I guess they can have Caroline be the first person who realises SilasStefan is not really Stefan (~she knows him better than anyone, creys~) and then they can have her save him from the bottom of the sea (~she saved him, oh my shipper heart~). Sounds like a catchy plan LOL.
If season 6 ends up being TVD's last one (which I think it will, because I can't imagine e.g. Paul Wesley renewing his contract), they could easily move her to TO at the end of season 5 without having to worry about ratings. That is IF TO is still alive LOL. CW has gotten a habit of renewing even terribly rated shows lately so we'll see.
The big problem really is the lack of purpose for her character. I don't know if she'll necesserily become the next Matt on TVD...I still think the writers plan to make her Stefan's new love interest, there's been too much foreshadowing (even in the last episode, with Lexi telling Stefan that you can have multiple soulmates in your life and that he must move on). Perhaps Plec wants to turn the triangle into a quadrangle and make Caroline the show's 4th lead? Then she could end the show with DE and SC together and feel accomplished that she satisfied everyone lol.

The spin-off won't necessarily fail without KC. But its a little stupid for the writers to believe that Caroline is a non-factor. She is one of the major reasons why people love Klaus.
The spinoff won't fail because of KC. It will fail because of a) the main idea is terrible (villain gets redeemed through magical baby, really?), b) the writing will most likely be terrible (it's a Plec show), c) the time slot is tricky and CW expects the show to self-start instead of supporting it somehow.
But I can see Pleccy accusing bitter shippers for all her problems. And I can definitely see her ressurecting KC to boost the ratings.
I think the network overestimated TO's potential for success, putting it against tough competition without a decent lead-in, and I think Plec underestimated Caroline's contribution to Klaus' popularity.It was handled carefully because you never know how TO will hit off. And if the LI's don't work out well with fans on that show, they'll have to keep reassuring you that K is still ~enamoured with C. Snorlax also said that he would be "wreaking havoc with her" if the show drops. But yeah, the last scene was a foreshadow but likely also a backup plan
IA. Right now I get the impression that KC is Pleccy's security nest. First she'll try to make the spinoff work as an independant show, but if when it flops she will surely use some TVD ingredient to boost TO and Caroline/KC will be an obvious solution. And you're so right about the LIs. If Klamidia or whatever it's called is a hit with the fans, KC will be easier to drop. But if viewers reject the new LIs for Klaus, Pleccy will have to pull KC out of the closet again.
All things considering, it actually looks good for us LMAO.
The thing is, JM didn't say anything bad. Unless I'm missing something, people got mad at him on Thursday because he said KC would get some resolve. Then they got extra mad when he said that the ship's popularity made them sceptical about the spinoff. Idk, I don't see any insult there, people got way too pissed for no reason.
I think DG likes to believe that TO will be a more serious show (don't know if he's in denial or what) but lol. Perhaps he doesn't have full understanding of TVD since he's been on so rarely lately, but the show is a shipfest atm. You don't say shippers don't matter when the show is BASED on shipping.

No, not really. He didn't even really say that Klaus will get another LI. People got angry because he said "who cares about shippers" or something like that. And that fans are whimsical and get violent over what they want.
Tbh I'm surprised that he didn't get MORE hate. Considering the amount of hate JM gets these days even though he's always proper and respectful in his interviews, I expected DG's boldness to get people even angrier.
Tbh Paul is just tired of the triangle and probably sees Caroline as the only viable option out now that Rebekah is gone and Kat has been Elijah'ed.
But Pleccy rarely gives Paul what he wants (watch the Silas plot get resolved in 2 episodes) so let's hope she stays in character lol.

I've been reading a few tweets from the last couple of conventions and man, Paul seems to be pushing for Steroline pretty hard. Why does he want to see me suffer? :P
Also, Ian is apparently team Bamon and team Stelena now. Not surprised, I guess he's not looking forward to all the season 5 awkwardness with his ex LOL. That breakup had perfect timing. NOT.
