On Iron Fist Season 2 Episode 2, Danny and Colleen try to make things right in the midst of Chinatown conflict, but it's never as easy as it seems.

However, Joy and Davos have a gleefully evil plan up their sleeves, including a surprisingly racy and edgy scene -- for Marvel standards -- between Mika Prada and Davos.

Marvel isn't giving much away when it comes to their scheme, but the development of Joy and Davos' characters, is, namely, a joy to watch. It's a delightful juxtaposition to the do-gooder attitudes of Colleen and Danny.

Sometimes it's just fun to watch bad guys in action. Joy is growing increasingly eviler, but she's also having fun doing it -- which is even more enjoyable to watch.

Davos is proving to be quite the K'un-L'un devotee compared to Danny, who has become more, well, laissez-faire in his methods (Davos refuses to imbibe, make small talk, or have sex -- what's Danny up to?).

This makes me question Danny's validity as the Iron Fist -- time and time again making him simply unbelievable in the role. Unless he truly had some sort of worthiness that is proven in the next eight episodes, I can see why Davos is angry.

The heavy usage of flashbacks felt a bit heavy-handed, considering it was simply the entirety of Danny and Davos' fight drawn out over multiple sections, depicting how it went down.

We know that Davos is angry at Danny for allegedly "stealing" the opportunity to win the Iron Fist from him, but we never really knew why. Although the flashback gives us some insight, not enough is known about K'un-L'un to make a valuable assessment.

Was Lei Kung too hasty in calling Danny the winner? Are there heavier politics that we're going to learn about?

The flashback seems like a good intro into the world of K'un-L'un, and I'm expecting more flashbacks.

The series still suffers from some orientalist undertones (those drums, anyone?) that it's doing its best to eliminate, but it's tough to subvert this entirely considering the basis of the show.

K'un L'un is a magical city above all, but considering it's only accessible through China, it's clear that it was meant to be a Doctor Strange-esque city rooted in that kind of problematic Asian mythicism.

The production design does the best of trying to put the concept of the magic and fantasy aspect front and center over the mythical element, but it's nearly impossible to avoid the other parts -- including the fact that Danny fights a dragon named Shou-Lao.

Outside of Danny's flashback stint, Colleen shines in her role as a diplomat. When she relates to BB and his gang, it's kind of a magical moment itself, as it doesn't linger in Danny's form of condescending kindness.

Rather, it comes from a place of genuine generosity, which is also supported by her charity work and the fact that she was formerly a karate teacher who eagerly taught students in order to encourage them to excel.

I'm really hoping that we get to see more of Colleen in action -- Colleen was the only one who had any true present-day fighting scenes, and she singlehandedly can pull off what Danny does, even without the fist.

Now, let's talk about Mary. What is with her? Dropping such a mysterious character into this show without context (and avoiding spoilers!) is not unlike Marvel.

However, Iron Fist has been so focused on the magical/fantasy element of K'un-L'un that having such a bizarre aspect introduced so early on is a little unnerving.

She's clearly very deliberately placed, but only time will show how her role plays into the Iron Fist world. How will it spin out into Colleen and Danny's relationship? Does she have ties to his past or other parts of his life?

Here's to also remembering the difference between all the different gangs (key point: the triad war is not a war between three groups -- it's a war between different triads, or Chinese gangs).

Without a doubt, Colleen's newfound "friends" will be important. Will she recruit them to help her in the fight? Or will the death of certain key players inspire her to join the cause more heavily than she has been before?

There's a lot of possibilities coming up, so make sure to watch Iron Fist online!
