Oh and how many of those shows actually managed to make those characters a part of the whole storyline, instead of singling them out with " look at me, i am gay" written on anything that has to do with them in the scenes(example: glee, warehouse 13, most of current homosexual character inclusions into shows, where same-gender relationships are included purelly for the fact they are same gender relationships). In how many of them the fact with whom the character slept had no impact at all on their character or storylines?
I don't care about some " coming out" character story. Thats has been done to death and only adds some political correctness, not depth. How about adding such character(s) and instead of focusing only on that, making them interesting characters on their own, without threating with whom they sleep as something exceptional?

Anyway, going by comments on how " alaric disapproves of DE relationship hints" , i bet its something similar to " went off your anger, young padawan" kind of stuff, where he gets Elena to fess up on what she actually feels and thinks right now.(at least i hope its that, elena needs even if its way too late, some character development). Going by other spoilers we have already seen, apparantly the result will surprise alaric.

Oh right, gay characters never appeared on shows before Buffy, I forgot ^^
But BTVS was pretty much one of first mainstream shows to allow same sex , hm, sex and same sex canon relationships :)
IN FACT. Buffy was THE FIRST show to openly show same-sex sex on network tv so yeah. And make it longer than one minute no less. :)
Because I do fear that the whole plot will go in the garbage just so they can focus on that one gay character. I've seen it happen in other shows, and it's really annoying...
Agreed. Far too many shows take characters sexual preference as THE MAIN POINT of the plotline. As long as the show just does not point its finger on every scene to the character shouting " look he/she's gay!" and actually manages to add the character into plotlines, then there's nothing wrong with that.

It seems a bit weird that they would go on a roadtrip now as well... And that too Alaric and Elena..... I mean it sounds spontaneous (like something Damon would do) but Alaric and Elena??
This show seems to have random obsession with random setting trips. Need to give a line for Elena to say? Let's trip to waterfalls!...

There's a major problem in that actually as both season 1 and season 2 so far have been built up on the very identical layout template. I can only hope that S3 will be different, but now they have announced a road trip already. What is it with these? Can't the show develop characters WITHOUT putting them only ina separate car?...
