If we ignore the horrible wooden acting from Alice Evans(gods why is she still getting acting jobs, especially after the trainwreck that was her role in TVD), this episode was BRILLIANT.
I am sad that Angelina died. She show managed to make an otherwise quite unlikeable character last season into a very likeable and interesting addition AND managed to make me care for her death. And that howl of Monroe's...oh gods, this is so depressing and awesome at the same time.
And that's actually nothing new - Hayley's character idea has been known since casting sides hit the net. Still absolutely NOTHING interesting about her, considering she is obviously here for the sake of getting in the way of forwood and will no doubt be just as personalityless and boring as last couple of dozen of guest stars.
let me guess: he'll have a british accents because apparently, every fucking body in history has a british accent
Hey its the the show where vikings lived in california around thousands of years in the past, having invented hair gel and shakespearean terms like "having fun". Anything is possible in this show - i would not put it past this show and its immersion-breaking anarchronistic narrative, from making entirety of europe british no reason at all.
Soon you will find out that even the native werewolves of california from viking times were also somehow british.
They did such great flashbacks in Season One....but since S2 flashbacks just became completely ridiculous, pointless and boring way to air filler episodes with nothing interesting nor good in them.
Oh that would be a change. characters have yet to die in this show before they overstay their welcome, become boring or are revived for a dozen of times.
yawn, who wants to be that the "new light on rebekah" is YET ANOTHER love story. Since with the amounts of misogyny and sexism in this show, females are not allowed to have any kinds of other plots.
(cont'd)
And Matt is not that. TVD has nothing like that, which leads to TVD characters not having any consequences for their fuck-ups, nor reacting to the events at hand. Which leads to dull and boring show with completely incomprehensible and unrelatable characters who are incapable of EXPERIENCING the events they participate in, nor reacting to them.
Now, according to Zach in this interview, Matt's the moral compass because he does what he thinks is right. As in, what his heart tells him to do. Which is to protect Elena. You figure something witty to say, I'm stunned
by this idea, EVERYONE is moral compass, even the rapist serial killer Damon, because he ALSO does what he thinks is right.
That's the thing with morality for most of the time character morality is depending on point of view - most of those doing wrong have a perfectly valid reason to justify it as right. Which is why storylines usually have someone who is impartial to situation, not clouded by the emotions and has correct values and experience in life to judge. Character does not need to be flawless, is allowed to make mistakes, but the common factor is that the Moral Compass does not act upon what he is thinking is right - he is acting upon what COMMON MAJORITY Of audience and society thinks is right.

I also keep wondering who Henry's dad is, and if he has any connection to the tale.
Its pretty much a common guess now that Rumple's son is Henry's father as Emma described him as "dangerous" older man and "bad business".
I was also kind of flummoxed by the addition of the "dementors" doing their soul-sucking thing right out of Harry Potter...a
Potter invented only a few things. A lot of creatures in it is based upon european folk lore and scare stories. Dementors are just Potterverse's version of wraiths from the european folklore (spectral like floating ghosts in rags who steal souls and signify death and disease, etc)
what was up with the dementors?even the soul sucking part looked the same as harry potter!
Dementors are based upon the same type of mythological ghost creature from european folklore as the guys in this episode. The general look is same through the majority of stories that have them.
the similarities also highlight that its a multiversal creature existing in many lands, that goes by many names in others universes.
I would have wanted regina dead too, and I agree with the reviewer, henry is reginas achilles heel and I think he will be the one to bring her down in the end.
I thoroughly disagree, because I do not think Regina will be "brought down" she will be redeemed adn yes Henry IS the path to redemption for her, just like Belle is for Gold.
The postcard message is the key to who was the man in the opening sequence. Who would consider Storybrooke to be "broken" as opposed to "fixed?"
I think the "broken" parts means that Curse has been broken and the character supposedly could enter storybrooke now.
3) Fairyland scenes are no longer flashbacks. They are concurrent in time w/Storybrooke, which is a nice change.
Actually no they are not.
In this episode, Storybrooke part of the story was a giant flashback that happens before the wake-up of Aurora. In the upcoming episodes we will have THREE kinds of scenes - Storybrooke present, FTL flashback and FTL present.
What "moral compass"? This show does not have any. By now, the only possible explanation for them ignoring half the stuff they should have reacted to and NOT even getting any consequences for their actions, is that 99% of the cast are sociopaths,
I am guessing that the man at the start was March Hare/White Rabbit of wonderland. Makes sense and I doubt they would just throw baelfire or Henry's father at us like that.
SO I guess now in the show we will have THREE different settings instead of two(FTL and Storybrooke)...
Also my heart breaks for Regina.....the girl's more confused and conflicted than even Rumple is now...
PERFECT episode:
Can't wait for Regina's redemption. Its such a fascinating and great concept and I have no doubts taht she will do everything to get her son back, now. She chose him over the curse after all.
Snow and MM in FTL? OH HELL TO THE YES
While casting is decent(P.Tonkin was the only good thing about TSC, although I pretty much hoped she would get on to a show that is well....respectable and decent, instead of tvd), I do not have any hopes of her character on TVD doing anything decent.
She is clearly created to be purely an obstacle for forwood and with the ridiculous amounts of sexism and misogyny in this show, I do not expect her to amount to anything beyond that, not that I care.
But my problem with it is people refuse to accept that it was Elena's decision to make....not Stefan's decision to force her to make.
Actually no. It was writers decision and a shitty one.
Any sensible person would just have made Steffie do the logical thing - rip off the seatbelts, for example. But no, this is TVD, everyone has to do the MOST irrational, illogical and lame decisions for the plot to advance.
What did I tell? The show WILL find a way to make ELena's death all about the angst of love of salvatore bros completely ignoring any possibilities to develop her character or make her react, YET AGAIN.
, how is any of it supposed to be believable? It is a super natural show.
Just because the show is in supernatural genre, it does not suddenly allow the show and the narrative to ignore the very basic writing guidelines of HUMAN relatable characters. These people are not some alien or fairy race with different culture and morals. They are humans, they exist in "real world", but with supernatural elements. Thus the "real world" part HAS to be believable and make sense.
Elena display barely to no reaction to, well, EVERYTHING and does not have a defined narrative that would develop her personality and allow her to grow as character through episodes. There's nothing, just yet another Bella Swan. And that makes it nigh to impossible to relate to ANYTHING she goes through, because she does not even "go through" anything. She just stands in the scene(or in this case lies)
oh look, more obligatory "to die characters that hog the screen time only to get killed for SHOCKING moment", that TVD is known for... meh.
Just end the whole hybrid storyline already. The whole Klaus storyline is one huge disjointed trainwreck by now. But then again, everything in the show is that too.
