I agree it's Adele - she's fairly beloved, Shonda's been phasing her out, and she has a major illness. And frankly, Shonda can't afford to kill off any more integral character, unless she wants an uprising, not to mention losing even more fans. Honestly, it would be nice if she put half as much effort into Grey's as she is into that stupid Scandal show these days.
And while I applaud the idea of killing off Izzy in a rather painful manner, it's not gonna be her because that would not only be a horrible, disconnected storyline, it would involve bringing her back to the show.
rebeca - why did you hear that Christina could be joining another show next year? If that rumor is at ALL valid, it's a terrifying thought!!!
Has it actually been confirmed that the show is ending? Or is everyone just assuming it is since Addie is leaving at the end of this season? (Hopefully to go back to Greys!)
Honestly, I have mixed feelings about it continuing without her anyways....just haven't heard anything official yet. Did I miss it?
To make me think her and Shonda were fighting or something. I mean she gives Mark a two episode arc and posts a eulogy for him and Lexie gets nothing in comparison. Was really necessary to have her frickin body EATEN?? The huge discrepancy in the treatment of the characters is appalling.
SR needs to stop obsessing over Scandal and start giving the show that made her name the attention and thought it deserves.
I can let the lack of detail about the reaction at SGMW and how Exactly Mark died (internal massive injuries I assume) and the other small things go.
What PISSES me off is lack of acknowlege and closure for Lexie and Mark. All they get is five minutes in the finale and then two one minute shout-outs? They need some kind of spiritual reunion scene - like at a joint funeral scene. I'm not saying full out ghostly action but just something like the elevator scene with Izzie and George. Confirmation for the fans that they are actually together and happy.
AND where is the grief and the send off for Lexie??? Her death has been seriously ignored in comparison to Marks - not that he didn't deserve such a send off. That's the point - when such an integral character dies it should be a big deal. It's just been 'Lexi's dead, too late for her amd Mark, oh well, and btw her body was fought over by wild animals.'
It's enough of a lack of respect to her character to make me think her and Shonda were fighting. I mean SR gives Mark a huge tearful send off over two episodes AND writes him a frickin eulogy, but does absolutely nothing for Lexie. WHAT THE H*LL????
While the idea of new characters is distressing because they could pull the main storyline away from the Regulars, but keep a few things in mind.
One, the storyline made this necessary. Three of the six attendings - Mark, Der, AZ - will be recovering for quite awhile from the injuries caused by the crash. And Teddy has moved on. The hospital will have to bring in at least temporary help to get through it.
Two, that doesn't mean they are staying. Casting for one or two or three episodes is not the same as casting new regulars. These newbies could be just for potential story arcs in the aftermath of the crash, and then leave. Nothing about them being REGULARS has been confirmed.
Three, it's always hard to welcome new characters, especially after losing old. But if the show didn't do that, it would never have Mark, Callie, AZ, Owen, etc. And would never have had Lexie or Teddy in the first place.
I can't believe I didn't know there was Sherlock page on TV-Fanatic until this moment!!!!!
All the theories are really interesting, but I can only speculate so far. One, I think Moriarty is going to be actually dead and stay that way. But this gives a great opening for Moran to come in, just like in the books. As for how, Sherlock lived, I have no idea, but am sure it will be genius.
More interesting to me, is how they are gonna reunite Watson and Sherlock. In the books, he sneaks in as a shabby homeless person, whips off his disguise, and Watson faints. Personally, I always thought that was a bit off. Wouldn't anger be the more natural reaction? I am really curious to see how the writers work that. That for me is the best thing about the show, is how true they are to books, while being modernized. Way better than the American movies.
@deeg Could not agree more - no one else needs to die!!! Got that Shonda?! Seriously? SERIOUSLY!!
There was a rumor of Teddy getting her own show, which I think could be cool. They could do it around her new position in the Army. It could be like MASH meets Grey's, and come in just a Practice is finishing out. And then Teddy can pop back in for cross-overs, like Addy did for so long.
But Lexie? Let's just say I am still mourning George, so it's safe to say I'm still upset about that. : (
And on another page on here there was someone who said they thought Derek should die. I understand that there most people have a character they can't stand (for me Izzy), but the show has been based off Mer and Der since the first scene of the first episode. He's not going anywhere. So again, why are you watching the show? Or on a site looking up spoilers?
Sorry for going into full blown rant mode, but its a pet peeve of mine.
I have to agree with @GA Fan - if you hate main characters that much, ie Derek and Meredith - why do you watch the show in the first place? It was built around them and their crazy ass relationship. They aren't going anywhere!!
I'm still confused as to why people think Mer is pregnant. There haven't been any signs. Yes, she threw up - for two days and nights straight with the stomach flu from her daughter. Is it just from wanting to work an actual baby in while Addison is still around? Wishful thinking? Or did I miss something?
I hate to point this out, but the main characters just became fellows, not full-blown attendings. They are still being trained, albeit at the highest level. The chances of any of them becoming Head of their relative departments are really slim.
The two older doctors they are looking to cast are probably related to this. They are the right age for very experienced doctors who would be considered for the Head position. Maybe they will be competing for the cardio spot.
And while, Izzy may have expressed interest in coming back, it was never reciprocated by Shonda or ABC. Frankly, I think this is a good thing. Starting with Season 5, her character became very annoying. She groundlessly blamed Alex when she got fired for practically killing a woman. Then threw a fit and left without word, breaking his heart. He deserves better. I sincerely hope she does not return.
In order for Practice to continue, it would need to shift the focus to Amelia.
Most became fans of Practice because of Grey's and that would keep the tie to the original show alive. And allow for crossovers more easily. Plus, if Amelia's there is a lot more room for growth in the show. CharCoop are great, but they are at a really settled point in their storyline.
Either way Addison will be severely missed - both on Private Practice and on Grey's!!!!!
Lexie's death was terrible - like my friend and I literally are in mourning - but Mark still has a place on the show without her. He has been around since Season 3. He's Derek's bestie, Jackson's mentor, and has Sophia with Calzona. Plus, he's hilarious.
If Arizona gets killed, that will be devastating. Just saying.
What's Going to Happen:
Owen will be the first to find out about the crash and will go into instant crisis mode. Along with him, Kepner, Avery, Bailey, the Chief (Webber - who will always be 'the Chief'), and Alex are gonna have to do most of the surgeries. Callie will be completely off the deep end and not much help. The rest are either really badly injured - Mark, Der, Arizona - and won't be able to operate. Christina could either have internal injuries or go all badass and operate even though she's a victim. Mer will be useless, as usual, in crisis.
Once things cool down, Owen could step down and then Bailey should totally become Chief. She would be the best ever and they've been building towards it for years.
Two questions:
Where did the rumor that Mer is pregnant come from?
And who would want to see Rose back?? She was awful and there's no way Der said her name.
And honestly, I don't think ABC would allow the actors/actresses to resign just to buy them out. Nor would an actor/actress resign for two years just to up and leave. So I am almost positive Derek, Mer, Christina, Webber, Alex, and Bailey are all safe.
Callie can be heard on the narration but that doesn't mean she does the whole thing by herself. During major disasters they have done group VO where a lot of characters take part. Maybe she's just the first.
The "6 went down" and "1 will die" could be unrelated events. Such a major disaster is a perfect and textbook Shonda Rhimes blind. When has she ever been predictable? Remember Dell? Remember George?
This is scary situation for everyone but people need to step back and look at the facts.
1. The originals - Webber, Bailey, Alex, Mer, Derek, and Christina were on the "safe list" and just signed 2 yr contracts. They are not dying. Not even Greys could hold a major character on the show as a ghost for that long. So maybe they get injured, but they are NOT dying.
2. Mark and Avery were also on the "safe list." They are not dying.
3. Shonda Rhimes said it was a beloved character, so much so that the writers cried, which never happens. So April, Owen, Teddy, Ben, and maybe even Callie can be ruled out. Various fans like them yes, but have they been around long enough for the writers to be attached strongly enough to be in tears? Not in my opinion.
4. It has been confirmed that someone dies, that someone important dies. It has NOT been confirmed that someone dies in the plane crash. That is an assumption everyone has taken for granted. The "6 went down" and "1 will die" could be unrelated events. Such a major disaster is a perfect and textbook Shonda Rhimes blind. When has she ever been predictable? Remember Dell? Remember George?
5. In a spoiler on here, Shonda said she had learned since George there are some characters you can't kill. So that helps to eliminate Lexie, along with my 4th point, even though I can see the writers possibly crying over her. Plus, earlier this year, she was willing to be the Grey in GA, if Ellen Pompeo didn't resign. If she's leaving, her mind changed really quickly. Arizona can be eliminated for much of the same reasons, particularly, 4 and 3.
6. At the beginning of this year, maybe before the season even started, there was a spoiler on here about it being Adele's last season. But no one remembers it.
Adele being the major death is perfect. It gives her an exit with closure. It is unexpected. She has been around since the first season and I would say she's beloved enough to make the WRITERS cry, especially for Webber's pain.
Logically, she's the only one who makes sense. Or I'm in denial. ; )
