I actually am a Chair shipper and don't believe Dair is an abomination. I think it will and is happening - we are not debating this. However if Dair is to happen surely it can be done organically - no ? i.e we don;t need Blair to tell Chuck she is over him in order for Dan to win her heart. We don't need to recycle the same kiss that CB famously shared at the end of S2 . We don't need to invent essay storlines that happened off screen. I am all for Dair if it's done organically and doesn't imitate something else - why can't it stand on it's own merits ? Why imitate a famous Chair scene- be original , write something new - why can't this be done.
My issue is with the way they Dair relationship is being portrayed as actually to the couple itself . Dan admits he basically has been making Chuck look bad for months and allowed Serena and Chuck to take the blame and Blair doesn't bat an eyelid ??? She forgives him ? So it's ok to screw over your best friend and the man you were saying you were madly in love with a few episodes ago ?
^I think the pacing the last episode made it really hard to understand what it was that Chuck and Dan were actually saying to each other. I'm pretty sure Chuck is convinced that Dan was activly trying to keep Blair all to himself. And Dan was denying it up until Blair showed up. It was almost like a "fine, whatever. its true". I don't think he did the things (intentionally) that Chuck said he did. I think he just said yes and left b/c he thought it was a pointless and stupid conversation.
Really? Because afterwards he apologised to Blair and said he just did it because she was talking about how much she didn't love Louis and he wanted to stop the wedding. That sounds quite intentional to me and you know what - that part I get - he loves her and doesn't want her marrying someone else. It was his actions after the fact that I don't understand - he stopped the wedding and got what he wanted but he purposely didn't tell Serena where they were and then allowed both Serena and Chuck to take the blame for something he knew he did . I get why he sent the video , I don't get why he allowed Serena and Chuck take the blame - it was unneccesary
Well, Dan did a bad thing! So? Not he first not the last to do a bad thing on this show...
Adn we know Blair is very forgiving type of person ;]
He wasnt there when Serena took the blame. And he didnt 'intentionally' keep B from CS, the GGWriters confirmed that that was only what C thought. Dan left cause' he didnt give a shit about the conversation, and he understands that if B would be swayed by something like that, then DB don't stand a chance anyway.
"Blair ONLY seems to want Chuck when he has a 'serious' girlfriend."
Sounds like you missed the entire 2nd and 3rd seasons of the show.
Oh please, get in line. Nair shippers got seriously pissed first when Serena told Dan "I love you. Always have. Always Will." And guess what in season 2, when the conversation was about Nair vs. Chair, Nate's character was shown to be a total d-bag to make way for Chair. Please stop acting like your fanbase is the only one that the writers have it for. They are equal opportunity ship destroyers.
As far as Chair vs. Dair (again). People will see things from different perspectives depending on what their preference is. To Chair shippers nothing makes sense and what is happening between Dan and Blair is an abomination. To Dair shippers, the greatest thing this show could ever have done has happened, so all they are seeing are rainbows and unicorns everywhere. There has never been a couple on Gossip Girl who hasn't broken up over some stupid shit. Could you just let people be happy for a little while? So their ship is happening. So fucking what?
I agree with this. Chair fans are really, REALLY getting awfully annoying and are aggravating the hell out of everyone else who doesn't take this show so damn seriously.
Dan walking away wasn't him admitting to what Chuck was accusing him of - not really. It was him deciding not to get involved in a fight with a madman. It was so clear to me but Chair shippers have a different agenda so of course they will see it differently. And Dan didn't know Serena took the fall for the video and frankly speaking, Blair found out on the day of that Chuck didn't send the video. So what exactly are people talking about?
And of course Blair had to tell Chuck he was over him otherwise, you Chair shippers will go on and on about how Dan is her last resort blah blah. So I am glad she told him she's not in love with him. He needed to hear that and so did Chair shippers. Do I think CB is over for good? No. But I am enjoying DB now and having fun too.
And the only thing similar to the Chair scene is "Say it." Everything is different so what's the big deal? So Blair bring over the donuts she bought down the street?
And Chair fans will never life Dair regardless of the plot. You only wanted Dair if it was made obvious that she was still madly in love with Chuck and guess what? This isn't the Chair show which means the world doesn't have to revolve around Chair being the ultimate couple.
