You Season 2 Casts The Haunting of Hillhouse Favorite as Female Lead

Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) has a new woman in his life.

Victoria Pedretti has joined the cast of Netflix's YOU, and she will be playing the female lead.

Pedretti replaces Elizabeth Lail, whose character Beck, was killed off at the close of YOU Season 1

Pedretti is on board to play Love Quinn, an ambitious chef who doesn't care about social media.

She's also tending to a deep grief — so when she meets Joe, she senses a shared knowledge of profound loss.

The lack of social media for Love will present a huge obstacle for Joe.

If you watch You online, you know that social media was what fed his appetite to stalk poor Beck on YOU Season 1 Episode 1

While it's going to make for a different dynamic, there's no telling whether any of the action from New York City will follow Joe to his new locale.

Oh yes, YOU Season 2 is set in Los Angeles, but there's no word yet on why Joe hotfoots it across the country.

He was in too deep at the close of YOU Season 1, and there was a private investigator sticking around, so there's a possibility he could be on the run.

What we don't know at this stage, is hour Joe's presumed dead ex-girlfriend Candace (Ambyr Childers) is going to factor into all the drama.

Pedretti was one of the breakout stars of fellow Netflix drama, The Haunting of Hill House. She won praise for her role of a mentally ill character named Nell on the horror drama.

The casting news comes just weeks after it emerged that the show was a success following its move to Netflix as a global original.

"Joe isn't the only one watching: @YouNetflix is on track to be viewed by more than 40 million members in its first four weeks on Netflix!," revealed a tweet from Netflix recently.

YOU started its life on Lifetime in the U.S. with Netflix taking the international rights, but the show's stateside home bailed on the already ordered Season 2 following a freshman run that failed to pack a punch in the ratings.

The good news about the move to Netflix is that fans will likely be given the gift of binging the sophomore run the day it premieres.

Some shows are best served binged, and YOU is most definitely one of them.

Production on YOU Season 2 is slated to get underway next month, and a 2019 premiere is looking likely.

YOU Quotes

A guy needs to protect himself. I had to make sure you're safe, and your name was a glorious place to start. Not a lot of Guinevere Becks. And there you were, every account sent to public. You want to be seen, heard, known, and of course, I obliged.
Born and raised Nantucket Island. A brother Clyde and sister Anya. Your parents really were assholes about the names. Your folks split when you were 12. Your dad dropped out of the picture.
Went to Brown where you majored in Lit. Cool. And minored in douchebags. Eh. And then on to NYC to conquer an MFA, and make your mark presumably. Now you still write, barely. Too busy living out moments you won't remember five years from now. I know this because you post about this life all the goddamn time. Candidly, it's the least appealing thing about you, Beck.

Joe Voiceover

Beck: At the end of the day people really are disappointing, aren't they?
Joe: Sometimes they surprise you.
