Station 19 Season 1 Episode 9 Review: Hot Box

at .

On Station 19 Season 1 Episode 9, my claustrophobia was kicking into high gear, as half of Station 19 were trapped in a steel-reinforced garage with fire on the outside, cooking them inside.

Let me start off by saying, who in the hell would turn their garage into something like that? A spy, maybe. Batman? Not some lady in suburbia.

She couldn't have been doing anything that important where she would need all that protection.

A Burning Garage - Station 19

I have to hand it to the firefighters of Station 19 because if it were me, let's say Maya's harsh words would've paled in comparison.

I'm so sad for Miller, who blames himself for his friends getting trapped in the garage. It was his fault, and I think that may be the end of him and JJ.

You're not MY captain!

Ryan

She likes Miller, and she's nice enough, but she doesn't respect what he does. She showed that when she kept him up all night and didn't get a minute's worth of sleep before going to the firehouse for a full shift.

Not even a nap.

They just had to have sex. Now, I'm no prude, and I'm not saying it was all her fault, but Miller said he had to get rest.

Maya is Proud of Andy - Station 19 Season 1 Episode 9

If he wants to stay in this relationship, he needs to put his foot down and stay strong. Miller has to be honest with JJ and tell her his job is not some normal job.

He doesn't sit in an office and push pencils. Lives literally depend on him. JJ either needs to get on board and respect that or pound sand.

Harsh, but true.

Embracing your badassery! My job is done. Until I apply for lieutenant. Give you a run for your money.

Maya

That being said, Miller won't let that happen again. He said so himself. I assume he will break up with JJ. We'll see.

Back at the fire, It was impressive the way Montgomery stepped up and took charge of the situation. He was decisive and strong. He thought outside the box and went with his gut to problem solve.

I was proud of Montgomery!

Last time he spent the day as captain, he was timid and rigid. Not on this call. On this call, Montgomery took charge. Captain material. Just saying.

Montgomery also took charge with his boyfriend at the end. How cute are those two together? Something terrible will happen, though, because we all know no one can be happy for too long in these drama shows.

I will enjoy watching those two while I can. I encourage you to do the same.

I was happy to watch yet another episode where the focus wasn't on the captain's race. Jack and Ryan had some moments in the box garage, where I thought they might come to blows, but it didn't escalate to that.

Pull it together, Andrea. You stand up and figure a way out of there. You do that. You do that for me. Right now!

Captain

A fight is coming. I hate to say it, but they both have a temper and given a little more time, Jack and Ryan will fight. Do I want it to happen? No, it's juvenile, but I think it will happen. And soon.

Especially after the scene in the bar when Jack put together the pieces and realized that Andy had cheated on him.

That's a sucky feeling, and Jack has every right in the world to be pissed. Anybody would be. Andy's in the wrong. I'm afraid how it will affect the firehouse. Can their family unit work with all the tension between Jack and Andy? Maybe. But it could cost lives.

Maya and Andy in the Garage - Station 19 Season 1 Episode 9

Maybe Andy's dad is right. Maybe an outsider running the station will force them all to band together.

He has a point.

Like I've said before, I agree with the captain. Neither Andy nor Jack should be captain but bringing in an outsider to the firehouse. I don't know. It could make them join forces against one perceived enemy, but it could backfire (no pun intended) and blow up the whole unit.

I think they will find a way to stick together. At least I hope so.

I don't want slow. I should. I've tried. I know it's complicated, but I don't want a slow burn. Tomorrow I could be trapped in a garage trying to stuff a turkey.

Montgomery

Andy didn't take the news well when her dad confessed he didn't support her for captain.

She's the type who has to take the information in, think about it for a while and try to understand what she's learned. Once Andy does that, she will realize her dad was right because she's smart.

She and Jack screwed up and screwed themselves when they screwed each other.

Jack and Andy could've destroyed the whole station with their affair. The captain's smart and he can see things Andy hasn't been able to up to this point.

I'm confident she'll calm down and see her dad's way was the only way to keep them all together and safe in the long run.
