I thought this episode was okay. What I didn't like about it was that the entire episode felt like a montage. Everyone was getting their happy endings etc and I get that the reason for that was probably because they assumed this could've been their series finale but it still lacked dramatic conversations. There were hardly any substantial conversations between characters. I'm glad they have season nine to do better and they can go out with a better series finale.
Btw, did Brooke name one of her sons Davis? What's up with these characters naming their children after their last names like Peyton did with Sawyer? Just a thought.
The idea of bringing back Ethan for Silver is getting me excited! And consequently disappointed because I know it won't happen. I'll never understand why they chose to let go of this character when they could've done so much with the Silver-Ethan relationship. I'd probably prefer that over the one we're seeing now.
@Valentina I think part of the reason why Addison is not shown supporting Amelia is because this isn't really something that she understands. They probably highlight Amelia's relationship with Charlotte because they experience the same things as recovering addicts. Addison values her relationship with Amelia but this is just not an aspect of her life that she can understand as much as Charlotte can.
As for all those offended by abortion, I understand where you're coming from cause I'm a Catholic who's strongly against it. But I think we just need to be a understanding of what the writers did here. It wasn't about pushing a political agenda or proving that partial abortion is right. I think what they wanted to show here is that there are a lack of abortion clinics in America despite it being legalized. The show is not out to prove this right but to inform. It's understandable why others would boycott this show because they found that storyline offensive but I hope you don't. Private Practice is a very informative show and that's what sets it apart from others.
@Aries93 Exactly! Getting a role in a good movie is hard. We saw Mischa Barton try going that road and look where she ended up. It would be a mistake to let a role in a show like this go because at least this way, she has a constant job. She's lucky to be on a show like this to begin with. And it's true that she can always cut back on her workload if her other projects overlap during her hiatus and when they need to return on the show. We saw that Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen did something similar so it's not impossible. I'd hate it if Annalynne McCord left cause she's been great on the show. I love Mischa Barton but we all saw how bad the results of that decision were. Don't want the same thing to happen to Annalynne.
I think it'll be interesting to see that. I feel like something Aria will be struggling with is the pressure to be with someone more age appropriate. Now that she's coming out on her relationship with Ezra, it's possible that her peers (or more likely her parents) will not be a fan of the relationship. So that kind of pressure could push her to be being with someone else.
I admire Shonda Rhimes' creativity but I'm not sure if I'll get into this. I love Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy although I'm not sure how this will really be. I'll watch the Pilot just because I believe in Shonda though.
Taking out more characters, seriously?! I have to agree with everything @Aries93 said because this show has had a horrible track record with its casting.
And as for Annalynne McCord, it would be the biggest mistake of her career to let 90210 go. She's practically the center of the show. To me, this season made her the show. I'm all for people experiencing different things such as movies and the like but that's what their hiatus is for. Be smart.
Everyone on this show just needs to start thinking more long term. Seriously.
Seems like there's a lot happening to the practice as a whole and to all the characters! It's gonna be an intense finale.
For Charlotte, I am so excited to see her go through this because I'm sure it's going to be great. Those few minutes alone already gave me goosebumps because it's like I can feel Charlotte's pain. I'm sure she's going to come out of this even stronger.
And for Addie and Conor.. I love their chemistry! Please let him be the one for Addie already!!
Barney and Robin!! Really liked this episode. The exchange in the car was great and I have high hopes that Barney's bride will be Robin. I have to believe that Nora's just the stepping stone.
As for Lily getting pregnant, I'm happy for them. I'm pretty sure it's a boy too based on the episode of them smoking and when Marshall stopped.
Video 1 - Okay so now we know the premise of the episode and it seems like it's going to be pretty intense. Something similar to the ferryboat accident but not quite to that extent. I wonder though if there'll be anything coming out from Mark and Jackson working together. Hoping there'll be some Mark and Lexie developments coming from that that.
Video 2 - And here we see Meredith facing the repercussions of what she did. It'll be interesting to see how all this plays out and if the Chief will be as angry with her if he finds out it was for Adele.
Video 3 - Sweet moment between Bailey and Eli. I love seeing Bailey in her emotional and vulnerable moments and it's sweet of Eli to be there for her that way.
Video 4 - Obviously Derek and Meredith aren't in a good place when this scene happens. It seems like they aren't very prepared for taking Zola home and for me, I'd think that despite their situation with the trial they'd want to be together for something like this. Guess we'll have to see how this whole thing plays out.
Video 5 - Teddy and Henry please!! I really love the chemistry they have together and I think it's just coming from a very sweet and honest place. I've really liked seeing how they've grown to be more than just insurance-husband-and-wife because you see there's a connection there. Hopefully she doesn't go to Germany!
Video 6 - Oh Cristina. I think this is going to be so intense because we know that this is something that Owen is very much open about and the opposite goes for Cristina. If her struggle is on whether or not to keep her relationship and child as to her career, I don't know what would happen. She loves Owen but we've known from day one how much she values her career. This'll be interesting to watch.
First off, with the Betsey story, I thought every aspect of it was done perfectly. Her first lines about both her parents dying in the hospital just broke my heart right there. It was great to see every member of the practice care about her and see them struggle through the regret of the decision that they made earlier in the season. I liked how Cooper felt the need to do something once he thought Betsey was in trouble and although he acted on compulsion, we saw him find a balance when he agreed to letting the social worker come back. I really liked how Betsey was initially not interested in speaking with Violet because that carries so much weight to the over-all story of Betsey. There was a sense of abandonment there and it was something she had the right to be upset about. I didn’t really like Violet’s attitude throughout the entire episode in the sense that she blamed others, such as Pete and Naomi, for the situation Betsey was in when what she was upset about was Violet’s lack of communication after she was put in the system. Violet made her own choice in episode four so she doesn’t get to place blame on the others. I appreciate though how she realized this in the end of episode when she apologized and made her promises to Betsey. As for Naomi being the one to take in Betsey, I think it fits perfectly with the development of the story as well as the exit of Audra McDonald. Since earlier episodes she was the one that made a relationship with Betsey and she was the only one that wasn’t there when the need to take Betsey in was happening. In the end it’s good to know that even if we may not see Betsey again in the near future, we know that she’s in a good place and there’s a good reason for not seeing her.
As for the storyline of Addison, Naomi, and Patty, no matter what, abortion will always be a sticky subject to tackle. A lot of opinions were said throughout the episode and although it might upset viewers, Private Practice did something like this in order to really educate people. This is what they want to do anyway. They have tackled a lot of moral issues and an abortion like this is something they haven’t. They’re not trying to push any form of political agenda but rather keep people informed while consequently respecting the opinions of both sides of the issue. I really liked the way this story was handled although I don’t agree with what Naomi did. As a doctor, it was not her right to persuade a patient out of doing something because it’s just up to them to inform. It was good to see the vulnerability of Addison through a topic like this one because it connects strongly to her desire to have a child. And in the end, I like how this brought Addison and Naomi back together.
Thank God Amelia has a storyline! I loved the friendship that we saw between Charlotte and Amelia this week. It was good last week but it was even better this time around. That hug that Charlotte gave her towards the end of the episode – that just speaks volumes. I like the genuine care that they have for one another because they know what the other is feeling. I think that it’s good for the show to tackle something like this because there are a lot of recovering addicts out there. It’ll be good to show that even such successful individuals can find themselves vulnerable to it but what they need to do is resist the urge to back to that place. But when they’re not able to, I think that’s something that we’ll see as Amelia continues her journey and struggle with sobriety.
Obviously there are repercussions for what Meredith did in her relationship with Derek but I'm hoping he's not going to leave her. The room that she enters with Zola isn't the room she shares with Derek so we can't assume right away that he left.
As for Cristina getting pregnant.. WOAH. I didn't expect that at all. I thought her and Owen would find about the possibility of having children; not whether or not they should keep a baby they already made or something like that.
Seems like it's going to be a very emotionally intense episode as promised!
The room that Meredith walks into is definitely not the one she shares with Derek. I'm pretty sure it's the one of Alex so that could be a preview of something that will also go down with him. He has an important story in this because they did say the finale would revolve around the originals.
Really, really liked this episode! I thought everything about it was right. And I'm not sure if I'm saying that just because it didn't revolve around Calzona.
A few things that I just want to mention:
1. I agree with Owen. Cristina wouldn't make a good Chief Resident because she's a surgeon; the type of surgeon that acts on what she wants. It was seen in this episode how she doesn't really recognize the importance of rules or protocols and as Chief Resident it would be her job to enforce those things. So it is logical that it wouldn't be her and she should just focus on being a great surgeon.
2. At this point, I'm pretty sure Chief Resident will be Alex. I refuse to believe that the writers would choose someone that isn't an original and seeing as how Meredith compromised the trial, it makes the most sense to give it to Alex. And all this time, I honestly think that he has shown the most potential.
3. Meredith getting nervous for her "mommy-interview" was an entertaining and cute addition to this episode. I think it showed a lot about who she wants to be as a mother and I think that's good since we haven't really seen that this season. We've just seen her wanting to be a mother but not really what kind she aims to be, etc.
4.Mark and Lexie please!! I have faith that this is their beginning to being with one another again. I mean it's obvious that Mark is still in love with Lexie and knows that she's the only thing really missing from his life. And on Lexie's side, she knows that she still has feelings for him. Just please, please let these two get back together already.
5. Teddy and Henry please!!" I've really grown to liking these two because they do have chemistry. I liked her with Andrew in the beginning of the season but it's nothing compared to what she has with Henry now. I just hope she sees that and eventually chooses to stay in Seattle with Henry. And btw, the conversation with Henry and the Chief? Loved it!
I'm excited to see how this finale plays out because of the choices they have to make with regards to the practice. Are they going to choose to save what the practice is or choose to save each other?
As for Charlotte, I'm looking forward to seeing how she'll deal with something like this because it does hit very close to home. And this case further shows how what happened to her will always be with her and it's something that affects both her personal and professional life. I think she also has a lot to deal with because of Amelia since it looks like she let herself fall back into old habits.
Looking forward to getting to know Benjamin Bratt's character, or Connor to be exact, cause I'm hoping he'll be the real deal for Addison!
They've also been teasing a lot about watching out for the last 30 seconds of the episode so I'm looking forward to that. I hope it's really something big that will leave all the characters in an unknown situation for us to look forward to in season five. If it's something like Addison getting pregnant, I'd be pissed. Not because I don't want that for her but because all this hype about a major shocker really has to be shocking!
Personally, I hope that Benjamin Bratt's character "Connor" is it for Addison. I want her to be with someone that doesn't have as messy of a history as Sam. She deserves to finally be happy so I'm really hoping that it'll be with him.
And I just have to say, I find it so annoying how AJ Michalka is part of this show now. Is it possible for these two to ever have separate projects? I get that they're sisters but it doesn't mean they have to play sisters in every project that they do.
As seemingly rushed this storyline is, I have to say I like it because it shows a lot to Ivy's character. It seems like the finale is going to end the season on a high note but I hope there'll be something there for all of us to look forward to for the next season.
Repercussions are expected from what Meredith did. It was for the good of Adele but Alex basically spelled it out. It's not just about her, it's about consequences that the hospital's reputation will face. And aside from that, I won't be shocked if there are repercussions within Meredith and Derek's relationship.
As for Cristina and Owen, I've just been waiting for them to have a fallout. Simply because their wedding itself was rushed and we've seen in previous episode how there are some things in life that they want differently. It'll be nice to see how they deal with these things and work towards being a more unified couple.
For Teddy, I really hope she picks Henry. I just enjoyed the chemistry that we've seen with them in recent episodes.
At least Chuck knows there'll be repercussions for the Raina knowing and confronting Russell about it. I'm sure he'll eventually piece it together but I hope it'll be in time to save Blair from any form of harm. Still rooting for Chair!
