General reaction towards everything we know about s3 so far and the prospect of rushed DE, rushed Stefanus and klaus being bunny eater.
what season 2 managed to do for me is to make Steffan, Damon, Elena, DE, SE, Alaric, plot, villains entirely dull and boring. There's nothing natural or interesting about neither DE nor SE, and the members of that triangle themselves became so oversaturated personality wise and bland that all I can muster at DES trianlge is "meh". The twist-upon-twist plotline was decent in s1 but in s2 it grew old, to the point that many things started conveniently happening just to move the plot along or stall it (oh look bonnie lost powers just as they got moonstone! oh look Jonas went insane and gave her powers back! oh look not-turn-vamp spell!). Frankly its already too late to develop DES, its too late to give Elena personality or character development. Its just..too late for these things.DES, ELena, damon, steffan, all of them already bore the viewers like me, who expected more. If the writers do not get their act together by s3 a lot of people will be even more disappointed.
Sadly going by everything that is known now, they are continuing to chase after fanbase whims instead of making the show coherent and interesting
sad, because after a hugely bland and generic first four episodes, the show was off to quite decent start. Sadly they rushed the plotlines that needed to wait and keep stalling the one's that are way past their expiration date, forgot to develop their characters and generally by the S1 finale, the show has turned into one-trick-pony
They DELIBERATELY set it so that
going by how writers worship Steffan's development this season and how they see their characters(matt is the best man to ever exist, caroline is a lame girl who puts her foot in her own mouth and Elena had a lot of development as strong female!), I doubt they even realize what they are doing. In their eyes, steffan is just as godly developed as damon is, sadly.
What they are doing is chuck-bassing damon. Fan's love him? Okay, let's throw whatever the hell we can to make him bad boy forgetting there are other facets of his character! Fans will love him still, right!?
the character in reference was a fan favorite on GG. AS a result writers managed to turn him into the most unlikeable jerk who prostitutes his "love interest" to a person who tried to repeatedly rape his mother, so he can buy a damn hotel and writers still manage to somehow see that as "epic love story" and joke around about his behavior. Seems familiar? Andie/Damon situation, as well caroline/damon situation and how jokingly comedic writers see those rape storylines joking around them.
the main victim of this, in the main cast, would be Stefan
don't worry. doubtful they would neglect steffan. They will most likely do what they always do and neglect elena.
He's gonna have his development, at least i hope so,
I am sorry, but I just can't see how this show would make lasting impact over the actions of the characters. they have not tried to do that till now, i doubt they will suddenly start now. Every situation, every development, revelation, would ALWAYS lead back to status quo, sadly.
It would seem that the writers of this show no nothing about multitasking because they could have been making steps to develop his character along side Damon's.
with this I agree. They CAN'T multitask.They can't have story and chara-development at the same time. They somehow manage NOT to focus on developing multiple characters at once and they fail at that.
Finale of S2 was a PERFECT opportunity to develop everyone. They missed it so they can have another damon rage-cry and another SHOCKING thing, sadly...
As the favorite "fanboy", Damon is now widely expected to save the day in the nick of time ALL THE TIME, and ultimately, get the girl. If he doesn't........just watch the enormous backlash that the writers will have coming thire way.
the problem is not that. The problem is that even though Damon eventually does everything in this show now, characters and cast and writers still act as if he is oh my god how wrong and not right, while steffan, who does nothing, is supposed to be the rightful one. THATS what damages the perception of both characters in public
Frankly i hoped the show would take klaus backstory from the books as it was, that is:
an OLD being, no one even know if he is actually a vampire or maybe something older or maybe satan itself. Someone who can't even remember his start of existance as the first memory he has is that from bronze age. Someone mad powerful and plain wicked, pissed off at the main cast because they killed katherine(who was his sort-of favorite playtoy). Someone who enjoys everything he does in manic psychopath kind of way, be it chasing people in through the house(and laughing manically) after cutting off electricity or making someone watch as he slowly rips their friend apart and enjoy the fact that that someone can't enter due to no invitation. or just plain take a known character, squeze all the blood out of him and paint his house with it.
I don't care for his emo rage fits or past love or how screwed up he is. THAT SHOULD NOT MATTER. he is first damn big villain. the last thing he needs is to be turned into some "lovesick old fool ith family issues who needs a hug and will get a romance in the present".
but I hated the way they showed Anakin turn to the dark side... I mean I know he full raged @ everyone and had 'darkness' in him but then they showed him turning to te dark side for Padme and then he was suddenly very evil
Exactly. That as not a turn to the darknesss of a great man. That was an emo teenager having a rage fit and suddenly he nailing puppies to the wall, while still doing his emo teenager rage fit. If they turn Klaus into something similar...uHHHHH.
