Carissa - I think we have to remember what Brody went through though. He was a POW, beaten and tortured for 5 years before he met Isa. Isa was the first person who showed him love and compassion. And it seemed that Isa needed someone like Brody in his life as well. I think it makes sense that Isa's death would help turn Brody. I think Brody had been so brainwashed for years already, that when Isa died it was like the icing on the cake. The one person that he really had a connection with this whole time during his isolation, had just been killed by Brody's own people.
Bryan - I wondered the same thing about how Travis could have possibly kidnapped and killed the athiest within the 2 minutes that Dexter was stuck in the elevator. But I think what probably happened is that Travis grabbed the athiest even before him and Dexter went to the school. Dexter left Travis alone for hours in that hotel room, so I think Travis did all his killings when Dexter would leave him in the hotel. Very disappointing season. I wasn't 100% convinced that Gellar was imaginary until last night's episode when they made it blatantly obvious when Dexter and Travis were waiting in the car and Dexter happened to close his eyes and rest his head back right as Travis saw Gellar walk by. After that, I thought, 'you've got to be kidding me'. There's just no way that they had Dexter do that as a coincidence. That was the tipping point for me when I realized that everyone who had predicted Gellar was imaginary were correct. I think I was in denial this whole time about it because I never thought the writers would follow through with something that they were making so obvious from the start. Lets hope next season is better!!
I couldn't agree more with this review. It seems that FINALLY things are starting to pick up, although I'm not sure with 4 or 5 episodes left that it could save the season. This season is just completely weird to me. Tyler - that's a great observation! I definitely missed that and naturally assumed LaGuerta was talking to the Deputy Chief, but Quinn makes a lot of sense! Hopefully since Dexter has been picked up for 2 more seasons, they will have time to redeem themselves from this one! Dexter used to be my favorite show on tv, but now when Sunday comes around every week I can't wait to watch Homeland which is on right after Dexter! Haha! Has anyone been watching that? Incredible!
This episode blew me away! This is by far my favorite show on television right now. The writing is fantastic! I wonder if Brody was being used by the terrorists to climb up the policital ladder so the terrorists would have somebody on the inside. Or at least that's what they told him, when they were really using him as a decoy for Tom Walker. Then again, maybe Brody was being used as a sleeper cell and was just waiting for instructions, meanwhile Tom Walker was their main guy. All I know is that every time I think I've got it figured out, this show throws me such a curve ball! I can't wait until next Sunday!!
@Tommy Shelton -- OOOHHH! I must have mis-heard! Thanks for clearing that up, it's been driving me nuts! hahaha!
@Carda - Remember, the very last episode of season 5 when Dexter found out Lumen was kidnapped? He was in his apartment rushing around and just as he was running out the door, he opened the door and the grandparents and Astor & Cody were there for a surprise visit. The kids said they had something to ask him and Dexter said to the grandparents that he was in a rush, and "could it wait?" The grandparents insisted that they needed to talk to him and then the kids said that they wanted to move back in with him. Dexter said he would "love it" if they moved back in with him!
Oh, and on a complete side note - what ever happened to Astor and Cody? At the end of season 5 Dexter agreed to let them move back in with him. And we haven't seen them once this season. The only mention they've ever gotten was when Harrison was in the hospital and Deb asked Dexter if they should call Astor & Cody to let them know. Lots of sloppy writing these past 2 seasons.
This is the worst season of all time. No action, no cliffhangers, no twists. Just when I thought it was getting good and this season was finally going to turn for the better, nothing happened. Last night's episode was good compared to the rest of this season. But I really wanted to see Dexter spiral out of control for a little while longer. I was so bummed at the end of the episode when he goes back to his normal self. What a bore. Give me SOMETHING! And I really love Dexter! Before this season, it was the best show of all time in my opinion. What happened?? I really want this season to turn around, I really do. But after last night's episode, I've kind of lost hope. :(
