Chair Over For Good

Ok...I'm just being a pessimist right now...what if CHAIR is over for good and the writers are trying to make Nate and Blair happen again for real?

Keep in mind I don't want this to be the case and the writers keep on saying that they're the core essence of the show and all...I would literally never watch a Schwartz/Savage production again!

::puts on her optimist hat::
I don't think Chair's over, I just think it's the kind of pairing that's destined to have massive, MASSIVE angst. They're the modern Rhett and Scarlet - fighting, scheming, hurting one another, even though they love each other desperately - all sandwiched between passionate, swoon-worthy kisses.
Seriously, Chair can't be Darena (not now, anyway). It can't be sweet and gentle or, as Chuck said earlier, all hand holding and going to the movies. Chair is fiery - intense - the essence of passion - the kind of romance that inspired quotes like "the course of true love never did run smooth".
Blair and Chuck are going to bounce around before settling down - perhaps with other partners in the mix, so Nate is a possibility, just like Vanessa is a worrisome option for Chuck - but when GG is all said and done, (and unless one of them dies) I can't imagine them ending up with anyone other than each other. :)

Thanks furygirl...that's good to hear. I want them together and I know the writers absolutely love them but I worry sometimes because I don't want them to eff them up. Re: the Nate/Vanessa connection with Chuck and Blair...that would be too close for comfort. It'd be kinda gross with them all sharing bodily fluids like that. Personally I kinda want Nate to go after Serena and have the writers create this big Nate/Serena/Dan triangle. I'd love Chuck to advise Nate on how to take Dan down and Dan basically not knowing what the heck to do. I don't really care what happens to Vanessa but on the boards any hint of Vanessa/CHuck is generally frowned upon. I don't see the writers going that route. I think they tempt us with storylines and then see how they're accepted (like the episode where it looked like Chuck was going to go for Vanessa and then people freaked out). The writers have their own agenda but they also aren't stupid and they do listen to fans' response to certain storylines and character pairings (I think Nate/Jenny ended because people were generally grossed out, not to mention they really don't have that much chemistry because people keep on thinking of the age difference).
Sometimes I just put the pessimist hat on. I guess I don't trust writers as much as I say I do.
But seriously, if Chuck and Blair could get over Season 1 when Chuck called Blair a sweaty old horse and kicked her when she was down, I think they're recover here.

If Chair end I will never watch gossip girl again and try and convince as many people as I can not too either so it's canceled.

I'll sign tha petition. Ultimately though, to give Schwartz some credit, for those fans that wanted Ryan and Marissa on the OC to end up together, the whole thing didn't work out mostly because Mischa Barton the actress who played her got a ginormous head and wanted to leave the show. I think he killed her cause she pissed him off. So ultimately he might have wanted M & R to end up together. I never saw Season 4 because by then the show bored me to tears, but after reading the ending on wikipedia, it seems as if Ryan never really got over Marissa.
I don't think it would be viable to make CHAIR such a significant part of the show and then completely end them for good. I wrote this thread because there are times when I freak out and think they'll destroy the Chair just to appease the fans that loved Nate and Blair in the book series (even though Nate doesn't actually end up with Blair in the books). But upon second and third and fourth thought, it does seem like it would be the kiss of death to do it. I can't remember a show in which the writers gave you such a relationship and then took it away forever...they may suspend it briefly but it never completely goes away. It'll be interesting to see what the writers do. The threads are filled with freaked out fans, begging the writers not to ruin CHAIR.
If they end the season with Blair and Chuck, I wonder what they could possibly do with Season 3. The cougar stories will be done twice this year, after Dan gets it on with his teacher. There's been a death. What's left is a rape...a real one. I can't imagine what they'll think up but honestly I'm one of the few who want the show to end after Season 3. I'd rather have a great show that one that gets boring and the longer it lasts, the longer the back and forth drama will continue.

I don't think you'll have to convince maybe people to turn away from GG. It's clear the majority of people, including journalists who write for the big tv magazines, watch the show for Chuck and Blair. Someone mentioned that Nate and Blair didn't work out because the writers didn't give them a spicy enough storyline. Sorry, but each sex scene or wannabe sex scene they had, was boring. Chuck and Blair have that natural chemistry that's rare; they don't even have to say anything to each other for them to be sexy and hot!

i want them to be together, but dunno. schwartz seems to be very sneeky with their story, if they end up happily ever after maybe the show wont be this great success anymore.
yeah maybe chuck and blair are the modern gone with the wind, but gone with the wind did not have happy ending

Blair: You say I always bet against you. Not this time. I'm all in.
