  1. Gossip Girl Review: Return of the Scheme Team

@Rogue I'm hoping we don't have to read anymore "Dan and Blair have the perfect relationship" posts because it's so clearly untrue. They've had problems in every single episode so far- bad sex, trust issues (dowry), that disaster of a party, Blair scheming to hijack his speech, and now more trust issues. They actually haven't had a single episode where their relationship was solid.
  2. Gossip Girl Round Table: "Raiders of the Lost Art"

Funny that Rome's back on the table next episode, huh? Given that spoiler sources talked about Dan making this "big career sacrifice" for Blair. Of course, it was pretty obvious even from this episode that "sacrifice" was not quite the right word...
  3. Gossip Girl Round Table: "Raiders of the Lost Art"

    5. Blair definitely got her swagger back this episode, and I don't think it's a coincidence that finally spending time with Chuck, Nate and Serena appeared to be the catalyst. She's been so isolated with Dan for the duration of their relationship. And I agree that she's not *not* herself with Dan, she's just this... muted, boring version of herself. She just had this extra spark in her scenes with Chuck and Nate, and I don't know if that's just chemistry between the actors, or intentional writing/directing, but it was very noticeable.

    6. I can't help but feel bad for Serena. She seems so depressed, it's like she's taking over Chuck's role as the always-sad person on this show. Just give her a glass of Scotch and a dog already. And based on the sneak peak for next episode, Blair will just make it worse by rubbing Dan in her face some more. I'm actually ready for Serena to explode all over her one of these days, because she's clearly not okay with this whole situation.

    7. Obviously. Not just because I want him to leave, haha, but because giving up such an amazing opportunity for a (doomed) two month relationship with a girl you clearly don't trust... just not a smart move.
  4. Gossip Girl Round Table: "Raiders of the Lost Art"

    2. The best quotes from the episode, IMO, were Chuck's "she likes to watch" and Blair's "he HAS a friend". Scheming is totally like foreplay for those two. Oh, and Lola's concise description of Nate's schedule: "gym, gym, trim bangs, gym."

    3. I wasn't shocked about Bart at all, since it was spoiled all over the internet. I'm definitely interested in seeing the subsequent Chuck/Bart conversation, as well as how Lily and Rufus deal with this. I don't think in reality you're still legally married to someone who's been declared dead, but this is GG and reality isn't their strong suit, so... but yeah, I think how Chuck handles this situation will really be a testament to how much he's matured.

    4. Blair, which was kind of surprising given how clueless she's seemed lately. And the diary mention certainly sounded like foreshadowing, yes?
  5. Gossip Girl Round Table: "Raiders of the Lost Art"

    @Xoxodanielle

I think it's unlikely Dan will be known at all, haha.

Agreed that this was the best episode of the season. Finally felt like vintage GG again (and the writer, Jake Coburn, is definitely on my list of who I'd like to take over next season, if they can't lure Josh 1.0 or Stephanie back!)
  6. Gossip Girl Review: Return of the Scheme Team

I don't think we ever really saw Bart's body- that was in Chuck's imagination, when he and Blair walked by the hospital room and they covered him with the sheet. That was after he admitted he'd run away before Bart died.
  7. Gossip Girl Review: Return of the Scheme Team

Ugh, it's really annoying how this cuts off your comments.

"The one-time Queen B has been a shell of herself months, though, and is a much different creature when she has her swagger. She clearly has that, as well as chemistry, with Chuck. But can he give her lasting happiness?"

This, I agree with completely. It's been depressing watching Blair turn into this whiny, mopey, self-absorbed brat she's been for most of S5, so it's about time she got some of her mojo back. In terms of lasting happiness, I think the entire point of Chuck's storyline this season is to show how much he's grown, that he's become the man she always wanted him to be. So I have no doubt that he can make her happy long-term.

What I doubt at this point, actually, is whether Blair can make him happy. She's treated him abhorrently this season, and that can't just be erased in two episodes. Of course, if Chuck can just let it go, maybe we're supposed to as well?
  8. Gossip Girl Review: Return of the Scheme Team

"Whether the Blair we saw tonight can be involved romantically with Dan for the long haul is an open question. He's been there for her all year when no one else has, and no one can take that away from him."

I take a little exception to this, actually. Not the part about Dan being there for her (of course he has, although I would argue that it hasn't done her nearly as much good as he seems to think), but the suggestion that no one else has. Other people weren't there because Blair pushed them away, not because they weren't just as loving and supportive as Dan. And I think it became quite obvious tonight why Blair's been pushing Chuck away- because the second they come into proximity again, the sparks start to fly.

"The one-time Queen B has been a shell of herself months, though, and is a much different creature when she has her swagger. She clearly has that, as well as chemistry, with Chuck. But can he give her lasting happiness?"

This, I agree with completely. It's been depressing as hell watching Blair turn into this whiny, mopey, self-absorbed brat we've been seeing most of the season, so it was wonderful for her to regain some of her old mojo here. In terms of lasting happiness, I'd like to think that Chuck's shown over the course of this season that he's finally grown up and become the man she always wanted him to be, so there's no doubt in my mind they could be happy together.

So the question in my mind, at this point, is actually whether she's capable of making Chuck happy. She's treated him abhorrently for most of the season, and you can't just erase that in a couple of episodes. Although, I guess if Chuck doesn't care, maybe we're supposed to just let it slide?
  9. Who Should Run Gossip Girl Next Season?

    My vote is for me.

As long as I get full benefits and a corner office.

But barring that, I think Josh Schwartz and/or Stephanie Savage should be in charge. And if they're too busy, Sarah Goodman or Jake Coburn would probably do a decent job. It's not like anyone can be much worse than Safran, right?

(I'm totally going to regret saying that, sigh)
  10. Gossip Girl Season Finale Spoilers: Return of the ...

Good lord, this fandom makes me weep for the future.

I seriously hope some of you are just saying what you wish would happen, and not what you actually think will happen based on your logical reasoning abilities.
  11. Gossip Girl Season Finale Spoilers: Return of the ...

    (cut off)
Blair choosing herself wouldn't end the triangle, it would just drag it out further. I don't really see any way for this to end except her choosing Chuck. I mean, one of the spoilers from the 5x24 call sheets is that Chuck tells her that he's done waiting for her (somewhere in the middle of the episode)- so if she doesn't choose him, they're over. And we all know Chuck and Blair are never over :)
  12. Gossip Girl Season Finale Spoilers: Return of the ...

@Zoran, sorry, I wasn't clear on your reasoning before.

I still don't think Dan will propose (like someone else said, those were cufflinks Rufus was talking about, not a ring). But I agree with you that I don't think Chuck will either. I think he might just give the ring back to Blair because it's hers, and he wants her to have it even though they're not together. And then Blair will show up to find him at the end, and she'll be wearing it. Or she'll give it back to him and say "when you ask me again, I'll say yes." That would be a nice way for the "say yes" to come back, and we'd still get to see a real proposal later. Also a nice parallel to when she returned it in 4x02.

I do think Blair has to take the initiative, Chuck obviously has no reason to believe she would accept a proposal right now.

But in terms of Blair choosing "alone"? I don't think that's a real possibility, because Safran has explicitly said the triangle will come to and end in the finale. Blair choosing herself doesn't end the triangle, it just drags it out further. The synopsis also says Blair will choose between them by the end of the episode. I just don't see it ending any other way but her choosing Chuck.
  13. Gossip Girl Season Finale Spoilers: Return of the ...

    @Zoran

Actually, there are spoilers from a fairly credible source who was on the set that Chuck's ring will reappear in the finale, so... yeah, it obviously has to do with Chuck. As far as Dan proposing to Blair, that's so far-fetched it's laughable. They've been together what, two months? She hasn't even said she loves him. Dan proposing would be a suicide mission (which actually might be kind of funny to watch, haha)

Anyway, I can't imagine the ring coming back just so Chuck can let her go for the billionth time or Blair can reject him again. There's really only one reason for it to make an appearance.
  14. Gossip Girl Season Finale Spoilers: Return of the ...

For those of you upset by the fact that "Chuck and Blair are never over", I have some more bad news for you.

Dan and Serena aren't over either.

You know how you guys kept saying there was no way they'd keep Dan's feelings for Blair going this long with no payout? Yeah... so that logic applies to Serena too (and to Chuck). Safran said her feelings for Dan haven't gone away, so what does that tell you?

DB had their time, and it's nearing its conclusion. I'm glad some people enjoyed it, even though I very much did not. Personally, if I were you guys, I would just be thankful that they're probably going to get a relatively pleasant, angst-free breakup instead of the epic disasters they reserve for endgame couples. I'm sure Dan and Blair will be back to being platonic BFFs in no time, and there'll be plenty of sexless hugs and pretentious banter to sustain you through S6.
  15. Gossip Girl Spoiler: What's the Latest Obstacle For Dair?

I still don't get why being boring and passionless isn't enough of an obstacle... but I guess the only way to make their relationship seem even remotely interesting is to throw a bunch of stuff in their way. (Bad sex! Sad about not being a princess! Couple-defining party is a big fat failure! Losing social status! etc, etc.)

I think Dan will initially turn down the fellowship to stay with Blair, not as some enormous sacrifice on his part, but because he's insecure about their relationship and doesn't really trust her- especially now that she's started to hang out with Chuck again. She'll find out, convince him to take it, probably agree to go with him...

Then Dan will end up spending the summer in Rome alone. Sad for him, I guess, but I'd like to think of it as karma.
  16. Gossip Girl Exclusive: Joshua Safran on Major Season Finale Cliffhanger, Evolution of Dair

Also, if "helping Blair rediscover Blair in a very sweet, good way" means putting a tiara on her head and parading her around in public in a princess costume, I will laugh until I cry.
  17. Gossip Girl Exclusive: Joshua Safran on Major Season Finale Cliffhanger, Evolution of Dair

It was pretty obvious they were pushing for Dair since last season- but it hasn't made it any less painful to sit through. Why bother with all the Chuck/Blair in 4x06-4x13 if the plan was just to throw her with Dan afterwards? I guess it was to remind us that they're not over, but all it really did was hurt Blair's character. They could've put her with Dan last season when Chuck and Serena were off doing their own thing, and it wouldn't have been nearly as bad- but now they both just look like dicks. Not that I expect Safran to realize that, because they're pretty clearly his pet characters... but acting totally self-absorbed and insensitive to everyone else's feelings, and never facing any consequences for their mistakes, isn't the way to endear characters to your audience.

Anyway, the sooner Dair/this whole triangle is over and done with, the better. I'd love to be able to actually watch S6 and enjoy it, and I can't tolerate watching those two in a relationship, it just sucks all the enjoyment out of the show.
  18. Spotted on the Set of Gossip Girl ...

Just in time for the last 2-3 episodes- the writers are nothing if not consistent. Maybe this season will still end on a high note after all...
  19. Gossip Girl to Be Renewed For Shortened Season 6?

Honestly, GG doesn't even deserve a half-season renewal, given how embarrassingly bad the ratings are. The only reason for even another 13 episodes is so they can do Chuck and Blair's reunion some real justice, instead of just throwing them together in the last 5 min of the finale. They also have a hell of a lot of work to do patching up Blair/Serena and Dan/Serena (on a friendship level at least, I don't even really want them back together after how he's treated her).
  20. Gossip Girl Chair Tribute Video Contest Finalists: Watch, Vote Now!

These were all gorgeous- thanks so much for making these videos, everyone! The show's turned into such a mess, it's nice to be able to remember what was once so amazing about it :) I can't even fathom how someone can look back over almost 5 years of passion and intensity between these two and even doubt that either of them could end up with anyone else. It would just be an utter disappointment if they had to settle like that.
  21. Gossip Girl Chair Video Contest Winner: Revealed!

Gorgeous. No surprise it won, all of her videos are amazing.

Why anyone is here bashing Chair, I have no idea (besides the obvious, a raging inferiority complex). I wouldn't waste even a second of my life watching a Dair video.
  22. Gossip Girl Round Table: "Crazy Cupid Love"

And while I'm done with Chair for now (I'm sorry, I think Chuck deserves better than someone who tells him in one episode that she "loves him more and more every day" and then two episodes later is kissing another guy IN HIS ROOM), I'm done with Derena for good. I don't think Dan can ever come back from how horribly he's treated Serena. So maybe Blair and Dan do belong together, since they both bring out the worst in each other. At least that'll keep them away from the characters I still like.
  23. Gossip Girl Round Table: "Crazy Cupid Love"

Wow, people really think this is an example of Blair being mature and true to character? Stabbing her best friend in the back by kissing the guy she loves in her own ex-boyfriend's bedroom? The old Blair was a loyal friend to Serena, and would never have hurt Chuck in such a selfish and awful way.

Blair used to be my favorite character, and after this... I honestly think she deserves to end up alone, at least this season. So I gotta disagree with Courtney, I don't see anything left to love about B. She's basically turned into Serena, flighty and stupid and torn between all the men in her life. If Chuck and Serena have any sense, they'll both tell her to go F herself.
  24. Gossip Girl Review: Backup Dan the Man

Yeah, none of that actually contradicts anything I said about Dan though...
  25. Gossip Girl Review: Backup Dan the Man

    @dover

I dunno, when you really think about it, Dan has had this tendency for awhile. He was very dismissive of Vanessa in S1 in favor of Serena ("you told me you loved me", "love...d"), then kind of crapped on Serena in favor of Amanda/Ms. Carr/whoever in S2, cheated on Vanessa with Serena in S3 and then treated Vanessa like crap some more in S4, and now he's acting like he never even loved Serena. So even though he has this "nice guy" image, he has a bad habit of being kind of awful towards his exes.

So yeah, for the sake of Blair and Dan's friendship, it's probably best if they don't ever date, because it would inevitably end the same way. I'd actually love it if Blair were the one to point this out to him, on Serena's behalf.
