  1. NCIS Season Finale Review: "Pyramid"

I would think it had to be Ray in the folder Tony got (which would also suggest that the text Ray got was from the bad guys he's involved with who want him to kill Kort ... and the message that he's in Tel Aviv could also explain Ray's involvement with Ziva). The thing is, if it is Ray, Ziva will really flip out on Tony. What a conflict that would turn out to be!
  2. Glee Song Spoilers: What's Ahead?

This is a great story -- and I like these old stories.

I read long ago that the stage would be dark except for a streetlight and spot on it and Brice would come out in rags to close the Follies each night by singing "My Man." I did some brief searching on the internet for current verification, but my dial up is so slow I soon gave up.

    What I did find:

Fanny appeared in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1921. With Nick's trial imminent, Ziegfeld gave Fanny the song "My Man" to sing. It was an English-language version of "Mon Homme" which was introduced in Paris. The audience empathized with Fanny, and understood that the words of the song mirrored her real-life situation. It's said she never sang the song without closing her eyes and thinking of Nick.

    and:

It was popularized in the English speaking world in the 1920s with the 1921 recording by Ziegfeld Follies singer Fanny Brice. The song was a hit, and the record eventually earned a Grammy Hall of Fame Award for Brice in 1999.
  3. Bones Review: Lime in the Coconut

I liked this episode (but then I like the show and watch it because I enjoy the episodes). A thing that I like when it happens is when Brennan asked if she'd done something wrong, and was reassured that she hadn't, that she'd done something especially right. I liked too how Brennan was trying to answer Nigel about allowing him to stay -- meaning I liked how she is the supportive boss personality, even if her intellect and life experiences haven't prepared her to be that kind of person. I like how she's oblivious at times but cares so much about the team

Remember when Cam first came and decided she'd have to fire Brennan ... and then had to figure out why everyone, including Booth whom she used to sleep with, would quit if she did?

This episode showcased Brennan like they haven't in awhile.

And I'm glad it wasn't Sweets. After Booth and Brennan (and her father and cousin/real-life-sister), I like Sweets best. I guess Daisy is gone for good because she graduated??
  4. The Big Bang Theory Review: "The Engagement Reaction"

Priya is a little cold (like "Scary Quinn" in Glee). Sheldon and Amy are vulnerable, even at their most insensitive. That's the difference (to me). A lot of super smart scientists are emotionally cool and distracted rather than eccentric and as up front as Sheldon and Amy are. That is, if they want, down the road, they can make Priya warmer and generate some audience care for her.
  5. Glee Review: "Prom Queen"

A thing that I think is especially confusing about Quinn is that the writer/producers (going back to comments made after the restart from the initial 13 episodes) reset the characters rather than let them grow and develop and solve all their problems. So, Quinn and Mercedes could develop a friendship when she needs to move out of Puck's ... but then the show sort of just forgets about all of that and Quinn is reset back to zero. It makes for a consistency problem, I think.

But, not only the actress who plays Quinn, but the others too all seem to have a deeper sense of their characters and no matter what happens with the plot and dialogue, there is growth in their expressions and their delivery.

    That's what I think, anyway.
  6. Glee Review: "Prom Queen"

@LelaRose -- I'm not disagreeing with your comment/thought on Quinn by mentioning something else you brought up, the preview for next week ... When I saw Quinn telling Finn they need to quit Glee Club, by the look on Finn's face, I was thinking that Jessie was ruining Glee Club and everybody was miserable about it ... but Rachel wouldn't be and she's the only one who can make things happen, so nothing is happening (guessing by the preview) ... and, so found myself wondering is Quinn really going to step up and force a confrontation to reclaim Glee from Jesse??
  7. Glee Review: "Prom Queen"

I like the reviews for all the shows tvfanatic covers that I watch. It isn't a matter of agreeing or not, it's more about a style that covers a lot of things that end up generating comments which are fun to follow and put my two cents worth in too.
  8. Fox Fall Schedule: Five Shows Canceled, Two Added

I can't believe "The Finder" is getting a chance.

I personally will miss "Lie to Me" but have to admit they sure messed around a lot with the show this last year (I guess to save it) -- and I didn't like very many episodes compared to the first year.
  9. NCIS Review: Mike Franks' Swan Song

I've never liked Vance -- and they've never really explained why he's so psycho so often. How could he have his job? Wish it would have been him, but guess he'll be around another season ...
  10. Glee Review: "Prom Queen"

Faculty advisors are involved in everything. Some teacher would have seen who was elected king and queen and thrown out the winner. I only played football through 10th grade (JV) and went to different schools in 9th and 10th grades, but in one of them all of the football players got to vote for homecoming queen and the votes were tallied right there in the locker room. Somebody voted for a guy who was called "a fag," and who wasn't gay -- and the head coach flipped out, grabbed the ballot and crumpled it and yelled at all of us about being "men" and "grow up". I think that even if the faculty advisor wasn't sure if the votes for Kurt were sincere, they would have automatically and arbitrarily (I suppose) decided the queen would be female and the king would be male.

I liked the episode overall, though.

Slap scene didn't make a lot of sense, however. Quinn is being interpreted as more complex than the dialogue indicates (like, for instance, at the piano when she's telling Rachel she's leaving and Quinn and Finn are going to be married etc., she's rather cruel and cold ... but her voice breaks when she says Rachel doesn't belong here). And when she slaps Rachel, she says, "You did this to me," but how so? Quinn's plans and goals don't come to fruition so she's frustrated and angry and Rachel is always there with that damned concerned looking expression on her face when things don't work out for Quinn. Is that it?
  11. NCIS Review: Baltimore's Finest

I've never wanted any romantic relationship between Ziva and Tony. On the other hand, I've always easily accepted that they are partners in "brother Marine" or "band of brothers" or "we few" kind of way. I'm sure there are exceptions, but my impression has been that Ziva, the muscle, does what Tony, the senior field agent, tells her to do when they're in it because she trusts him and if she comes into the room with weapons out and tells him to take the person they're guarding into the bathroom, he does, because he trusts her. That doesn't mean she doesn't put him down (especially since he's usually the comic relief and everyday is get Tony day) -- but McGee will argue with the senior field agent at some very wrong times (and yet go over and fix his TV or antenna or DVR or whatever ... and even accompany him to the desert when Tony goes to rescue Ziva ... more like a friend than a combat partner).

And to me a lot of the rest is Tony being Tony and Ziva being Ziva.
  12. The Mentalist Review: "Like A Redheaded Stepchild"

I'm totally convinced Grace's boyfriend is either a bad guy or going to get killed. And I'm leaning toward bad guy. I suppose it's a little too pat to expect him to be Red John's man, but with the wedding coming and the infiltrator to be revealed, I can't imagine it's not him.
  13. Glee Review: "Rumours"

    @Sez

Thanks for taking the time. Well Said!

    @Debbie662

I never thought about Finn's mother, but she would have an opinion -- and you nailed it!
  14. Criminal Minds Review: "Out of the Light"

I thought registered sex offenders weren't allowed to work at schools -- or have underage girls come over to be photographed in summer community programs. I don't understand why at the end they let the Talbot guy go on as usual -- perving out??
  15. NCIS Review: Baltimore's Finest

I like Tony the best so liked this a lot. Also liked though how harried Gibbs was at his desk with no team -- especially considering the team he developed, starting with Tony. And it's a nice touch that he decided on Tony so quickly ... because he decided on Kate just as quickly in Episode 1, season 1.
  16. Glee Review: "Rumours"

I guess it's for the sake of drama they go back and forth with Rachel and Finn, but 1) he didn't need her on a stake out, and if she hadn't been along, he might have pulled up and said, "Hey" to Quinn and had an argument, probably, but straightened things out between them and 2) Rachel hasn't been portrayed as quite so simple minded as to be pleased by Finn's left-handed compliment about always knowing what she thinks/feels (because she talks about herself and her neediness so constantly that nothing else can enter the conversations they have). Finchel needs to end!

I love Glee and enjoyed the episode, but as long as I'm on this kick ...

Artie was a real jerk with Brittany, but I thought he was before -- when she had sex with him, more as a matter of course for her, but, as he interpreted it, to get him to duet with her ... and made it all about himself. But like what, he was saving himself for his first sex to be in a church or someplace with someone who would vow, with a penalty of eternal damnation, to love him unconditionally forever?? I love the saying about how "love creates equals." Did Arthur Miller ("Death of a Salesman") love Marilyn Monroe for being exactly who she was ... or did he love her in spite of her being so much less intelligent than him? Carl Sandberg was friends with Marilyn Monroe. Was that because her opinions on his poetry was important to him or because he enjoyed her company? Get over yourself, Artie!

And lastly, I don't like Santana manipulating Brittany so coldly and with so little regard for Brittany. I guess this is that saying, "The heart wants what the heart wants," which is usually used to explain inappropriate love and damn the consequences (like 9 year old piano prodigy Clara Wieck -- the future Clara Schumann -- and 18 year old Robert Schumann who was taking piano lessons from her father). I hope that sometime down the road, Santana starts to think enough of Brittany to stop playing her.
  17. Castle Review: "To Love and Die in L.A."

    This was a great episode!

The LA cops seemed to take Castle in stride in a way the NY cops can't, commenting about how it must be nice traveling with a best selling author. And yet the cops from both cities were cops in that kind of brotherhood, like how they got information out of the driver (and wasn't it a nice twist that the phone rang just in time to save her partners!) and the last confrontation between Beckett and Ganz.

    Fun show.
  18. The Mentalist Review: Uh-oh. Jane's in Trouble.

I thouught Lisbon threw her punch to help her cop-partner, not for any other feelings. I would think it strange if they ended up a romantic item someday. They're oil and water as people -- but that makes their working relationship so much more fun.

I agree about the plastic tub in the safe! Surprised the dog didn't bark to give LaRoche away -- but liked him holding the dog, too. Not sure if it was meant to indicate he is creepy or to give him some feelings depth (since he acts creepy to everyone).

This whole hiring someone to commit a crime made me uneasy all show. I had no clue how he could get out of it. Well done surprise!
  19. Glee Review: "Born This Way"

    @one

I didn't think what Lauren did was untypical. Do you recall that Rachel hired her to bug/spy on the Glee club to see who was and wasn't singing?
  20. Glee Review: "Born This Way"

I'm likely thinking too hard, but the flash mob or the students in the assemblies ... I've kind of figured those are fans of Glee (like weren't there an awful lot of "teachers", meaning older people, in the stands at the Tik Tok assembly[?], who through some promotion or another get to come in to be the audience or, in the mall flash mob ... I thought the scene was likely really filmed at a mall with the dance directors giving some brief direction to the mob and letting the fans go for it, and cutting the film to make it work. I'm probably wrong, but would they have really hired all those people when fans would do it for free? If anyone knows better, please correct me ....
  21. Glee Review: "Born This Way"

I hope they're consistent going forward, because they introduced some nice things -- especially Santana being a bitch with a purpose. I like what they're doing with her.

I'm always happy after an episode, although later I can think about how one episode or another compares to my favorites. I think this one will stand up pretty good. The hour and a half flew by!
  22. TV Renewal Bubble: Which Shows Will Return This Fall?

Nobody's mentioned Detroit 1-8-7 which I liked a lot. I kind of get the uneasy feeling that I'm alone out here and that doesn't add up to renewal.

I loved the idea of Lie to Me and the first season which really explored the science, etc ... but only some episodes of the second season. I hope they go for a third -- justifying it with it still on the bubble by the fact that they played around with the concept the second season and need to either keep playing around or try to recapture the first season ...
  23. Modern Family Review: Hair Rings and Harnesses

Great episode. Can't stop laughing reading the review. I really liked the hectic Dunphy's kitchen (Luke going to teach himself to juggle ...)!
  24. Glee Review: "A Night of Neglect"

This episode was Ok. I like the Rachelcentric episodes best, but it's enjoyable when the others get their moments too -- and the story was like a framework for the musical numbers, nothing special, but it worked.

I didn't think about the parents coming ... but then we've all questioned how realistic it is that the school allows so much out-in-open blatant bullying anyways that I guess a crowd of only hecklers 2 friends of Glee is part of the belief suspension (or whatever).

Look forward to next week's episode!
  25. House Review: "The Dig"

I thought this was the best episode in the last couple of years!
