Originally CW was two different channels - WB and UPN. Buffy tv show originated in those channels. The first five seasons aired on WB and the last two(due to being darker in nature and having higher age rating and etc) in UPN.
AS for Season4 Finale...well...it bassically spoils the entire plot of tv show :) Everything. It, as well as Season1 episode "Nightmares", Season 4 finale "Restless" and 9th episode of season 4 foreshadows a lot of plotlines to come.
Restless plot was bassically that due to the spell they did, they all, as well as the very first slayer, participated in a joint prophetic dream.
As hinted by the season2 episode with Buffy's birthday, where buffy dreamt willow talking in french(and bassically saying the phrase Oz said to her about monkey cookie being only one with clothes, a phrase Buffy was not around to hear) and faith-buffy dreams, prophetic dreams sort-of tap into unconscious minds of everyone alive and thus self-aware participants might interact and appear in each other's dreams.
In case of "Restless", it connected the minds of Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles and First Slayer, creating extreme representations of their inner selves, as well as the things to come. A lot of things in this episode hint at future personal plotpoints up to the very end of series. As well as certain huge tragedies to come. Once one finishes watching the show, it is worth to rewatch that certain episode to completely understand what happens there.
If you notice, each season had hints towards the upcomming one:
Season 1 mentioned Angelus.
Season 2 mentioned mayor.
Season 1 2 and 3 sort of hinted at government awareness of supernatural forces.
Season 4 has a lot of important mentions referencing to the season 5(actually the very first mention of season 5 plot was in buffy's dream in the end of season 3 where faith provided a cryptic "Little Miss Muffet counting down from 7-3-0" answer to buffy's "i have to do something if forgot". 730 is the amount of days that were left till season5 finale and one of biggest events in buffy's life)
THE ONLY thing that has no foreshadowing value of future plotlines in Restless was Cheeseman. That guy meant completely nothing.
I am betting it won't be that easy(considering that is exactly what characters assumed).
Betting on either:- Siobhan being alive and hiding, setting up Bridget for something bad. We know that both sisters are certainly no angels and Siobhan seemingly was a very manipulative woman. - Bridgett having killed Siobhan herself.
IMO the best thing would be if Ripper-Stefan outKlauses Klaus, taking over whatever he is planning to do, thus somehow taking over the role as big bad for a while around mid-season. However I doubt this show has the balls to dirty stefan up in that level.
Second best thing would be on if Stefan was actually twisted. We know Damon does things he did because he can't help it, so why not have Stefan do bad things because he ENJOYS them? Psychologically torturing main characters, killing some recurring or regular character, etc. However Yet again I fear this show would fear to let Stefan do anything remotelly evil or twisted...
The difference is:
- Will he BE bad evil super duper awesome snarky evil ripper Stefan who manages to do lasting damage and something horrible and twisted. (think: Angelus)
- Will we be told on just how "bad" he is while he sulks around chugging blood for five episodes and then turns good without any lasting effects to other characters.
It has more to do with the overall skill and vision than effects, IMO.
As for editor, after effects or sony vegas are way better choices than WMM. WMM is only good for generic family photo slideshows and stuff, it does not have stability nor features :)
Book Elena = Less-Sociopathic-TV-Show-Katherine + Buffy from BtVS.
I know. Same for me. Her "talk" with her mother in season two finale was also heart-wrenching thing. Or her "this is all I ever do" speech to Cordelia in season 3. Or her "i dont understand how to live in this world if these are the choices" speech in season5, or pretty much ANY and every scene of her in season 6(especially the whole "everything I feel, everything I touch. this is hell" part) and 7.
Not to mention Anya's "but i don't understand how we go on through this" speech in season 5. And when a sociopathic thousand year old demon in BTVS has more emotion and personality and feeling than your main character in tvd, you just know we have a HUGE problem.
A lot of problems with Elena come from how her character is written. WE KNOW N.Dobrev can act, but writers are are hellbent on making her unlikeable, boring, bland and emotionlessly stupid.
What Ian says at the start pretty much is how I feel. This show DOES NOT KNOW HOW to combine mythology exposition with character development. Otherwise what he says about damon pretty much confirms that K.Williamson is and has been pretty much copying character of Spike upon him.
Otherwise I hope Damon won't get pussified too much and that Stefan will actually GET to be EVIL actually.
