  2. If There's Any Justice by Joey

As I did at the end of the last season, here is a little of 'what happened before the event' of tonight's finale which focuses on how Gary built up to the shooting. Enjoy :)

    INT. THERAPIST’S OFFICE. DAY.

GARY CLARK  is sat on the couch, he seems uncomfortable and is leaning forward slightly. The THERAPIST is writing on her clipboard.

    THERAPIST

    Mr Clark...

    GARY

    Please, call me Gary

    THERAPIST

OK, Gary, it’s completely normal to have lack of sleep, you’re still going through the grieving process and the whole business with the hospital isn’t helping either

    GARY

I’m just so... mad. I never used to get mad

    THERAPIST

    Anger is normal

    GARY

Would you stop telling me what’s normal? This isn’t normal. What’s normal about how I am... about how I feel? I can’t even walk into the goddamn store without feeling like I’m torn inside because everything in that place reminds me of my wife

    THERAPIST

I understand and by normal I mean...

    GARY

I know exactly what you mean. You mean ‘hey, why are you whining? You’re not the only person to ever lose somebody’

    THERAPIST

Not at all! I just want to help you

    GARY

You just want to get money out of me, I don’t want to see you anyway

    THERAPIST

Your lawyer explained that it’d help your case if...

    GARY

If you tell them I’m crazy

    THERAPIST

    You’re not crazy

    GARY

I’m heading that way, this anger... it consumes me. It boils up

    THERAPIST

And you’re looking for someone to blame

    GARY

I know exactly who to blame. Derek Shepherd a...an...and Chief Webber and that bitch who turned off the machine

    THERAPIST

It’s GOOD to have that anger, channel it into something good

    GARY

    Like what?

    THERAPIST

Use it to keep on fighting, for your wife! Fight for justice

    GARY

    Justice? I’ll never get justice...

    THERAPIST

Yes, you will. You need to get closure Gary

    GARY

And some lawsuit’s going to do that?

    THERAPIST

Well if that doesn’t then you need to find a way because clinging on like this isn’t healthy

    GARY

You’re right; I need to channel my anger

    THERAPIST

    Exactly

    GARY

    Thank you, Doctor

GARY gets up and walks towards the door.

    THERAPIST

    Where are you going?

    GARY

    I’m channelling.

    INT.  SUPERMARKET. DAY.

GARY is walking around with his basket. He looks sad, slight tears in his eyes as he puts potato chips, biscuits and other junk food in his basket. He continues walking but looks up, there’s a huge sign saying “AISLE 8 – GUNS AND AMMUNITION”. He clenches his fist and walks over to the aisle. He can’t believe there’s so many guns there, he picks one up, his hand shaking slightly and he closes his eyes, he opens them sharply... intense, anger. He puts it into his basket and looks down the aisle. There’s a display of ammunition with a huge “SALE 50% OFF” sign. He walks over to it and places several boxes into his basket. He walks swiftly down the aisle and heads towards the alcohol aisle. There he sees a vodka and flask gift set and throws it into his basket and walks briskly towards the cashiers.

    INT. THERAPIST’S OFFICE. DAY.

GARY is sat down again, this time he’s shaking and leant very far forward. The THERAPIST looks concerned.

    THERAPIST

That session the other day was very intense

GARY is unresponsive, he’s rocking slightly. His enter demeanour has changed.

    THERAPIST

    You seem tired

    GARY

    I still haven’t slept

    THERAPIST

    Did you try those pills?

    GARY

    I don’t want your pills

    THERAPIST

    They’ll help

    GARY

    I don’t want to sleep

    THERAPIST

    Why not?

    GARY

I can’t rest until... until I get justice. Until things are fair again

    THERAPIST

You can’t do this to yourself... your wife wouldn’t want that

GARY stands bolt up, the THERAPIST flinches.

    GARY

Do NOT say what my wife would’ve wanted! DO NOT.

    THERAPIST

    Gary...

    GARY

    We’re done!

GARY storms out of the THERAPISTS office.

    CUT TO:

    EXT. CAR PARK. DAY.

GARY is walking, like a man on a mission and he gets to his car. He pulls down the glove compartment and his gun is sat there. He turns the ignition and drives...

    CUT TO:

EXT. SEATTLE GRACE MERCY WEST. DAY.

GARY is in his car. He’s holding his gun. He’s crying and looks over, his hand shaking. He takes a deep breath, puts the gun back in the glove compartment and drives away.

    INT. GRAVEYARD. NIGHT.

GARY is standing over a grave.

    GARY

I don’t know what to do Ali... I’m so mad. These past four days I’ve been trying to find an answer but I just don’t have one.

GARY adjusts the flowers on her grave and strokes the gravestone.

    GARY

Did you know that superstores sell guns? It’s crazy... It’s a crazy, unfair world but I’m going to fix it... I’m going to make it all better... I’m going to give them what they deserve

GARY walks away, again as if he’s on a mission.

    INT. GARY’S HOUSE. NIGHT.

GARY walks into his house, he’s carrying his gun. He goes over to his dining room table and places the gun gently on the table. He goes into a cupboard and pulls out the ammo. He fills one of the magazine’s full of bullets and places it inside the gun. He goes into his kitchen and gets his hipflask and places that on the table too. He’s prepared. He kisses a picture of his wife and turns out the light and heads upstairs.

    INT. GARY’S HOUSE. DAY.

GARY walks slowly over to the table and takes his jacket off the chair. He slips the gun into his pocket first. He then reaches into the ammo and pulls a handful of bullets, placing them into his pocket. He takes another handful and places them into his other pocket. He notices his flask and attempts to place it into a pocket but the bullets are in the way. He pauses for a moment and removes the bullets from one pocket, placing the flask there instead. He kisses his wife’s picture and walks out of the door.

    EXT. GARY’S HOUSE. DAY.

GARY gets into his car. His eyes are dead and cold and he turns the ignition and drives off.

    CUT TO:

EXT. SEATTLE GRACE MERCY WEST. DAY.

GARY walks down the pathway and towards the hospital. In the ambulance loading bay he spots a NURSE.

    GARY

    Excuse me?

    NURSE

    Yes?

    GARY

Could you tell me where I can find the Chief?

    FADE.

  3. Where The Truth Lies by Joey

    Meredith (Narrating):

As surgeons we are told to always be honest, to ensure that our patient knows everything they need to know in order to make the correct decisions. We can sugar coat it, make everything seem more positive but we cannot lie. We can't lie, we can't make promises and we can't pretend everything is going to be OK. Yet as people, we lie all the time. We don't tell the truth, we hide information and we make promises we can't keep. The saddest part of it all is that honesty can sometimes fix it all.

Meredith's House. Kitchen. Meredith is sat with Izzie. There are cakes and cookies everywhere.

    Meredith:Somebody's been busy

Izzie:I couldn't sleep, I just keep going over and over things in my mind. I needed it to stop so I baked

    Meredith:You baked?Izzie:Yeah, I baked

    Meredith:And now you feel better?

Izzie:No. What the hell is wrong with him?

    Meredith:You left him, he's hurt

Izzie:I didn't leave him, I just went away for a while

Meredith:You didn't call, you didn't write... he didn't know what happened.

    Izzie:Whose side are you on?

Meredith:I'm not picking sides, Izz, I'm just stating facts

Izzie:Well I feel crappy enough as it is

    Meredith:Why did you leave?

    Izzie:He didn't need a cancer wife

Meredith:He didn't have a cancer wife, you were recovering

Izzie:I was letting him go, he wasn't obligated anymore. He was so fussy, he distracted me.

Meredith:That's crap! Alex doesn't do obligations. He was with you out of love. You knew that and he wasn't the one that got you fired either.

    Izzie:Just leave it, Mer

    Meredith:Well, where did you go?

    Izzie:Why do you even care?

    Meredith:Because you left me too!

    Izzie:What?

Meredith:You didn't just leave Alex, you left all of us. You left me, Christina, Owen, Derek, Bailey... the Chief. You left all of us.

    Izzie:That's insane

Meredith:We all sat and watched you as you got ill, we all watched you get better and then we watched you screw it all up like it was nothing. Derek but his ass on the line, the Chief ignored a DNR... we all went out of our way to give you a life. A life you walked out on.

Izzie:So what, I'm meant to be eternally grateful?

Meredith:You could at least act like you give a damn. Like it meant something because it meant something to us. We lost George and then we lost you.

Izzie:I had a lot to deal with

Meredith:We all did, Izz. Nothing is easy anymore. We're fighting to keep our jobs, the Chief isn't Chief anymore... everything is difficult but we don't walk out, we stay and fight

Izzie:I'm sorry, I was just so lost

Izzie begins to cry. Meredith hugs her.

Meredith:Just don't do it again. We were so worried... where did you go?

    Izzie:I went back to Chehalis

    Meredith:The trailer park?

    Izzie:I had nowhere else...

Meredith:What did you do? Did you work?

    Izzie:You could say that...

Flashback. Chehalis, Washington. Diner. Robbie Stevens is serving two customers.

Robbie Stevens: That's two coffees and what'll you be eatin'?

Diner #1:I'll have the pancakes with bacon please

Diner #2:I'll have scrambled eggs with mine

Robbie:No problem! CRICKET!The kitchen doors swing open, out steps Izzie Stevens dressed as a waitress. Cut back to the House.

    Meredith:Waitressing?!

    Izzie:Don't...

Meredith:You went from surgeon to server?!

Izzie:No hospital would touch me, it was like I was the angel of death or something

    Meredith:Oh Izz...

Izzie:I kept applying and applying to hospitals but nobody wanted me. I realised that I was 16 again and I just had to get the hell out of there. I kept up my treatments but what I really needed was Alex. I didn't care about my job, I didn't care about anything... I just needed Alex so I came back and now... what do I have? Still no job but what's worse... no Alex either

Meredith:What are you going to do?

    Izzie:Go back to square one

    Meredith:Wait, you're leaving again?

Izzie:What's the point in sticking around?

    Meredith:Don't walk out on us

Izzie:I'll stay in touch this time...

    Meredith:You can't go!

Izzie:Why not? Give me one good reason?

    Meredith:I traded the Chief!

    Izzie:What?

Meredith:I let Derek go to the board as long as he hired you back, so please... you have to stay.

Izzie puts her bags down and stares at Meredith in shock.

Izzie:You cost one man his job so I could have mine?

    Meredith:I wanted to help you

Izzie:I want a job because I'm good at what I do, not because my friend is sleeping with the boss

    Meredith:Izz...

Izzie:No... Leave me alone. I thought you were my friend!

Izzie storms out. The door slams as Meredith puts her head down on the counter. She picks up a cookie and bites into it.

    Meredith (Narrating):

Telling the truth isn't always easy, especially when you're not obligated to do so. Yet still we try and hope that our honesty will be rewarded with thanks but sometimes the truth is the last thing people want to hear.

  6. Give Me Strength by Joey

    Another little short... enjoy :)

    _______________________________________________________

Cristina [Narrating]: People are weak. I see weakness all the time. The woman who gives up her life to have babies, the man who gave up his career to travel the world. Its weakness, it’s giving up. I hate quitters, quitters are stupid. What is the point in starting something if you’re not going to complete it? I commit. If I am serious about something, I commit to it. I don’t do things by half, I don’t beg for help, I man up. People are weak. I, am strong.

[A woman is on a stretcher being carried out of an ambulance, she is frowning with a burn mark on her head and a feeble looking man follows her]

    Cristina: What have we got?

Ambulance Man: 32 year old female, wax burns to her head and eye

    Cristina: Wax?

Linda: Candle Wax, this jackass thought he was being romantic

Ray: I’m sorry! I thought I’d try and cheer you up

Linda: Do I look happy Ray? Do I?!

    Ray: Babe...

Linda: Don’t babe me, I’m blind

Cristina: Um, page Sloan. Are you feeling any pain?

Linda: No, these burns are quite pleasurable

[They are taken into a treatment room]

Cristina: 10mg of acetaminophen and bolus IV

Linda: You hear that, Ray, they’re drugging me!

Cristina: You’re going to have to be calm so I can examine you

    Linda: RAY YOU JACKASS

    Cristina: SHUT UP

    [Linda stares at Cristina]

Cristina: Good, now I’m going to take a look at the eye

[Cristina peels back the bandage and we see the eye is badly burnt]

    Ray: Oh god..

Cristina: Get him out of her

    Ray: Linda, I’m sorry!

    Linda: Asshole

    Cristina: You said it

    [Sloan walks in]

Sloan: This better be good Yang, I was on the phone to an estate agent

Cristina: You and Lexi are getting a house?

Sloan: No, I’M getting a house

    Cristina: For yourself?

    Sloan: Yes

Cristina: OK... 32 year old female with candle wax burns to her forehead and eye

    Sloan: Candle Wax?

    Cristina: Romance gone wrong

Linda: Romance my ass, the guy wouldn’t know romance if it bit him on his ass

Sloan: Let’s have a look here

    [Sloan pulls back the bandage]

Sloan: OK, the burn to your forehead will heal by itself. What I am worried about though is the burn to the eyelid...

    [Lexi walks in]

Sloan: Dr Grey, perhaps you could explain the risks of an eyelid burn

Lexi: Um, Corneal Dehydration and ulceration?

    Sloan: Correct

    Linda: Will I go blind?

Sloan: No, but we’re going to have to perform what’s called Debridement to that burn in order for it to heal. This is a minor surgery...

    Linda: Surgery?!

Sloan: I’ll take away the dead skin tissue

    Linda: But surgery?

Cristina: The other method would be autolytic where we would use wet gauze in order to allow the wound to heal the dead tissue itself, however, with the nature of the injury it’s important we remove the dead right away

    Linda: What are the risks?

Sloan: With any surgery there are risks. I will have a Ophthalmic surgeon with me but I assure you I am the best plastic surgeon around

Linda: I’ll have the surgery, on one condition

    Sloan: Yes?

Linda: You make that jackass fiancée of mine watch

[Sloan and Cristina stare at each other, we move to the nurses station where Meredith and Derek are stood talking]

    Derek: Mrs Shepherd

Meredith: I’m not changing my name, Derek

    Derek: Grey-Shepherd?

Meredith: No! You got your wedding

    Derek: My wedding?

Meredith: Can’t you just be happy that we’re married

    Derek: How about a baby?

    Meredith: Seriously?

Derek: I want your crappy babies, remember?

Meredith: I didn’t mean straight away

    Derek: Why not?

    Meredith: Are you serious?

    Derek: Yeah

    Meredith: You want children?

    Derek: Absolutely

    [Derek’s pager goes off]

    Derek: Got to go

    Meredith: Wait!

[Derek runs off as Meredith stands shocked. Cristina by, looks at Meredith and walks back]

    Cristina: You OK Mer?

    Meredith: Derek wants babies

    Cristina: That’s crazy

    Meredith: Thank you!

    Cristina: Love is stupid anyway

Meredith: You and Owen not doing too good?

Cristina: Oh we’re fine; eventually he’ll pluck up the courage to actually touch me

Meredith: At least he doesn’t want babies

    [Cristina’s pager bleeps]

Cristina: It’s my eyelid burn woman

    Meredith: Eyelid? Ouch!

Cristina: Her fiancée burnt her with a candle

Meredith: Who said romance was dead?

[Cristina walks off. A woman walks by with a pushchair, Meredith looks at her]

    Meredith: Stupid babies

    [Cut to the treatment room]

    Ray: How are you feeling?

Linda: Over the moon Ray, you should burn me more often

Ray: For god’s sake I was being romantic you bitch!

    [Everyone looks shocked]

Cristina: This can wait, there’s a bit of a delay

    [They leave]

Linda: Don’t talk to me like that

Ray: I’m sick of you, I try and I try...

Linda: What do you want Ray?

Ray: Compassion! I mean, come on, I proposed to you and all you said was “I guess... now get up you’re embarrassing me”

    Linda: Everyone was looking!

Ray: Because that’s what people do when something amazing has happened but not you, I mean, you don’t even want a proper wedding

Linda: Are you still going on about that?

Ray: You never say I love you

    Linda: I do!

Ray: You’ve never said it, what are you? An ice queen? I’m surprised those burns haven’t healed already

    Linda: Ray...

    Ray: I’m sick of you

    Linda: Ray, please

    Ray: It’s too late now

    Linda: RAY I CAN’T SEE

    Ray: What?

    Linda: Get help!

    Ray: HELP, HELP!

    [Ray runs into the corridor]

Ray: DOCTOR, HELP, SHE’S GONE BLIND

    [Cristina rushes in]

    Cristina: Can you see this?

    [She holds up a pen]

    Linda: Everything has gone dark

    [Sloan comes in]

    Sloan: What happened?

    Cristina: Sudden loss of sight

Sloan: We need to remove that dead tissue, has she been using the artificial tears?

    Ray: Yes

Sloan: Ma’am the burn to your eyelid may be deeper than we thought. Grey, ring the OR, tell them we’re on our way. You’re going to be fine

[Lexi goes to phone as Sloan walks out, Cristina and the nurses raise the sides of the bed and begin to wheel her out]

    Linda: RAY!

[Linda extends her hand, Ray grabs it]

    Linda: I love you

    Ray: I love you too

[He kisses her forehead as she’s wheeled out. Cut to Meredith at the desk, doing charts. Callie sits next to her]

    Meredith: Dr Torres

    Callie: Grey

    [There is an awkward silence]

    Callie: Congratulations on getting married

    Meredith: Thanks

Callie: Should we be calling you Meredith Shepherd now?

    Meredith: No

Callie: Oh right... it’ll be babies next

Meredith: What is with people and freakin’ babies?!

[Arizona walks over and leans over the desk]

Arizona: I just saved a babies life!

    Meredith: I’m out of here

[Arizona and Callie stare at her, confused, as Meredith leaves with her charts]

Arizona: Dinner and a movie tonight?

    Callie: Nothing...

Arizona: Fancy, I know. I was thinking Pizza?

    Callie: Sounds perfect

[Arizona and Callie kiss. Callie smiles and Arizona walks away. Cut to the treatment room and Linda is back from surgery and Ray is at her bed side. Cristina enters]

Cristina: So the surgery went well from our part. We’re going to take off the bandages and then hopefully, it’ll be a result

[Cristina unravels the bandages from around Linda’s face. She steps back as Linda looks over at Ray]

    Linda: I can see you!

    [Ray’s eyes fill with tears]

    Ray: I’m so sorry

    Linda: No, I am

    Ray: I love you

    Linda: I love you to

    [Cristina exits]

Cristina [Narrating]: Weakness... the universal trait. We are all weak in some way. Weak in tackling  a problem face on...

[We see Cristina in the car park, Owen is on the other side, he simply waves]

Cristina [Narrating]: Weak in deciding what you want...

[Meredith and Derek meet in the lobby, they hold hands and Meredith clutches her stomach as they walk out]

Cristina [Narrating]: Which is why we have to embrace the moments when we are strong, when we do what we were committed to doing. That’s when you can truly say... I am strong.

Just a little something to fill in the gap before George got ran over by the bus. Hope you like :)

[ A house. An elderly blonde lady is on the phone when a familiar face bursts through the door crying ]

Lady: I’ll have to go, i’ll ring you back. Amanda, darling what this time?

Amanda: He dumped me, ma... he dumped me

Lady: Oh honey, but it’s only been a week

    Amanda: Thanks for reminding me!

    [Amanda’s mom hugs her]

Lady: Oh honey, wipe those eyes... no silly boy is ever worth crying over

Amanda: Don’t you understand? I’m so fed up. Nothing ever goes right for me. I feel like I’m always in the foreground. I want to be somebody! I want to fall in love with someone who loves me back. I want to be someone other than that silly girl who still lives with her Mom

Lady: Darling, fate plays a big part in life

Amanda: Well it seems like my fate is to be alone forever

Lady: Trust me, somewhere out there is your white knight, waiting to rescue his soulmate

[At Seattle Grace, The Chief’s office]

    Chief: The Army, seriously?

    George: It’s what I want

Chief: Is the programme not good enough for you, O’Malley?

George: It’s not that, sir, because it’s been great here. You know except for the whole LVAD thing and failing my intern exam by one point and my Dad dying and then my rush wedding which was a disaster and now she’s a lesbian..

    Chief: O’MALLEY!

George: Yeah, but, anyway it seems right. Y’know? Here I am just in the foreground. Good old reliable George. I want to be remembered as a hero, someone who did something not some loser

    Chief: You’re not a loser, O’Malley

George: I want to be someone else, I don’t want to be 007

    Chief: 007?

George: It’s a long story, I just know this is the right thing to do and I hope you don’t mind the fact that I am leaving so soon

    Chief: O’Malley, if you’re sure I’ll support you 100%

    George: I’m sure Chief

Chief: Then I think its best you go home, visit your Mom and prepare yourself. Good luck, O’Malley

    George: Thank you Sir

[They shake hands, the hands then change to Amanda’s and a stranger. Her heel has snapped and someone is helping her off the floor]

Amanda: Thank you, guess you’re my white knight

[The stranger is joined by a lady, she kisses him]

Amanda: Or not. Thank you, a real gentleman you’ve got there

[They walk off as Amanda steadies herself by a tree]

Amanda: God, I don’t think my luck can get any worse today

[Seattle Grace, car park. George is walking out. He bumps into Nurse Olivia]

    Olivia: Hi

George: Hey, long time no see

Olivia: Yeah, i’ve been working elsewhere; I thought it was best with y’know...

George: Oh I am so over that

    Olivia: Oh, good, well... yey!

    George: Keep well Olivia

Olivia: Yeah, you too George. See you around?

    George: Someday, yeah

[George walks away, Olivia looks confused and walks towards the hospital. George turns around, takes a deep breath and salutes the hospital]

George: 007 has had his final mission

[A street, Amanda is limping down the sidewalk. She stumbles into a shoe shop]

Amanda: I need the cheapest pair of shoes you have, I’m already late for work by...

    [She looks at her watch]

    Amanda: THREE HOURS?! Oh man...

    Attendant: Are these OK?

Amanda: They’re lovely, here’s my card

[The attendant runs the card at the till]

Attendant: Ma’am, your card has been declined

Amanda: Ah typical, pass it here

Attendant: Your bank has instructed me to cut it up

    [The attendant cuts it]

Amanda: Excellent. I have my last bit of cash leaving me with ooh, five dollars

[The attendant takes the money, Amanda puts on the shoes]

Amanda: Can you put these in the trash? Thanks

[Amanda slams her old shoes onto the desk and exits the store, she walks along the path into a coffee shop. She queues up. Outside we see George, on his cell]

George: Mom, look, its great news. You’ll be a bit angry at first but it’ll pass. No, I never got married again. Nobody is pregnant... MA! I’ll explain later

[George enters the shop, Amanda is pleading at the desk]

Amanda: I have five dollars. Today I’ve been dumped, fallen over, broke my shoe, had my credit card cut up infront of me and I really, really need coffee

    Shop worker: I’m sorry, it’s $6.30

Amanda: Oh my god! Are you blood suckers or what... I mean...

    George: Here

[George hands two dollars over the counter]

    Amanda: Thank you

George: No problem. Can I get a coffee to go please?

[Amanda exits the shop and the shop worker makes George his coffee. Out the window we can see that Amanda has stood in dog poop. She throws her hand in the air and starts trying to scrape it up against a wall, people staring at her as they walk past. George’s phone rings]

George: Ma, i’m at a coffee shop. I’m on my way. I’ll tell you when I get there. Ah, i’m leaving now!

[He takes his coffee and exits the shop, Amanda just in front of him. Her cell rings]

Amanda: Rick, is that you? Why are you ringing me? Do you want to get back together? I knew you’d call... WHAT?! YOU’VE MET SOMEONE ELSE ALREADY? WE ONLY JUST BROKE UP! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?!

[Amanda hangs up sobbing and begins to dial another number. She walks quicker, towards the end of the sidewalk]

Amanda: Mom, it’s me. He just phoned me and he’s with someone else already...

[She steps onto the road, the light is on red, a bus speeds closer to her]

    George: HEY!

Amanda: I can’t believe him. I can’t believe he’d do this. He never loved me. I WANT TO DIE

[George runs through the crowd and onto the road. The bus speeds ever closer and he pushes Amanda out the way, she lands hard on the ground. She looks up and with a gasp the bus slams into George. There are screams as we fade to white.]
