I'm pretty sure they just use one stage now, starting last season. This is where the finals will be. Since they only do one week of semifinals they just do it all in the same place. Speaking of...I hate that they cut it from 24 to 12 in one week now. I really enjoyed when they would cut two guys and two girls for the first few weeks.
@Miranda- Battle Royale between Voice and X Factor? More like a slam dunk. There is definitely a conversation to be had in deciding between Voice and Idol, but X Factor doesn't belong in the same conversation. It was just a very mediocre attempt in its first season.
@oth- I don't think anyone thinks Julian is beating himself up too much. He has every right to be as hard on himself as he would like, and when it comes to your kids, why wouldn't he? I think what some are complaining about (me included) is that we don't like seeing him upset. I understand why the character is doing it, I just wish he hadn't made the mistake in the first place, so that he now has to act this way. Fun Julian is a more entertaining Julian.
@Cathy- "Anyone watching this show from the beginning knows Dan has acted worse. You don't actually believe her reformed himself a few years ago, did you?"
I do indeed believe there is a good chance Dan is trying to reform himself. When I said it would be a horrible character arc, I was referring to his time over the entire series. To have this guy, who got as low as he did in killing his brother, come back and do something almost as terrible in kidnapping and harming his own son, would be a pretty awful picture to paint.
I think the more likely conclusion is that this is in fact Dan Scott's redemption. He saved the day before, in taking out Nanny Carrie, but saving Nathan from whatever monster has him captured, might be what he needs to do in order to be redeemed at all.
@Li- Do I remember all of my classmates from eighth grade? Absolutely. Did I have way more than 14 classmates (There were 15 Mousketeers in Xtina's third season)? Yes. Maybe disrespectful is wrong word, but I sure would have felt slighted by her not remembering me. Maybe that's just me.
After taking the time to go back and watch the premiere, the argument between Clay and Quinn was definitely the exact same scene that was shown in the "flash forward" at the beginning of the season.
So now we can probably rule out that any of those moments were dream or movie related, as they will likely start happening to the characters as the episodes continue.
Why spread them out like this? Was that just a snippet of what the audience was going to see throughout the season? If so, it's an unconventional choice, but one that definitely got most of our interests peaked.
@Aya- Great call on the callback to Karen and Deb defacing the Dan billboard!
Also, I completely agree with everyone that it probably won't be Nathan who dies. That would just be some cruel and unusual punishment after these nine years.
@Lynne- Why yes...I did watch. As inept as I sometimes am, I too knew that Julian forgot to drop Davis off and was in the car. On the other hand, I'm not sure they did a great job of portraying exactly how long Julian was gone for. He went to the ATM and he went to the liquor store, but if he walked there, how could he really have been gone?
@Ira and JB- Yeah good call. The way things worked out, Boyd was able to do what he needed to do. If the status quo had stayed in place, what would have happened? Nothing? Hard to tell. Might Boyd have figured out another way to get close and alone with Dickie?
What????? Did Shane Bruce reference his song "Hallelujah" as being from Shrek?!?!?! They should have sent him out of the audition right then and there.
@Bzzh and @jack- that would make more sense. It seriously sounded like "intents and purposes" to me, but again, that would have been pointless. Good call.
@fortyseven- yeah, smashing the mailbox on his way out the door. I don't know what to think about it. I was pretty down on Jim in this entire episode. What are your thoughts on him leaving the party that drunk?
@CeS- I wanted to mention the cold open, but it really didn't fit. I actually loved it. Stanley has really progressed as a character as of late. He's so sad and boring most of the time, that when he cracks up at meatball jokes, it makes it even that more funny. The fact that it was a ruse with Dwight to get free dinner, was just the cherry on top.

@Matt- "Louis CK on Parks and Recreation. The funniest comedian on the funniest show? Yeah. It's hard to go wrong with that."
Wow. This was easily the worst thing of the week. I would love to argue over that fact at some point.
