I know it's too early to speculate about what's at the end of the series at this point but I was hit by boredom and wonderment. I was thinking about how the series would wrap up due to the likely possibility of Season 5 as GG's last. At this rate, that would be majority of the characters being in their junior year in college and turning 22 years old. What are your thoughts? Do you think there will be a big time jump? An open-ended scene? An actual resolution of all ties?

How do you guys envision the end of gossip girl? It could be your ideal ending or how you think the writers would go about it.

I'm 39859834967% sure about one endgame. As much as I hate SS and JS, they're still smart enough to end the series with Blairena and leave all the male characters behind. Yes, the fandom is going to flip and everyone's going to be mad, but why should they even care? It's the series finale, that means no more dropping ratings and no more angry tweets (ugh, not really). GG is all about Blair and Serena, always were. I imagine the ending as an open-ended scene with Blair and Serena in a red sports car, driving like Thelma and Louise into the sunset, not giving a single fuck.

Like it's fucking supposed to be.

    fuck yeah

I've thought about it sometimes.    Finales are a big deal usually but not for shows like Gossip Girl.   Soaps tend to end mostly in bittersweet generic ways with no big revealations or mysteries, or final messages to make you think about the ending.     So I don't envision anything special to be honest: someone might die again, someone might get married again, and someone might finally move on from the city and into the big bad world.

However, that being said, the most random thing that I ever came up with in tems of the ending was that the whole show was Blair's dream :)

    ^I like that idea.

I think/hope they won't cater to one certain chip for the last scene. I imagine it being a friednship scene between Serena and Blair--it's what this show is built on. OR I can imagine them doing some clever scene with the actual Gossip Girl in it.

    ^ I love this! :D

I was also thinking of the possibility of one tragic event and then a time jump with just Blair and Serena reuniting.

I can also see the writers doing some sort of S1 parallel scene like someone who went away coming back. My weirdest idea was kind of like the Will and Grace finale: a child of Serena and a child of Blair getting to know each other and a Blairena reunion.

    Or Dan's novel

    This is actually plausible.

I really do want them to use the death card in the finale though, and use it right this time. Killing off a main would be more than awesome.

They kinda did that already with Jenny in the s3 finale.

The idea of the whole thing being Dan's novel is interesting. Him actually having never been introduced to the inside in the first place, still obsessing over Serena. That'd be kinda sad, actually.
