The Good Doctor: Lisa Edelstein Checks In!

Lisa Edelstein's Girlfriends Guide to Divorce may be ending its run in the coming weeks, but the actress will not be off the screen for long.

According to Deadline, the actress will join the cast of The Good Doctor Season 2 in a recurring role which will start with the season premiere.

Edelstein will take on the role of Dr. Blaize, an oncologist who makes a triumphant return to the hospital following a suspension. The reason for her return to the hospital is at the request of Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff).

The report states that Aaron brings her back into the fold to help him treat his cancer. If you watch The Good Doctor online, you know that Aaron was diagnosed with cancer in the final episodes of The Good Doctor Season 1.

In fact, the season finale even focused on Dr. Shaun Murphy's (Freddie Highmore) battle to save his mentor and friend upon hearing the news.

This news means that Edelstein will be reuniting with David Shore who she previously worked with on Fox's House for seven years. All we need now is Hugh Laurie to stop by, and we'll have a full-fledged reunion.

As much as we know that would never happen, it would be a fun dynamic to see the pair play different characters and share the screen again.

It was recently confirmed that Chuku Modu (who plays Dr. Jared Kalu) was out of the series after one season as a series regular, while Will Yun Lee (Dr. Alex Park), Fiona Gubelmann (Dr. Morgan Reznick), Christina Chang (Dr. Audrey Lim), and Paige Spara (Lea) have been promoted to regulars.

The Good Doctor was one of few success stories during the 2017-18 season. It averaged a 3.4 rating among adults 18-49 for the season, becoming the fourth highest-rated scripted series on TV.
