Grey's Anatomy might just outlive us all.

ABC announced Monday that it has ordered three additional episodes of the sudsy medical drama, bringing Grey's Anatomy Season 15 to 25 episodes.

While many broadcast dramas run fewer than the standard 22 episodes a season nowadays, the increased episode order proves the series remains a viable option for the alphabet network.

To date, Grey's Anatomy Season 15 is averaging 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demo, keeping it well ahead of the other shows on the network.

It's rare for shows to remain this popular after all these years, but the veteran series is showing no signs of slowing down.

Whenever the time comes for the Meredith Grey and her friends to solve their final medical mystery, it will likely be because the cast and crew feel it's the right time as opposed to being ousted by the network.

Looking ahead, Grey's Anatomy is slated to return from its midseason hiatus on Thursday, January 17 with an episode titled "Shelter from the Storm."

"The windstorm continues to blow through Seattle; and after the power goes out at Grey Sloan, the doctors are left scrambling to save their patients’ lives, including Meredith who desperately needs to get to Cece for her heart transplant," reads the official logline, adding:

"Owen, Amelia and Teddy confront their complicated situation."

Now that last part will surely make fans happy. The Owen, Amelia, and Teddy situation should have been resolved on the season premiere ... not the freaking midseason premiere.

Alas, when you have such an expansive cast, it's difficult to serve all of the characters well, but we'll see how this one works out.

And then there's Meredith who found herself caught up in a moment with DeLuca. Will she confirm whether she has feelings for him, or will she get with Koracick?

I may be biased here, but I feel Meredith is far more suited to Koracick. They had chemistry for days when they were on the plane alone.
