Colony Season 3 Episode 5 Review: End of the Road

I'm still reeling from Colony Season 3 Episode 5 and can't believe one of the Bowman children died. Although looking back, the way they designed the end, I should've had a clue.
On Colony Season 3 Episode 4, we were left with Broussard and Amy arriving at an abandoned camp. We didn't know where anyone was or how much time had passed. We still don't know exactly how much time passed, but now we know what happened.
The Occupation happened, with the assistance of Snyder, that sly dog.
Snyder is always working an angle, and this storyline for him was no different. Even when he was giving Vincent the password for the transmission, Snyder told him straight up he wasn't a good man.
I don't care what choices you make. Resist, collaborate, fight or hide. But before you lecture me on the importance of human life, ask yourself why you're going to make the choice to kill millions of people. Nothing will change. Nobody will be inspired, they'll just be dead!
Snyder
Snyder may say he's not a good man, and while that might be true in the traditional sense, he does what he thinks will cause the least amount of damage (to others and himself).
That's part of why I like him so much.
Snyder was telling the truth about what happened in Dallas -- the ground turning to glass and killing millions. The same thing would happen if Vincent didn't step up!
If you didn't believe Snyder because sometimes you can't, Vincent confirmed Snyder's tale by asking the source himself -- the RAP.
The red orb glowed inside the RAP, and you could tell on Vincent's face he saw exactly what happened in Dallas. Millions of lives were in his hands, and he had to trust Snyder at his word.
We learned an interesting piece of information on this episode; the red glow is a soul or a consciousness. Interesting!
MacGregor: What did you do?
Vincent: I remembered who I was.
Anyway, Snyder twisted an important piece of information talking to Vincent.
The little "keep it under six seconds" bit was a lie. Snyder knew as soon as Vincent spoke the word Roanoke into the frequency, the Occupation was coming down hard on the camp.
I couldn't have been the only one who found it hilarious when Snyder was stuffing pencil erasers in his ears. Right?
Admit it. The guy is funny.
I was surprised the troops came in shooting, but I guess I shouldn't have been. The camp was full of Resistance members, so they're enemies.
Still, there are children there. The Occupation is filled with human beings, no? How can they stomach shooting children?
There's no such thing as a small betrayal.
MacGregor
Charlie sending Gracie ahead so that he could kill the gray hats was genius, but I should've known he would die.
His last heroic act was saving his little sister.
It was so sad.
Charlie had been through so much, he was a forever-changed person. I won't even say he was a kid because he had to grow up fast when he was by himself in Santa Monica.
We saw a glimpse of pain for the Bowmans when they were on the hill, but we'll have to wait to see how the loss of Charlie will impact the family.
I don't think the loss will change their resolve. It will make them more determined to end all the madness and return Earth to a somewhat more normal existence.
How that will get accomplished, I don't know.
Even if the RAPs leave and their enemy never comes, humans were betrayed by humans, and millions died. Nothing will change that now. The world is now forever divided.
We're gonna kill you. Do you understand?
Vincent
We always think that with war though, I suppose, so maybe humanity could make its way back.
Even if it did, there would always be an undercurrent of mistrust and betrayal running through every action until the end of time.
Yes, it was Snyder's fault Charlie died. You could tell Snyder felt that weight when he saw Charlie dead under the tarp.
You know the guy has a heart.
If Snyder had not encouraged Vincent to stand up, though, not only would Vincent and Charlie be dead, they would all be dead.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
Snyder said he's pragmatic. He deals with things sensibly and realistically. He's a realist. Snyder knew people would die, but his choice was the lesser of two evils. You can't blame him.
I was proud of Vincent. He was loyal but not to a fault. He followed MacGregor, not blindly, but with his eyes open.
When he saw MacGregor making bad decisions, Vincent branched off and made his own choices.
It's a shame Vincent is dead, but he did what he had to do.
In the end, the RAP was saved.
I won't shed a tear for MacGregor's death. He wasn't a bad man, but he went crazy with paranoia and listened to only himself. That's a bad practice for any leader.
