   my point is that dan needs to grow up and fight for Serena and she needs to be hard to get to restore her self respect :P

   He doesn't want Serena. He sought comfort in the familiar after being led to believe that his relationship was over. Not saying that Dan didn't jump the gun; he did, but Serena had certainly had her hand in it.

    

   That being said, I wouldn't put it past the writers to use Serena's latest downward spiral to have Dan come in and save her and go back to the original S1 couples. I wonder if anyone told them that shows are allowed to be dynamic.

   That being said, I wouldn't put it past the writers to use Serena's latest downward spiral to have Dan come in and save her they probably will :P all they do is recycle storylines. At this rate they do not have any functioning  relationship in the show ( except maybe lola and nate :P)

   I wouldn't be surprised if Derena is endgame in S6, actually I am expecting that. The writers will just invent things like they did with Chuck saying to Blair he always put her firs, hahahahahahahahahah. So yea enjoy your ship, I will watch S6 only for laughs.
