Sex sells ... even for Netflix!

The streamer has confirmed that a second season of Sex Education has been ordered, and it's probably the least surprising renewal for the company yet.

The reason?

Netflix recently confirmed the drama series was on track to reach 40 million accounts within its first four weeks on the air.

Let's put that in perspective here.

At the last tally, it was revealed that Netflix already had a global subscriber base of 139 million. That means a large percentage of the accounts watched at least one episode of Sex Education.

"#SexEducation has come out with a bang — the smart and emotional series is on pace to be watched by over 40 million accounts over its first month," it was revealed via Twitter.

"Surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis is a reluctant expert on the subject," reads the official logline.

"When his home life is revealed at school, Otis realizes that he can use his specialist knowledge to gain status."

"He teams up with Maeve, a whip-smart bad-girl, and together they set up an underground sex therapy clinic to deal with their fellow students’ weird and wonderful problems."

"Through his analysis of teenage sexuality, Otis realizes he may need some therapy of his own."

The series was created by Laurie Nunn and stars Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, and Kedar Williams-Stirling.

“The reception to Season 1 has been so exciting,” Nunn said in a statement.

Added Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president of original content: “Laurie Nunn has captured the awkward teenage experience with a lot of heart and humor in Sex Education."
