one of my favorite songs, and when Tandy and Mike first sang it on The Last Man on Earth Season 2 Episode 16, I cried tears of joy.

I am so glad they brought back the brothers' favorite song to reunite them.

Todd: Mike, what are your intentions?
Mike: Oh! To nail this harmony and roll right into When the Saints Go Marching In!

Their love of karaoke throughout the episode also made me nostalgic for the actors' years together on Saturday Night Live

The humor and carefree attitude was reminiscent of many classic sketches with the two of them.

There were also plenty of emotional moments to offset the silliness of the karaoke.

I have said it before, and I will continue to say it. This series is one of the best comedies at finding the heart and soul in its characters, even with their flaws and annoying quirks.

None of the members of the gang are perfect, and they often frustrate or annoy me.

These emotional moments, though, keep us coming back for more.

Mike and Tandy's reunion was beautiful. Two men becoming emotional over their love for one another is rare on television, but the love feels genuine between these brothers.

Named her after Mike Clark Duncan. Big Green Mile fans. Yeah...j.k. Named her after you.

Tandy

The look on Mike's face when he found out about his niece Mike was my favorite moment, though.

I was anticipating the moment he discovered this, and I immediately teared up when I saw the tears in his eyes.

Tandy's joke was a lighthearted and perfect way to break up the emotions while not taking away too much from the moment.

exciting news for Todd - The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 15

I was happy to see Todd recognize his terrible behavior towards Erica and apologize for it.

He was being ridiculous, and Erica had every right to be angry with him.

I am glad she did not cancel their agreement, though.

I know who you are. You're a kind and wonderful man but got a little bit off track. Don't worry. I'll get you back in the second and third trimesters.

Erica

Once again, I was reduced to tears when she told Todd she was pregnant, and I loved the scene between the two of them after her announcement.

They have reached an understanding, and I know Todd will be an amazing father.

Now that he seems to be the Todd we know and love again, I am excited to watch him, Melissa, and Erica on this weird journey together.

something on the computer - The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 15

My heart was broken by Mike's admission that seeing the life on his heat signature monitor helped his loneliness.

The heat signature was an exciting cliffhanger, even though it appears that it will be the reason Mike leaves.

This thing really, um, really kept me going out there. During the dark times when I was at my loneliest, I would just sit down and search for life.

Mike

Did anyone catch the location of the heat signature? I was not able to see if it was specified, but I am so curious about the whereabouts of this mysterious life.

I am looking forward to finding out what the writers have in store for us and the gang.

I expect it will be full of surprises, as is usual with this series.

"Designated Survivors" is one of my favorite episodes of the season.

It was not an overly exciting episode, but it had me smiling the entire time.

I enjoyed every second of it, and it definitely made up for last week's disappointing episode.

Jasper being included is the only thing that could have made me love the episode even more.

Did you enjoy "Designated Survivors" as much as I did? Do you love Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte together, or do you hope Mike leaves the gang soon?
