Jake is forced to deal with his emotions once and for all on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Episode 11.

It's never easy to open up, and Jake learns the hard way that sometimes it's best to face your feelings head on, rather than let them continue to build.

Jake has always been one to keep his emotions locked up tight, the main exception being when he's with Amy.

Mental health is important, and just like the other members of the Nine-Nine, Jake has been through a lot.

Although it was passed off as a joke, there was a lot of truth to what Boyle said about having to somewhat disassociate from their jobs in order to do them properly.

Death is, unfortunately, a common investigation for detectives, and they have to be able to hold themselves together in spite of tragedies.

They have to think logically rather than emotionally in order to close a case, so there comes a point where they have to repress the fatalities they're forced to witness.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is above all a comedy, so there's only so much they can discuss while still managing to keep the show light.

But the series has always been the best at blending humor with real-life issues, and the repercussions of Jake's pent up emotions were handled perfectly.

Dr. Tate holding Jake and gunpoint and forcing him to talk about his feelings did seem a bit off at first.

In fact, there was a moment where we thought Boyle had put the psychiatrist up to it all just to get Jake to open up and talk to someone.

We definitely wouldn't put it past Charles, as everyone knows just how much he cares about Jake and his physical as well as emotional well-being.

It is also important to note that for the first time in the series, Charles has started standing up to Jake instead of letting him call all the shots.

To me, the evidence suggests that James killed his wife and fled. It's my case, and that's the lead we're following.

He's not afraid to call Jake out on his mistakes, just as Jake is not afraid to do the same to Charles.

But as it turns out, Dr. Tate really was the killer, and Jake's moderately okay texting skills managed to tip off Charles just in time for him to save the day.

It may not have been under the best circumstances, but the situation did make Jake realize that he should see a therapist.

Hopefully seeing a shrink will help Jake confront everything he's kept pent up inside, including how he feels responsible for his parents' divorce.

And then we have Rosa and her girlfriend, Jocelyn.

Holt's desire to meet Jocelyn and have Rosa over for dinner is a much bigger deal than it seems.

At the beginning of the series, Holt didn't want anyone on the squad knowing anything about his personal life. In fact, the one time he invited everyone over for a house party, it ended up being a complete disaster.

Holt's relationship with every single character has progressed dramatically, and he's become an even more compassionate person just by knowing them.

The hurt and disappointment he displayed when Rosa shot his dinner down, was somewhat satisfying to see.

Rosa claimed that she didn't want Holt to be judgemental, but it seemed like it was something more than that.

It's important to Holt for Rosa to be happy, and it's also important to him to meet the woman that she cares about.

Rosa hiring an actress to play her girlfriend wasn't too surprising. Rosa usually stands her ground pretty firmly, and she gave in to Holt quicker than we expected her to.

Meeting the real Jocelyn was exciting not just for Holt, but also for the audience. Viewers haven't witnessed Rosa in a real relationship since Adrian, and Adrian was such an annoying character it was hard to like them as a couple.

But Jocelyn already has both ours and Holt's approval, so we've got our fingers crossed that we will continue to see more of her as Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 progresses.

Usually, Rosa doesn't care about anyone's opinion but her own, which isn't a bad mentality. But it's great to see just how close Rosa and Holt have grown over the course of the show and how much he means to her.

Holt offered his love and support even when Rosa's own family couldn't, and their relationship has easily become one of the strongest dynamics on the series.
