Damn right @blueirisheis!! I personally think they both have a lot of growing up to do and can help each other do that. Zoe is lost as anything - no woman with half a brain would be chasing a man that's engaged and getting caught up with the mess of his fiance having cheated on him. He ran to Zoe as the rebound and a smart woman with good friends would've seen that. Zoe couldn't see what was happening between her and Wade because she's always so preoccupied with some other guy around her.
Wade at his core, has a good heart. He's immature and he doesn't believe in himself to even think Zoe would ever see him as having any worth so of course he's always backed away from telling her the truth or missing those moments to say it like it is. When he finally did almost say it, she already knew and was warned by Lavon to not hurt him because he is one of the good ones. She didn't care because George was her priority - she has her mind set on him being perfect for her. I think it's clear that both Zoe and Wade are just as messed up as each other when it comes to love...
I only hope this damn show gets another season so we can see great things happen. It's not looking good though... WE NEED TO TUNE IN LIVE AND WATCH ONLINE AT HULU!! Kapeesh?! ;)
Sorry T - I realized some of that info I actually got out of your comment too. Thanks for that.
@Mrs alex o'loughlin I'm hoping the three casualties will be Nikita, Ringer and The L.A Complex but you never with CW. I really like HOD and can see the fan base has honestly grown quite a lot over the past few weeks (getting better ratings that the three shows mentioned) so I'll keep positive about it :)
T, I looked into it further and you’re right. Watching it live definitely helps but if you DVR it, your view apparently counts as long as you watch within three days from the show airing.
If you watch online the best site is Hulu (/hart-of-dixie) as it’s a legal site that actually tracks viewer data for networks like CW. If you’re really into the show - watch it live on Monday night and then again online at Hulu.
CW also takes into account social media which means checking out the Hart of Dixie Facebook page and tweeting about it (#hartofdixie) all helps.
Honestly, I really like this show and it's better to fight for a show you enjoy then have it cancelled because something better is apparently being picked up and hyped up for it to… not be.
A lot of those that like Hart of Dixie have been saying this recently but if you do enjoy HOD and want another season then the next two weeks ratings will really be the deciding factor.
If you watch it online or DVR the show to watch something else first - your view doesn't count toward the viewer ratings that matter. These ratings have been increasing over the past few weeks with more and more support but it still needs a lot more behind it.
To support the show, watch Hart of Dixie live on the CW on Monday night so that your view will count and DVR other shows that happen to be on at the same time or watch those shows online. HOD really needs support over the next two weeks and hopefully we’ll hear good news about a second season!
I think it's important for us viewers of HOD to give our opinions on the show too because it shows we care and desperately want a 22 episode second season since its unsure what CW still plans to do.
Here's my prediction for the season finale though... I think it will be Tom and Wanda that actually get married; something just tells me there still might be a twist. However, I'm definitely all for Zoe and Wade - it might just not be the right time for George and Lemon to get married so soon with the few problems they need to work through.
(cont) Later on when Lavon went over to talk to Zoe she's wearing Wade’s jacket - did she get cold and he was sweet and gave it to her? Did she keep it from the non-existant clothes swap? :/ Who knows…
Anyway, Wades little line was so sad... "The only thing you wanted is what you always do, him."
Next week’s preview doesn’t look like Zoe has her wakeup moment either. She’s still talking about being in love with someone that’s marrying someone else and then decides it’s best to just leave Bluebell.
Completely agree with Ashley - 'I don't think Wade screwed up at all. Zoe is a snob and single-minded at this point, and SHE was definitely the screw up this episode and deserved to be called out for it." Even tonight when Wade's in front of her, finally with courage about to say what she already knows from Lavon - that Wade likes her, she continues to pine for George. George may have liked the idea of Zoe but his heart is with Lemon, they have a 15 year relationship and a 'Zoe' coming to town during bad times could not break that.
There's a whole lot of chemistry on screen though between Zoe and Wade… even the way she ran to him at the beginning of the race was incredibly cute. What I am confused by though is the lack of scenes from the amazing screen shots. The one above of Wade shooting her a cheeky look - that didn't happen in the episode, all we saw was them argue whilst making the wheelbarrow. Wade and Zoe swapping clothes... didn't happen. Later on when Lavon went over to talk to Zoe she's wearing Wade’s jacket - did she get cold and he was sweet and gave it to her? Did she keep it from the non-existant clothes swap? :/ Who knows…

This show's actually a big hit with my family (but we're Aussies so we're also team Sam Neill!). The family all congregates at mine and try to figure out what could be happening :)
Honestly though, like others have said - it's incredibly refreshing so I couldn't believe it's even 'on the fence' with not being renewed?! How frustrating...
Thanks for doing this interview Matt!
I think it's easy to say Wilson Bethel has made a lot of us fall in love with him and of course his character Wade. :)
It's horrible this whole season has been about love triangles (everywhere in that town) but I can't wait for Z+W to finally want to be with each other but also remain the different and yet similar characters they are because the fun/kooky/different moments that will come from that will be great. It'll also be nice to see a more chivalrous/trying to be romantic Wade.
I actually also love when they give us more character background and although it's nice to have light-hearted moments I really think the actors on this show are great enough to take on some honest 'real human' moments. I was crying when Jamie King was because she rocked those scenes!
So, I'm now looking forward to the next episode because it’s dawned on me since learning the title of this past episode that maybe the title 'Destiny and Denial' was actually the writers little way of telling us that Zoe's foreseen destiny as she wants to see it, is actually a great deal of denial about George. I'm not sure… but I do REALLY want these guys to get a second season. I think it’s taken the writers this first season to figure out that maybe who they originally saw as the main love interest (although lovely) was not the best decision. The show really could’ve been about something better than more love triangles.
I really do hope they get another season because it looks like since the last few episodes focussing around George and Zoe... a lot of viewers have switched over and they've gone from being a safe bet to a possibility that the show will actually be cancelled.
The writers deserve another chance to rock the crap out of this show.
I loved this episode - every moment of it! Everything that happened made sense and like Matt said, didn't feel forced.
I'm not a viewer that's incredibly against Damon - I LOVE his character but I can't deny that my heart has always been with Stefan and Elena. I just hope they don't continue to write Elena going back and forth between the two brothers because it will eventually get weird and tiresome (as the past few weeks have shown).
Anyway, loved this ep and I'm now officially scared of Alaric and what he's going to do to the vampires in this town now that he's some unstoppable vampire hunter... oh my god!! :S
I just don't see 'it' between Zoe and George but one photo of Wade shooting a look over at her and there 'it' is.
Also, there's just so much room to grow these two as the 'heart' of the show but it seems as though an entire season has gone by and sadly, these characters haven't developed a whole lot.
I loved this episode but I definitely got the feeling they didn't want Nick and Jess to have TOO much chemistry during their little 'passionate' fight.
I was waiting for Nick/Jess to stop and have an 'I could rip all of your clothes off right now' look towards each other but nope. I dunno just a bit odd that they wrote in the crazy/passionate fight that Jess was looking for but no 'moment'. Anyway, love this show :)
(cont) … He got up and checked the stove. "What are you planning on using for sauce?" Zoe retrieved a jar of Ragu from the pantry. "This," she told him. "I couldn't decide which kind so I just closed my eyes and picked one." Wade took the jar. "Tomato and basil flavored," he read. "Spaghetti sauce flavored with tomatoes. Imagine that."
She also writes chivalrous moments for Wade too and Zoe noticing them but seriously this is the quirky/chemistry filled lovableness I thought Hart of Dixie was going to be something like and was SOooo looking forward to! Oh my god… let her become a writer PLEASE….
CindyLou... I don't know if you'll see this comment but thank you so much for sharing the ‘Rescue Me’ Hart of Dixie fanfiction. I’ve honestly never read a fanfiction but THAT is better than the show!! Whoever wrote that has stayed true to the characters yet has developed them so well without going off track or doing things that quite simply wouldn’t make sense. She even developed a decent plotline for Judson… an actual reason for him to ever have been a part of the show (besides sleeping with her NY best friend whilst trying to date her and then deciding she’d date him again 0_o).
I love how well she stays true to the characters little quirks…
"Cooking," Zoe said again. "It was a slow day at the office so we closed a little early and I decided to work on my domestic skills seeing as I can't have Chinese food delivered to my door around here. Google told me spaghetti was a good place to start but clearly, Google doesn't know everything." … He got up and checked the stove. "What are you planning on using for sauce?" I know URL's don't work in these comments but I just heard about a poll CW has going asking who you think Zoe has better chemistry with... George or Wade? Just google 'Hart of Dixie CW Poll' and it should be the first google match.
Highly doubt it makes ANY difference with the writing of the show but take part if you like :)
Matt your statement... "Then it seemed like someone simply decided Zoe's true feelings lay with George, which has left the show scrambling with what to do with Wade" is spot on!
LoveWade and cindylou you two have also summed up EXACTLY how I'm feeling about Hart of Dixie. The last two episodes have been better than the past but at the same time I'm left really confused. Zoe and George make great friends but she's all of a sudden gone bat crazy for him. I thought when George was having his somber moment Zoe was also having her 'wakeup' moment so to speak but instead in that moment she found hope for her and him?!
Seriously, what ever happened to that moment where Wade asked Zoe out for a coffee and she rainchecked but turned with cute smiles and interest, it's just forgotten. It honestly doesn't make sense and seems like the writers have decided they want to aim Zoe towards George now so that's what they're going to do. It wouldn't surprise me if each episode this season has been based on a coin toss. Heads George is the love interest, Tails Wade.
(cont) but at the end of the day that's overlooked quite a bit. How could these brothers ever have a relationship in the long run if they both want to be with the same woman? I don't know maybe as a viewer (even though I've watched every episode) I've missed something. I'll continue to keep faith because I believe Plec knows what she’s doing and regardless, it's still the best show on television.
Personally, I think the 'shipping wars' are getting out of control. I miss the great storytelling behind this show. I just don't buy into the idea that any brother would be all for a girl that can't decide between him and his brother... WHAT?! I admit I did love Stefan and Elena together because there was this idea that beyond being a vampire this guy just wanted to be normal again and love... Elena was his everything. Meanwhile, Damon's character was and is awesome, I mean his lines... I loved the "Alright Whoopi" line towards Jeremy. Damn straight I caught that Patrick Swayze 'Ghost' reference and LOVED it! :D
I sort of do think that some things have just been dodged to make it easier. Elena continued to fight for Stefan but he constantly pushed her away (actually treated her like crap some of the time). Stefan gave up everything to save his brother from death but that has just been tip-toed around. Damon has absolutely influenced what has happened between Elena and Stefan but at the end of the day that's overlooked quite a bit. How could these brothers ever have a relationship in the long run if they both want to be with the same woman? I don't know maybe as a viewer (even though I've watched every episode) I've missed something. I just wanted to come back and see what everybody had to say and I couldn't agree more - this was such a great episode. The thing that I liked the most in all honesty was that the whole cheating storyline finally came to a close or at least became a reason it was even written into the show. We're up to episode 18 now so it's about time! The primary focus being on that, silly events and love storylines that had no depth was killing me so gosh, I'm so glad another good episode finally happened. I swear the last episode I actually liked if I'm honest was probably the little cliff-hanger between Zoe and Wade during the mid-season break at Christmas.
I looooooooved this episode!! Finally!! The characters actually did things that made sense and here's how I know I loved the episode... I didn't have the urge to fast forward through boring conversations. I love that Wade had maturity and told Zoe how it is but I love those two on screen together so from the start of the episode I was already happy. Wades brother was great and it gave Wade more depth. George leaving Lemon - it made sense, who would stick around? Then George telling Zoe that wasn’t something a friend would do – spot on. She was in a crappy situation but you have to own that you chose who you would protect. I truly loved this episode and THANK GOD because I was this episode away from tuning out for good. Let’s hope they keep it up. :)
Other than the handful of those interested in the George/Zoe storyline; I have to say I'm definitely with everyone else on this.
Last night's episode was nothing great. There's a clear chemistry/excitement/cute/fun factor to the Wade and Zoe pairing and prior to the mid-season break I thought this show was going to be about a fantastic, oddly cute couple, from two different backgrounds, seeing if this could work. Small town gossip, weird annual events, meeting each other's families, cute relationship moments and relationship quarrels but still being great for each other and entertaining for us. However, it's turned into a predictable love triangle/circle with recycled plot lines. Good shows have you looking forward to next week but there's nothing I can think of that's truly interesting happening next week. Maybe they'll get some new writers in? Hopefully... :/
