  1. A question for viewers who love Chair

WKA, yes, yes it would be crossing the line if he did that.

As a bit of moderation here, can we put a little /sarcasm thing if we're being sarcastic? Just so tones aren't confused since it is a difficult thing to perceive in text for some.

I understand that with the UES, but the majority of season 3 has taken place at NYU which is in the village. From personal knowledge, I know that it is EXTREMELY diverse

Look at the cast. Except for a bit of the first season with Isobel, the entire cast is white or asian. There is no diversity within character which leads to the assumption that black, hispanic, etc do not have the money nor ambition to live this lifestyle. We are introduced to a black woman (the impecable and amazing Gina Torres) and Vanessa's mother to have her be a fish out of water in the atmosphere. I understand she is against it because that's her character, but why does it appear to be so difficult for there to be diversity amongst the cast. They're in New York, one of the most diverse cities in the world, yet all of NYU so far is... white.

CBFan, you make a very interesting point. It honestly could be an entirely new discussion topic.

I read it as attempted rape for a few reason, and I admit that some were personal. The visual of Chuck on top of Jenny while she was writhing her body to get away from him made my blood run cold. I forget if it was with Jenny or Serena, but I remember him saying something along the lines of, "You know you want it." I was sick to my stomach with that.

But I want to hear more about what others are saying. Honestly, I could talk for eons about the sexism and racism problems gossip girl has on their plate... but I'm a crazy liberal like that.

Holy shit, I go about my business for the day, and I come back to 8 pages of debate... GLORY!

I do trust Josh, but Stephanie, I am a little skeptical of.

    BFan, I fucking love you.

Someone posted a while back about Chuck raping someone else. Two things come to mind. First: if the writers actually wanted some crazy drama that would be within character, I think this is what they will use. Someone from Chuck's past will come back and claim rape. It would be interested, albeit heart wrenching, seeing how Blair would cope with this knowledge of her love. It could be feasible considering the statue of limitations on rape is 7 years, and he has a dark past.

Saying that last bit unnerved me. Sorry, but I am conflicted in my own admiration for this character when he has allegedly done such deplorable things.

More importantly, I am interested and extremely scared of viewers reactions if this happened. People seem to be brushing it off, and if the characters do... well... I would be knocking on Josh's door along with many members of RAINN. I almost wrote the show after the treatment of the Chuck/Jenny ordeal both during the pilot and when the humprheys moved in with the van der basses.

    But, I digress...

Sweeti, it has been months since I've told you this, but I fucking love you. Bulimia is a condition that is wired in so much more than getting a boy's attention. It's about controlling something when you feel as though you have no control in your life, like when your father leaves for another man and you feel as though your life is spinning out of control. Actually I'm surprised the writers didn't bring it up last season during her downward spiral. It would've logically been a wiser choice than copping out and having her sleep with Jack.

Thanks, WKA. If you ask JKay, I actually obsessively follow the GG conspiracy.

Personally, I do think that there are a lot of point where I would want Blair and Chuck to break up as opposed to stay in an unhealthy relationship. I'm hearing things like he hits her (oh god, I hope they don't go down that path), that a sexual harassment from the past returns (which might be light wording for rape... let's not forget the pilot), and even that he "de-flowers" Jenny (god, I hate that term). I won't go into it, unless you've seen my past life when I was on my soapbox, but the writers have a tendency to be very insensitive towards otherwise sensitive characters' emotions.I hope that's not what happens here, but given what has happened so far this season (the undeserving punishing of Blair, making her into a whipping girl, having Blair ask Chuck to kiss a man when her father left her mother for another man... like that's not going to scar her, etc) I'm not holing my breath.

  10. More twitter spoilers!!!

Just to be ironic, my friend has recently moved to New York from Philly (where I live, and I make no claims about its classiness Tongue out) and the cheapest apartment she could find was in... The UES. It's small as hell, but thought I should make that ironic statement to this conversation.

Oh, and parts of Queens can be really awesome.
