Dr. Kimberly "Kim" Briggs is a former urologist at Sacred Heart and the mother of J.D.'s first child, Sam. Ki eventually leaves for a hospital in Tacoma, returns and J.D. moves close enough to be by his son. She ends uup in a relationship with Sean Kelly, Elliot's ex.
