PLL: The Perfectionists Season 1 Episode 10 Review: Enter the Professor

If you thought the time for answers had come, PLL: The Perfectionists Season 1 Episode 10 proved you wrong.

The PLL: The Perfectionists Season 1 finale was essentially just a setup for a second season, rather than a closure to the current one.
As we had grown to suspect over the past couple episodes, Jeremy wasn't Nolan's killer. He was a pawn put into play by the spinoff's version of "A."
Yup, say hello to "The Professor."
Mona: Who are you?
The Professor: I'm the person who killed Nolan. Jeremy was guilty of many things, but he was not a killer.
It was a bit obvious that the liars weren't actually being called to join a secret society. Mona isn't even a student, and it was too convenient that they would all receive a letter.
The Professor's voiceover in the dimly lit room mixed with the video camera gave off some serious Saw vibes.
If the series wasn't targeted towards a younger audience, it probably could have pulled off some darker and more entertaining storylines pertaining to the experiment.

Since Nolan's death, the threats have mostly stayed surface level. It's difficult to feel a huge sense of danger seeing that Caitlin got hit by a car and was in perfect condition merely one episode later.
On Pretty Little Liars, the characters would be, essentially, fighting for their lives every other episode. And who could forget the time that "A" locked them all in a giant dollhouse?
It's not that we want something bad to happen to the characters, it's that the possibility that something could is what keeps viewers on their toes.

Taylor's trailer exploding followed by a threatening message from The Professor would have been a good opportunity to instill fear, but outwardly, the characters appeared more startled than scared.
Participation in the experiment is mandatory. Failure to follow instructions will result in your immediate incarceration.
There were two empty seats at the "Crimson Society," and while one of those seats could get guessed easily, the other leaves much to the imagination.
Taylor was the one who shot Jeremy, and it would make sense for her to fill one of the spots.
Although Taylor's prescence might have been lacking during PLL: The Perfectionists Season 1 Episode 10, it wasn't necessarily missed.
Taylor can be an intriguing character at times, and she is crucial to the show's mystery.
She discovered that someone hijacked Beacon Guard to spy on a select group of people.
Ava
But as far as her personality goes, she doesn't capture us as much as the other new characters do.
So who was supposed to be in the other seat? It could have been Jeremy, but that wouldn't make much sense as The Professor knows Jeremy is in the hospital and he is the one who got attacked. Was it Dana? Claire?
It's possible that there's someone else in the experiment who doesn't know that they're a part of it, or they're purposely choosing to turn a blind eye.

Everyone else's personal problems managed to be solved relatively quickly, but Ava's struggles will most likely have long-term effects going into the second season.
Ava standing up to her dad and returning the money to its rightful accounts was unexpected, to say the least.
The series never highlighted the ill feelings that Ava may have towards him for what he did to other people as much as it highlighted how much she missed him.

Ava didn't necessarily agree with his choices, but she refused to give up anything that might lead the FBI to her father, and she did use the stolen money to pay for her college.
As Dana Booker pointed out, that alone is a felony.
We can't blame Ava for wanting to keep her parents out of jail. Despite everything, she loves them and it's clear that they love her too.
Ava keeping her father's money and making things right went to prove that Ava doesn't believe in what her family is doing.
I don't think it was your dad who had a sudden change of heart. Maybe I was wrong about you after all.
Dana
Becoming like her father is Ava's biggest fear and that alone exemplifies that she will never be like him.
The liars all had to state their fears for The Professor, but Mona's reply was by far the greatest.
You wanna know what my greatest fear is? Dying before I find out who you are, bitch.
Mona
If anyone can get to the bottom of this, Mona can. After all, she has been on the other side of the game.
Overall, the PLL: The Perfectionists Season 1 Episode 10 was a relatively good installment.
However, Taylor's trailer going up in flames felt as if it was the only explosive thing on the PLL: The Perfectionists Season 1 finale.

It acted more like a Season 2 premiere than a finale episode, and while the experiment storyline is interesting, it didn't feel much like a cliffhanger rather than a new plot introduction.
Stray Thoughts:
- Now that we know Jeremy was only out to protect Caitlin ... is he okay??? The Professor appears to have no problem disposing of him.
- Claire and Mason? Really? That was the reason Claire fired Mona? We're happy Mona got her job back, but these relationships involving Mason are all kinds of uncomfortable.
- From the moment Dylan's high school bully was introduced it became clear that there was going to be some kind of relationship between the two. He seems awfully eager to make amends with Dylan. Can we not hurt Andrew again please?
- Alison longingly looking at the picture of Emily and her kids was heartbreaking. Please, get Emison back together.
- I'm still Team #Zava all the way. How could you not be?
