Wow. This is some great info! I'm looking forward to the Chuck-Nate storyline (was wondering how this whole triangle would affect their friendship again!) and I'm also REALLY wanting to know what happened between Jack and Blair. I'm guessing that will be one of the cliffhangers in the season finale. Finally, I'm enjoying the ride, but still looking forward to seeing Chuck and Blair together FOR REAL! And I agree w/ Stephanie... there is so much the writers can do to make their storyline as a couple not boring!
A few more comments:
1. HATE the music this season. It's completely terrible. The music during Season 1 was more fun and current and added depth to the stories. They were mostly popular songs from the time, not obscure stuff hardly anyone knows. PLEASE bring back the quality music.
2. Chuck's hair is awful. I hate the comb-over. He was much more attractive last season. Get Ed to cut his hair!
3. More storylines involving all the characters and not random storylines affecting only 1 or 2. The only episodes I've been crazy about this season were "Summer Kind of Wonderful", "Realm of the Basses" and "The Grandfather". Common denominator in all three of those is that all the characters were interacting with one another and there were not a lot of guest stars trying to carrying major storylines.
4. And yes, the show must be young and fresh. We don't want to know what is coming. We can be given some spoilers as hints, but don't give out blatant spoilers or recaps. I don't care how much people beg for them, clearly, people won't watch if they know where a storyline is going.
1. Serena's "wild side". I think we will see bits of it in the next episodes (with her getting arrested and all), but I hope it's a deeper exploration of her past. In "The Serena Also Rises" it looked like she was going back to her bad girl ways, only to leave us disappointed when she went right back to the new (or old?) Serena. And I want to know what happened in Santorini already!
2. Nate needs to have a better storyline. Even his supposed "big" storylines (involving his father) turned out dull. Maybe working in the mayor's office and being reunited with the Vanderbilts will make him more cut-throat? We can only hope.
3. Three words: Non-judging breakfast club.
4. As far as couples, I want things to be mixed up. I want to see Chuck/Blair in a real relationship and challenge the writers to keep it interesting. I want Dan and Serena to work on being friends and adjust to possibly being stepbrother and sister. I think that could add a lot of funny moments. I'd also like to see Serena and Nate! Nate was pining for Serena for so long... what happened?
I thought the Grandfather was great - classic GG style.
With that being said, ratings for it were the lowest of the season and to be honest, I'm not surprised. To come back off a six-week break with "Age of Dissonance" was a mistake. The play (which could have been hilarious) fell flat, and the Nanny and Rachel Carr storylines were infuriating to most fans. I know they were supposed to have brought Blair and Chuck to these realizations about themselves, but instead of being serious wake-up calls, they came across as shallow storylines. Although I'm sad about the ratings drop, I'm not surprised that some GG fans who were on the fence decided to sit this week out after the last episode. I have even noticed many former forum regulars on GGInsider go away.
The six week break was too long to come back with anything short of amazing. It would have been better to have ended w/ Age of Dissonance and then had a five week break before the Grandfather.
Also, I think we need to keep in mind when ratings are tabulated, they are not including online viewership. "The Grandfather" is still the #1 downloaded show on ITunes today. I think that shows the interest in the show is still there, but some of the recent episodes have been disappointing.
