I lived in England for the first 13 years of my life, now I'm in NY so it's pretty easy for me to hear the slips.

Well, it's not really strange. It's an expensive ring. They can sell it and get the money. It isn't uncommon for muggers to steal possessions rather than money.
Why do you need to live in England to know people that look and act almost like Cook?
I don't know. I haven't met any since I left the country 4 years ago though, so I assumed Cook-alikes were exclusive to England.
I think the major difference is that he is fictional and you, well, don't really have to deal with him and his drunk and drugged ass for real.
Of course, but it's more that he just reminds me of those people. If I could forget about all those Cooks back in London, I can sort of see the appeal.

Cook's alright (I actually grew to like him), but knowing that I know people like that puts me off of him a bit. Plus I don't find him attractive at all, so that's another minus.
