I think it's incredibly clever to have Serena pitted against Sage - bitter it-girl with absentee parent ... turnbout's fair play, S! (BTW, Wonder if Taylor Swift and her little Kennedy high school sweetheart inspired the Nage storyline?)
I was such a huge fan for so long, but Blair for some reason is still a ridiculous caricature of herself, so if this episode didn't mark the turning point for her to become a normal, functioning, non-scheming adult I don't know if I can get invested enough in the rest of the season to enjoy the end of the series :( I just want to see her become the self-possessed, successful businesswoman she ought to be. Ugh!
That said, I LOVE Bart... There's a dynamic to the original full cast that is just magic, and this episode gave me a glimmer of hope that we'll see this go out on a high note after all. IF they straighten Blair out.
It's extremely common for first pregnancies to end in miscarriage, so that wouldn't just be a convenient way out for Blair. The assumption is that the baby is Chuck's because of their fling - but birth control can fail easily, and it wouldn't necessarily mean it was Chuck's...
I like Louis - he's a good man, and he accepts Blair, and they are growing as people being together. I just hope they don't turn him into a jerk somehow... if anything, my first thought was that she and Louis marry, but he is killed somehow, making Blair single and free again to be with Chuck. Chuck and Blair have to grow up before the writers will put them together at the end of the show, and Blair being a working princess would do that for her - and give her the power and sense of purpose she's been lacking and wanting. She'd come into the relationship with Chuck as an equal at that point.
So I'm thinking a miscarriage right before the wedding, the wedding goes forward, Louis's death being the first half season cliffhanger.
The way I see it, the writers have to start each season assuming it will be the show's last, so they have to leave all the characters into a situation by the last episode where they can either fulfill fan's dreams and put Blair and Chuck and Dan and Serena together if the show isn't renewed, or have a viable way to keep them apart another season if it is. That's incredibly difficult!
Dear God, no! Carrie is neurotic and introspective and fickle - Blake, and all her characters, have an unmistakeable laid-back vibe, casualness... Sarah Jessica Parker in real life actually shares some of the personality quirks of Carrie... Carrie also needs to not be a 'looker' - that has to be Samantha. Carrie needs quirky. Blake is, and does, not. And I'm sorry, but Blake simply isn't that good of an actress ... yet.
Blair and Chuck having a baby would kill the series - if Blair is pregnant, she'll have a miscarriage... that could, of course, result in a trip to the hospital. The other possibility is that Blair's mother is pregnant, because it would be a very high-risk pregnancy she'd need a lot of care - and she too could have an emergency.
There's no reason for B to move out of her mom's place when her mom lives in Paris, and any building B would move into would NOT have the Super showing them around - it would be a property manager, but B would only meet the Real Estate Agent. The fact they've got a scary neighborhood guy sounds like someone's walking past him in a building while they're looking for someone?
"Beauty and the Feast" - Wedding stress could certainly provoke B's bulimia, but it could also relate to a Monoco state dinner where something happens.
Brett Easton Ellis's book "Less than Zero" was set in L.A., and features wealthy kids and their empty lives consisting of partying and drugs and sex, with one guy in particular spiraling out of control. Could "Yes than Zero" allude to Chuck and Nate's visit to Los Angeles to see Serena? The producers hinted one of the guys stays behind in L.A... I'm assuming Nate, since Chuck has a business to run.
Absolutely - but mainly because after Season1, stupid iTunes doesn't post the gag reels and other extras you get on the DVD sets themselves. Incredibly annoying.
Winning raves? More like Razzies! I used to think Blake was just phoning in her role as Serena out of boredom, but after The Town, and now the clips I've seen of Green Lantern, she just has a flat delivery... Scarlett Johannson has the same acting 'style' *cough* *cough*, but she's made a career off her her breasts, and looks like Blake will, too.
No pregnancy test works in 24 hours, so it's highly unlikely Blair was worried she was pregnant from Chuck - even GG wouldn't be that unrealistic (would they)? I'm rooting for it to be Dorota, though it would be kindof odd that she was using Blair's personal bathroom to take the test, versus a guest bathroom. And Eleanor wouldn't for the same reason. But a Blair pregnancy and miscarriage or abortion would certainly be a massive dramatic arc for the next season...
For the love of God, do you know how hard it is to be a writer on a beloved show that may or may not be renewed each year?
They have to plot through the year to leave the possibility of Blair and Chuck finally getting together at the end of the Season, in case the show is not renewed.. That seems to have caused some of the strange machinations we've seen in S3 and S4 with Chair.
Endgame is Chair - but we saw that we need them apart for the duration of the show to keep viewers watching and to free up more plot lines. So stop asking the writers to bring them together anytime before the last few episodes of the last season!
I LIKED Season 4 because it did give some characters a chance to grow, and it did hold onto plotlines (on average) longer than in past seasons. Please give credit where credit is due. It wasn't perfect, but it was IMO better than the far more uneven and unbelievable S3.
And the finale more than balanced out any unevenness of the rest of the Season, giving us happy, laughing Blair and Chuck, gorgeous parties and clothes, a whole new facet to Dan's character we've been blissfully ignoring/ignorant of, and the return of Georgina. I'm sorry to see Reina go - I liked her chemistry with the cast... I hope they bring her back.
It only took 3 minutes for me to figure out they are her... she has a unique pattern of freckles/moles on her collarbone that are easily matched between the faceless photos and any red carpet photo showing her neck. I am sure it's embarrassing, but the fastest way to make something like this drop off the front page is to acknowledge it, and act like it's no big deal. Especially for a girl who has no problem being photographed in a tiny bikini, or in bandage dresses that are almost illegal in public, I am trying sooo hard to come up with a reason she's reacting so strongly that doesn't have to do with the possibility that she's succumbed to the H'wood machine view that no PR is bad PR. I'd like to see Blake use this as a chance to educate other girls that you can't assume ANYTHING you do on a phone or the internet is secure, so don't be tempted...

Things I loved about this episode:
- Blair being Blair, but without the silly shrill behavior of the first half season that risked making her a caricature
- Rufus and William's cattyness - normally this kind of banter is reserved for women, and it's awesome to see them go at it!
- Dan's denial to Eric about his feelings for Blair - hysterical and SO true to life - and to Dan's character
I like the adult storyline because the only way you remember the "kids" are actually kids in this story is when you juxtapose them against their parents, so I'm up for that. And it takes an episode to set up a new story, so I'm okay with this being a kindof 'plot-setting' episode.
Vanessa is boring. Ugh.
On Chair=endgame: the GG actors are contractual obligated through Season 6 - but Season 5 hasn't even been confirmed yet. So if Chair is endgame, and I trust it is, the writers have to figure out how to either keep Chair apart for at least 4 episodes, but possibly 1 more season, or even 2 more ... very difficult to pull off. I just can't see a Chair wedding before the series ends (or before the core cast leaves).
@Butterflylover has the most logical assessment I've seen - totally makes sense... And I can see GG pulling a "Friends" Ross-Emily-Rachel type scenario, where the relationship between Blair and the Prince is real, but in the end Blair can't go through with it. Chuck is slowly, slowly learning to open his heart again, and that's key for a Chair reunion...
Given the ratings, and the age of the cast, I can totally see Season 5 being GG's last, at least with the current cast. I think this is the rare show that could succeed with a new cast - keep Eric, Lily, and Rufus around for continuity and build a new cast who are rising juniors again... bring back the current cast for guest spots occasionally since their contracts are all for 7 seasons, that would give the show 2 years of transition.. Just a thought.
Interesting the way the article was reported.... there've long been rumors that Crawford is gay or at least "bi-more-than-a-little-curious", while Westwick's sexuality has only been questioned specifically because of his friendship with Crawford.
Don't care either way, but I'm just glad Crawford doesn't seem to feel compelled to drag around a beard...If his publicist sets him up on a date with Taylor Swift, they should be fired for outing him LOL
This was the episode I will love to hate - AND hate to love. I'm no DAIR fan, but kudos to the writers for actually making it feel plausible and realistic - and for finding a way to keep CHAIR apart without making them angry with each other...
- LOVE Dan kicking V to the curb - he's stuck in UES World but he's finally owning it!
- LOVE Raina's character... a girl with Chuck's libido and savvy and Nate's heart - bravo writers!
- LOVE Lilly's plotline... it's about time the adults become more than windowdressing to the kids
- LOVE Ben's "multiple personality" thing... this guy is scary good at being scary bad!
Nothing negative to say here, even if I absolutely do NOT want to see Dan and Blair in an actual relationship. They are a great foil for each other, but ewwww. And as plausible as a kiss may be, a relationship? uh, no. But c'est la vie... Chair is endgame, so nothing else really bothers me :)
Always had the feeling Jessica was in it for the attention as much as for him, while he was actually smitten with her... for awhile. Seems she and Blake have a lot in common - they're both ladder-climbers and fame-hungry. Leighton, Ed, Penn, and even Chace seem to be more cautious about how they build their careers - Blake and Jessica rely an awful lot on their cleavage to create buzz. :(
I think it's a great idea to keep the flirtation going for an extended period of time... There's no mystery in Chair or Derena, we know how they feel... having a guessing game again is healthy for the show - especially if it's going to be renewed for 2012. Chuck and Blair can't be a couple again until the last season, because they're boring together.
Anyway Dan's been dating someone since day one, and Blair's heart belongs to Chuck, but she's dated a stoner (Nate) and a bon vivant, so she is due a chance to hang with a man who's got as much going on between his ears (if not more) than between his legs! Bring on the - platonic - tension.
I'm not a country music fan, but I hope her movies kick butt - I've been very frustrated at all the attention Blake's getting, which is more because Anna Wintour likes her - not on her actually abilities as an actress. Blake may become a celebrity, but Leighton could become a star... Go Leighton!
Tattos and piercings have gone so mainstream, there's little left to shock people... but dressing like a poor man's GaGa isn't shocking or original or even interesting - it's just being a typical brooding, pissy teen. Bravo Taylor, you just keep proving how typical and average you really are!
Most teens don't go this far to get attention, but few are raised in the glare of the twisted H'wood spotlight that rewards people for doing outlandish things. However, the fact Momsen actually has some talent is totally being overshadowed by her ridiculous playing at rebellion, and if she wants longevity eventually she'll need to shut up about herself and just sing...
Two things.... first, we know Taylor's supposed to be 5'10" in real life, but she's in stiletto boots and Dan's the same height - are the guys ALL wearing lifts in their shoes now?!
Second, I love this picture because it shows Taylor's AMAZING range as an actress - this is SO different from every photo of her in the magazines and her Material Girl ads! Nice to see she can change it up
Momsen is 'phoning it in', and can't hide it. She's been voicing her contempt for acting ever since she got booked on the Warped Tour. Ungrateful whiner, talent or not. Jenny is boring because Taylor is not even trying.
1. "This means war..." I've waited two years for that! The only thing better than Chair scheming against each other is Chair scheming with each other.
2. Dan finding out via Google. You can't blame her for bailing after 10 minutes - they're 19 years old for God's sake... reason isn't relevant in affairs of the heart.
3. Since I like Serena when she's on her own better, I'm going with Danessa... besides, if Vanessa has to be around, I want her annoying Dan the way she annoys me.
4. Who would Serena be without an adversary to rally against? It's never her fault! What other reason is necessary?
5. It will be a tie... Chuck already did his worst to Blair, so if he wins she'd never reconcile with him, and Blair can't win without truly stopping loving Chuck - and neither of those things can happen if "Chair is endgame", which is a foregone conclusion. My guess is in the end, something horrid will happen to Blair in the midst of their ongoing war, and Chuck will rescue her, realizing he cannot live without her. Or the show will jump the shark and the last episode will have Blair waking up and Chuck's in the shower and everything since Jack's betrayal was a dream LOL
