This Is Us Season 3 Episode 7 Review: Sometimes

at .

This is love. This is perfection. This Is Us.

This Is Us Season 3 Episode 7 was by far the best episode of This Is Us Season 3, and there have been some pretty great ones. It had everything This Is Us fans could ask for -- heartache, pain, and a whole lotta love.

There were so many swoon-worthy moments that happened on "Sometimes" that it's hard to keep count. Between Jack and Rebecca and Kevin and Zoe, there was a lot of love in the air, and it's beautiful.

Jack and Rebecca really tugged at the heartstrings. I've always loved them together, even during the hardships and pains, but watching their love story from the very beginning is just what my life needs right now.

There are no two people, real or fictional, that are more perfect together. If you didn't believe they were meant for each other before this hour, Jack and Rebecca's third date forced you to believe it. And if you still don't think they're the perfect pair, you probably don't believe in love.

Third dates are usually where the magic happens. The awkwardness of getting to know each other is behind you, and it's time to see if there is real potential there.

However, most normal couples third dates don't involve a multi-day road trip, but Jack and Rebecca are not a normal couple. They share sparks so hot the TV sizzles a little everytime they appear.

The way they looked at each other, it was obvious they were both so invested in their relationship that a road trip for a third date actually seemed plausible.

Rebecca: I made some turkey sandwiches, I don't know if you're a turkey fan.
Jack: I love turkey.
Rebecca: Uh me too! Look at us a couple of turkey freaks driving across the country. And my mom said it was too soon to take a road trip.

There were only two things that kept Rebecca from going all in with Jack. A potential music career in LA that could take her on the road and the fact that Jack was so secretive about his past.

Can you really know someone without having any information about their past?

It was a question that she pondered throughout their road trip, as she continued to try to get some answers out of Jack, but every time she asked, he politely shut her down.

At one point he even admitted that he just couldn't find it within himself to talk about what happened to him in Vietnam. He wants to keep that life and this life separate.

If it were any other man, Rebecca probably would've got the heck out of that hotel room, but no one can resist Jack Pearson's subtle charm.

The two shared multiple beautiful moments throughout "Sometimes," but those love scenes were magical. They managed to be hot and tender at the same time.

My TV almost fried.

Jack and Rebecca needed to go their separate ways to get the answers they were seeking. Jack got reassurance from the parents of a fallen soldier he considered to be in his care. They assured him the death of their son wasn't his fault.

Road Trip To LA - This Is Us

Once Jack was assured, it was like a weight got lifted off of his shoulders. He's been carrying around so much pain and sadness, and while this didn't necessarily heal him, it did help him realize that it's okay for him to open up to others.

At the same time, Rebecca learned that pursuing a career in LA wasn't in the cards for her. The record producer dismissing her talent answered the question Rebecca's been asking herself.

Should she stay in LA and pursue music or explore her relationship with Jack in Pittsburgh? When the record producer told her she was Pittsburgh good, her question was answered.

Rebecca: They said that I was Pittsburgh good, which I've decided to take as a compliment.
Jack: Can I hear the song?
Rebecca: I think that I'm done singing for today.
Jack: Bec, please?
Rebecca: Bec? No one has ever called me that. I like it.

By the end of the road trip, Jack finally opened up to Rebecca in a way she wasn't expecting. While singing for him, Jack broke down, finally letting the pain and sadness he's been holding inside out.

It can't be a fantastic episode of This Is Us without waterworks not just from Jack but from all of us.

On a more serious note, Milo Ventimiglia has been killing it this season and deserves an Emmy now more than ever!

Hotel Stays - This Is Us Season 3 Episode 7

Jack and Rebecca weren't the only couple that grew closer. Kevin and Zoe have taken a major step in their relationship. Apparently, it takes a trip, whether it be in another state or another country, to get people to open up.

Kevin faced a very similar situation to his mother. No matter how much he probed, he couldn't get Zoe to tell him more about her family. It took her getting sick after eating a bat, but they finally had the heart-to-heart, Zoe's been avoiding.

I want to be able to tell you everything and I want to know everything about you. But if I can't, that's okay. That's okay because you smell like peaches. Right now you don't, you smell like garbage right now actually, but typically you smell like peaches. And you keep snacks in that big purse you have. And well, I'm falling in love with you. Whether you open up to me or not, I'm falling in love with you.

Kevin

Kevin and Zoe are in it for the long haul, y'all! Justin Hartley and Melanie Liburd knocked it out of the park during that bathtub scene.

The two manage to make all moments between Kevin and Zoe feel sweet and light-hearted, even when discussing some very dark things.

Zoe has a much darker past then Kevin realized. Being a sexual abuse survivor is one thing, but the fact that it was her father explains the distance she put between her and Kevin.

However, just like his father, no one can resist Kevin Pearson's charm. He's the man that can help Zoe see that there are good men in the world.

Sick In Vietnam - This Is Us Season 3 Episode 7

While Kevin didn't uncover much about Jack and Vietnam, besides the necklace he wears around his neck being a popular tourist souvenir, he did accomplish something major in his relationship with Zoe, and we should applaud him for that.

The Kevin we once knew who screwed up his relationships and was scared to commit fully is gone, and he's been replaced by a much more mature and caring man.

Kevin's trip in Vietnam is far from over, and I imagine he'll slowly uncover more and more about his dad and that woman in the photo.

Brother, Where Art Thou? - This Is Us Season 3 Episode 7

Those two relationships may have grown, but Jack's relationship with his little brother is more fractured than ever. Nikky is in a very dark place and Jack being Jack wants to do whatever he can to save him.

The Vietnam story has mostly been from Jack's perspective, but it would be interesting if we get to see it from Nikky's point of view.

Nikky: What you got a plan, Jack? I got charged with Article 15, that's unbecoming conduct.
Jack: I'll figure something out.
Nikky: You know it's just a nickname man. You're not Superman. It's just a stupid nickname.

He has clearly seen some things that have left him damaged and broken. While we don't know exactly how he died, but suicide is starting to look like the answer.

Nikky seems so messed up, and I would love to explore how exactly he got to that place.

What did you think of "Sometimes"?

Which Jack and Rebecca moment was your favorite?

Did Jack's tears bring you to tears?

Are you proud of both Kevin and Zoe for taking the next step in their relationship?

How do you think Nikky died and would you be interested in seeing Vietnam from his perspective?
