Dan somehow breaking the laws of space and time and being Gossip Girl for SIX YEARS. Read more tv spoilers at: http://www.tvfanatic.com/forum/gossip-girl/general-discussion/chuck-and-blair-20/page-25289.html#ixzz2FQyMKfqs
And with that Dan finally did become Bart Bass (i.e. the only other character that bent the rules of time).
CONGRATS, GG. you have made EVERY RELATIONSHIP EVER DISPLAYED ON YOUR SHOW ABUSIVE/UNHEALTHY AT SOME POINT!Read more tv spoilers at: http://www.tvfanatic.com/forum/gossip-girl/general-discussion/chuck-and-blair-20/page-25289.html#ixzz2FQxiv3m0
While I may not go that far, it does seem like the nice guys end up alone (i.e. Rufus and Nate), while the manipulative one's (Chuck, Dan and William) get the girl.
DS was so effing weird and messed up. Why was Serena like thrilled that he was GG? that was just...Read more tv spoilers at: http://www.tvfanatic.com/forum/gossip-girl/general-discussion/chuck-and-blair-20/page-25289.html#ixzz2FQwyyj2a
Because apparently Dan was right. Serena is a golden shell. Show her some love and she is yours.
I still find the Dan as Gossip Girl reveal profoundly unsatisfying. I guess the only possible way I can understand it is if I assume that Dan is lying about some of the stuff. For example I simply can not accept that jenny knew all along. It is just impossible. There is far too much that will have to be explained away for that. Jenny was devastated when Gossip Girl released that news about her boyfriend. And many times after that. So I conclude that Dan lied to Rufus that Jenny knew...to momentarily deflect his anger. This does not square with the Dan of the earlier seasons either. He was generally shown as a loving and protective older brother. I do not think jenny would have believed that if she knew what he would do. Of course Jenny was looking at Jonathan hack of the Gossip Girl website to get gossip on Blair in the season 2 finale than asking her all-knowing brother. Dan was also apparently outraged when he saw the blast about her photoshoot. Go figure. So clearly Dan was lying here. And Clearly Dan Humphrey is a better actor than Penn badgley.
I also found it surprising that everyone's reaction on Gossip Girl was so muted. Only Rufus seemed to mention that Dan was the source of 'all that poison'. I guess there must be a reason they didn't share much of that final chapter with us. Because no matter how great a writer he is, it seems difficult to see what he would have to say to get out of all that he has done. Gossip Girl was helpful a few times, but most of the time she was quite venomous and cruel. She did make Lonely Boy prominent by constantly mentioning him in the same way as she did the NJBC members and giving him and his little sister special nicknames of course. I wonder if they would ever have become so prominent had Gossip Girl not chosen to manipulate things in that direction.
Hi everyone. Just saw the finale. We got our endgame. That's the best thing about the finale.
Most of it was focused on the Gossip Girl reveal. Frankly, Dan does seem to fit as far as much of the story goes. There really isn't much to knock him out as the blogger. He has rarely ever been shown sending in any tips to Gossip girl. I can not remember GG ever hitting him with anything (except while it was under Georgina's stewardship). The only incidents I can remember are the season 5 tip at Blair's wedding (and by then Georgina had already hijacked the website, so that can not be used as counterevidence), and the season 1 tip about the gayness of Jenny's boyfriend (Asher). Other than that he did suggest to Blair that they ask GG for help. But that sword cuts both ways. One could also argue that Dan wanted a way to bring that information into play without revealing to Blair how he knew it and therefore asked GG. Moreover, why would he ever think that GG would help out in this case when no one has generally thought that she could be made an accomlice in these schemes before or after? perhaps only the person sending it in could know...
Other things can be seen as hints as well. For example, how did GG ever know about Inside and its contents before it came out? Or that Dan Humphrey slept with Miss Carr?
However there are still some problems (IMHO)
1) If Jenny had known about this for years, how come she didn't use it far more effectively in the days she needed to climb socially. Nate was right. Gossip Girl was brutal to Jenny on many occasions. And how could Dan do much of that to his own sister? And how come she didn't just ask Dan for whatever juicy gossip she needed to sink Blair all those times?
2) GG was supposed to know that Bart Bass was alive. So why would Dan let Rufus enter into a bigamous marriage?
3) Is one to believe that the fellow who was so marvelously incompetent at having a secret agenda that he got caught with his notes by Chuck on the one night that he tried to follow him for writing ideas (the episode where both ended up in jail) and so clueless that he never seemed to know who Georgina Sparks was (in season 1) was simultaneously the all-seeing blogger who managed to keep everything secret from such masters of deception as Chuck and Blair?
Lily should be GG! She has enough free time for that.Read more tv spoilers at: http://www.tvfanatic.com/forum/gossip-girl/general-discussion/chuck-and-blair-20/page-25219.html#ixzz2EsS8ir00
I recall that GG actually knew that Bart was alive and that Diana was hiding him. This would make Lily guilty of bigamy. After watching the promo, I may be willing to accept William van der Woodsen as GG. He is a schemer. And he does love his children. This would (in a twisted way) help him keep track of them. I do feel sorry for Ivy. She was treated horribly by Lily and co. and is still desperate for acceptance.
Seeing the gif above, for the first time ever, I am now hoping that this forgotten ship actually works. She really did seem to love him for several seasons. And he really did come to her rescue many times. The problem was that nate is normally such a straight arrow that he can not tolerate any deviousness from his significant other. But his current predicament may change his views on that.
Thanks for the welcome... I have been missing since the end of last season... i.e. when the Chair/Dair wars were at their peak. Things are different these days for our ship. Interestingly enough, the people who once used to mock us for putting any credence at all in the argument that record low ratings signified the unpopularity of the Dair storyline now want to use low ratings to attack the so-called 'Chuckistan' fanbase.
Most of this season has been, frankly speaking, rather bland. A stupid pact has blocked whatever Chair action we could have hoped for. Seriously, there was more Chair action in the first ten episodes of season 4 then there has been now. Now this twist at the end has me worried. What could possibly be more polarizing than Dair? I don't remember polemics matching the ones around Chair and Dair on any other issue related to this show.
Gossip Girl (IMHO) is almost certainly Dan. Otherwise these anvils "I have a plan, I always have", "you're worse than Gossip Girl, at least she has a conscience", "Last chapter", and the man (I think) that Nate saw in the footage Diana gave him seem difficult to explain. Is there any reason to doubt it? There was a point in season 1 when Dan sent a tip about Jenny to Gossip Girl, and when he suggested that he and Blair ask her for information when they were trying to take down Juliette...but other than that, he has faced minimal damage. maybe this is supposed to be more polarizing?
Hi everyone...long time...
Something more polarizing than Dair? What could that possibly be? That Henry is not actually Chuck's son but someone else's? That Chenny happens again? That Serena and Chuck DID sleep together?
