Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 12 Review: Creep

at .  Updated at .

That was a heartbreaking twist.

Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 12 took our favorite characters on a wild ride, and by the end of the installment, everything was changed.

Let's start with Michael. He was once just a young boy who felt like nobody in the world wanted him.

He had Max and Isobel, but they were welcomed into the Evans family. He was not.

Making a Connection - Roswell, New Mexico

Going on the mission with Alex and Kyle was always going to reveal some big twists about Project Sheppard, but I did not expect Michael to meet his mother.

The government keeping the aliens holed up in those cells like they were animals was horrifying.

There was another way to go about learning about these beings that crash-landed on Earth in 1947, but the government chose to keep them locked up for over 70 years.

Isobel: I'm just trying to process this, figure out how I never realized what he was. After all this time...
Michael: Pod keeps him comfortable. I say we drag Noah out, torture some information out of him.

The moment that hurt me the most was the little old lady who recognized Michael.

Michael Tells All - Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 10

I expected them to share a connection, but I didn't expect the woman to be Michael's mother.

That came out of the left field, and I have to admit, having all the aliens perish thanks to some protocol in the prison felt like a complete and utter copout.

The building blowing up felt like a mere plot device to send Michael on to the next stage of his journey.

I thought he would be the one to let Noah burn after what he did to all the people in town.

The Fourth Alien? - Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 11

The last thing I expected was for Michael to strong arm Max. Michael wants answers about where he came from, and more importantly, whether there's a way for him to return home.

He's worried about what the future holds for the few aliens who still exist, and that's likely going to be what carries his storyline forward at this stage.

Noah: You need to listen my love.
Isobel: Don't use that word.

Michael would have stayed with the other aliens as the building blew up.

That's partly why he tried to get Alex to flee the building by telling him he never loved him.

Alex Searches for Answers - Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 12

It could have been a pivotal moment for Alex to realize that Michael is only looking out for himself, but Alex could see straight through his love interest's motives.

Max is going to try to find a way to get his brother to see the light, but Max did not witness the measures the government went to in order to kill the aliens.

I may have missed something along the line, but I had no idea Alex had a brother.

Max: This is the end of Noah's story.
Michael: Not until I get some answers. Not until I get the truth.

That was a surprise to me, and I only picked up on it with the dialog the pair exchanged while in the prison.

The biggest annoyance for me was that Manes did not pop back up and cause some carnage.

Kyle Learns the Truth - Roswell, New Mexico

He was chased out of town quite a few episodes ago now, so he has to return.

Cameron's departure came out of nowhere, but I'm not surprised.

There's so much going on that it's difficult to serve all of the characters. Some of them disappear for weeks on end.

That being said, her exit storyline was pretty comical.

Saying that she was trying to show off because she had too much champagne was something Cameron would have probably done, depending on the circumstances.

Battered and Bruised - Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 11

Cameron made a lot of sacrifices for Max, a man who will never reciprocate the feelings she has for him.

That's not the best way to try to have a relationship, and she's better well away from Roswell, New Mexico.

You left behind a war-torn, desolate planet to search for a place to call home.

Noah

Max surprised me on "Creep." The way he took the antidote from Liz so that he did not feel the guilt of letting Noah die was a big move.

In Max's mind, he was doing a good thing.

There were fourteen murders in town, and we're being led to believe that Noah was behind all of them. It would be too much to allow him to survive.

A Dance Before Lying - Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 11

There's no telling what Noah is really up to. He can talk a big game all he wants, but the only person who's going to buy what he's selling at this stage is Michael because he wants to make sure his people are not needlessly wiped out.

Isobel leaving Noah to die was surprising. I thought for sure that she would be easily manipulated by the man she lived a lie with for all those years.

The revelation that he was controlling her for years before the Rosa incident was quite the shocker. Noah is the worst. End of story.

How is Isobel supposed to rebuild her life in the aftermath?

She's never going to be able to trust anyone again because she's going to feel like she's being lied to, or that she's not good enough.

It's a terrible position to be in, and she's not going to take too kindly to Michael keeping her wicked ex-husband alive.

Taking a Leap of Faith - Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 11

From a storytelling standpoint, keeping Noah alive is a good move.

There's still so much we don't know about where these people come from.

They were on a war-torn planet, and the tattoo is a map. That's about as much as we know at this stage.

Heading into Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 13 -- the season finale, it's time for us to get some more solid answers.

The show has not yet been renewed for a second season, and I want Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 to end on a strong point.

What are your thoughts on the way the aliens were handled?

What will Michael do next?
