With regard to Ruby, I'm not all about kicking her off the show. She's just a character that happens to now be a part of the show to me BUT (if I'm completely honest) I do notice I find myself doing very small fast forwards through her scenes. I hate being critical like this... her voice. Is that the character's voice she's created or the actors? It's like a slow whisper or something and it detracts from her scenes. I feel like she does it for the character because she's meant to be slightly stuck-up and a little fake whilst she's also had scenes with Zoe where it hasn't been so pronounced and I've found them much more enjoyable to watch...
P.s Kate, I'm right there with you about Tansy/Magic Mike (trying to get past it) lol :/
I haven't been a huge fan of Leila's writing in the past but this episode was SO good!! I loved that it connected to past events whilst there were also new events happening between characters. It was so nice to see Wade’s father again (I'm going to choose to ignore that the flash mob EVER HAPPENED). So many characters were great fun to watch together… Earl and Zoe with Zoe’s mother, Wade and Zoe’s mother, Wade and Zoe, Wade and Earl, George and Tansy, Lemon with everyone lol.
Also, the last episode Leila wrote… Wade was unrecognizable but this time around he was much more Wade-like. :D Honestly, it was a really enjoyable episode. I may have been crying when Wade and Earl were talking about the past and Wade’s mother :’(
The ending… my mouth dropped open when those words came out of Zoe’s mouth… followed by ridiculously stupid screaming. The carollers… :) THANK YOU LEILA!
(continued...) All the while Wade has made it clear that he holds Zoe more importantly than just a casual sleeping buddy whilst Zoe (whether the writers have stayed true to that in every episode) has for some time now, been aware of Wade's feelings for her. They're constantly enjoying each other’s company and are there for each other much more than just sex buddies (several conversations included with clothes on). I'm sorry but that first statement is just incredibly incorrect.
I actually wonder if Zoe has really, really started to like Wade and begun realizing his importance to her that it scares her she could lose him completely if they do make things more serious and for some reason it doesn’t work out. Of course this is an adult woman’s way of thinking and sometimes they write Zoe to be quite the opposite.
“I totally ship a third season to this show it's unique and addicting†haha so true Nikki :)
I REALLY loved this weeks episode and yet... oh my god Zoe! grrr... "I don't get it. She has had plenty of conversations with Wade in bed and out, why is this so difficult for her? I just wanted to knock some sense into her." Exactly.
Also... this statement that "Wade apparently gets to decide exactly when everything in this relationship happens" - WWWWWHAT?!!? I'm pretty sure they were both 50/50 in when they kicked off their benefits deal, and then it was Zoe that decided she wanted a monogamous relationship, AND THEN IT WAS ZOE that made it clear George was still in the picture whilst she made rules for Wade to abide by as her and Wade were obviously getting more serious, AND THEN IT WAS ZOE that asked for romance which Wade went about trying to make happen for her. All the while Wade has made it clear that he holds Zoe more importantly than just a casual sleeping buddy whilst Zoe (whether the writers have stayed true to that in every episode) has for some time now, been aware of Wade's feelings for her. They're constantly enjoying each other’s company and are there for each other much more than just sex buddies (several conversations included with clothes on). I'm sorry but that first statement is just incredibly incorrect.
Yeah I agree Sarah -"from the beginning, i didn't like the whole love triangle because as gorgeous as damon is- i can't deny the fact that lusting over his brother's girlfriend is plain out horrible". I know logic gets thrown out the window with this show but sex definitely changes everything and two brothers having a woman go back and forth between them. I can't. So, I don't really know what to make of the three main characters anymore. There's a lot of viewers that cheer on Damon and Elena being together and find reasoning behind every move so maybe that would be the safe bet for the shows longevity. I honestly loved the relationship between Elena and Stefan but yeah... we'll see what happens with the show I suppose. 0_o
Completely agree ReneeM. There was definitely character growth this episode, like there has been in many episodes in the past however; it's the consistency of these new developments being continued into episodes to come that I get annoyed by. We find a new piece of information about a character's background or their thoughts/feelings on something and then it could be as soon as the following episode that it's easily forgotten. So yes, I agree "the writers of HOD are very inconsistent in character development; it's the weakest part of the show".
I'm still going to try to find time to re-watch the episode though. I've said it before but it's definitely Wade and Zoe's chemistry that has me returning to the show (they're definitely not boring in my opinion).
(Cont) So, I think Wade's going to back off and Zoe's going to have her light bulb moment about him. Maybe…
This is a little more like the Wade we were after... that truly really likes... maybe even *cough* loves Zoe? :) But I honestly think Wade is far more clued up then some of the writers write him. One of my pet peeves with Hart of Dixie is the lack of character consistency. I wish all the writers had character profiles they could refer back to and with every new piece of information about a character - it's jotted down and held true by every other writer. Some episodes Wade is written as a complete fool which he's of course not perfect (it's what we love about him) but it can be taken to a whole other level whilst there's been several scenes where he's then written to be far more clued up and capable of intense emotions. Anyway, overall I really enjoyed the episode and that last scene knocked it out of the park. Also, I believe the next episode is about Zoe trying to win a date with Wade and she apparently has far more competition than she expected ...or something like that. So, I think Wade's going to back off and Zoe's going to have her light bulb moment about him. Maybe…
(Continued...) I just think he's such an interesting character on the show and it was painful to see him screwed over by a terrible writing choice.
