Haffner whistling this little ditty indicates that he is not the master and that he will be glad when the master is dead. Red John would never sing this song. Red john might sing THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, WHIP IT or BEAT IT. I would go so far as to say he might even sing BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY. But Red John would never sing Jimmy crack corn!

Ok, here's the nail in Haffner's coffin. Haffner was whistling the song Jimmy crack corn. This song is widely know as an old African American slave code song. When the master met his demise by what ever means, the slaves could not celebrate openly. Soooo, they came up with this song and sang it openly when the master died.
I've been thinking about Haffner. They showed him whistling, killing Lisbon, trying to force himself on her and just being straight out cult killer crazy. Why? He never behaved this way before. It's almost like saying this is not Red John. Red John would not expose himself in this manner and it would be a letdown if he were. His behavior was too in the open to be Red John. So when the big reveal came, you'd be like, yeah that's what they showed us in the second episode. So what would be the point of the rest of it. This would be a major spoiler and so based on that, I would say he's out. He may give Jane a hell of a fight but all the visuals and strange up front behavior suggests he a red herring.
@Katempw, I see you are on a role tonight! Lol. Love Tom's last name!
Bret Stiles will be my guy until he's eliminated. Nothing that has been said so far has proven that he is not.
That is true, he could have made her do that. Probably did because the whistling didn't start until this episode. Good observations. So he left the recorder there on purpose. Just like he got the files, he could have taken the recorder. He is trying to get Jane tossed off a roof?.you know Jane will try and test this theory.
@Carobachik, the American Psychiatric Association puts middle age at 45-65 yearsof age.
@Carobachik, I know what Heller is talking about. It's contained in Sophie Miller's recording. It said that Roth was a good whistler. She said his phobia of heights may or may not be true but that he does have a phobia, which is probably his fear of Jane. McAllister and Haffner are the only two that whistled in that episode. Don't get happy, the seven dwarfs minus one should start whistling their happy tunes.
@Carobachik, you are using the actors real age. No one knows what his tv age is. So you really can't go off that assumption. If you are right and we will know soon, you can do the dance! I personally like the moonwalk!
