My love for the couple has died a bit. The reason for this is because the writers have completely written out the characteristics of both characters, which made me fall in love with them in the first place.
Their so called schemes this season have been laughable. Chuck and Blair are definitely capable of so much more, but the writers have watered them down to put other characters in the spotlight. Nate was amazing in the scheming department last episode when he usually isn't much of a schemer. I rest my case.
Also, I'm not saying that hot moments or sex is the most important thing in the show. It shouldn't be and if you think it is, then watch porn to avoid disappointment. Again, Chuck and Blair have been watered down in that area. They are acting like an old married couple most of the time, which is fine when it happens. Right now, they haven't even hit 20 yet. I'm not saying they shouldn't be happy together, but there are better ways of showing it. Plenty of fanfiction writers can write Chuck and Blair fluff and make it believable. Sometimes I forget how old they really are on the show.
Again, I don't think I will ever stop shipping this couple, but the sacrifices that the writers have taken to shove other characters down our throats is almost unbearable. I am not even a Vanessa hater, but evidently the writers have made Blair such an immature brat this season just to make other characters like Vanessa shine. Mind you, I find Blair may be improving from initial episodes and my biggest problem with Chuck isn't even that he seems to have lost his balls this season, but do you expect me to believe that Chuck Bass of all people adjusted to having a relationship for the first time ever so well? My friend started watching Gossip Girl this season with me without having seen the other seasons. I told her that Blair was Chuck's first girlfriend and that he was a womanizer or whatever before and she didn't believe me. I would have expected him to struggle a bit before reaching this stable, happy stage with Blair.
So, again, it's not the couple. It's the way the writers have approached their relationship. It's sloppy. Fanfiction writers understand this couple better than they do and that to me is just sad.

Wow Tanya bravo! That is the EXACT questions I had. It seems like nothing the writers do pleases people.
I still love chair a ton, but I do agree they could be better. But couldn't everything? I definitely think it's because they are kind of in the background and there's no real chair SL. It's more of Blair having her own SL and Chuck is just there because he's her bf. In S2 their storylines together were mostly completely involving just the two of them. So it's different now. I think that the whole Bart/Jack stuff will stir things up and they will start having bigger SL's together.
And one more thing, the lack of steamy scenes makes people think they have lost their spark. It's not like I expect to see them having sex on my screen, but I seriously don't understand why they cant give us a hot scene like the limo, 2x03, 2x07 make out, hi society. We never get to see that anymore which is really my only big problem with them.

I wanted Chair to be balanced like it was in Season 1. Not saying I want him to constantly chase her or constantly lust for her when he cant' have her. Or where she barely acknowledges his existence. But in season 1 they were even. You could clearly tell that it worked so well because they were so much like each other. Now? I'd opt to not have Chair at all. Because of Chair, Chuck became my favorite character. Now because of Chair, he's become one of my least and I sympathize with Blair a lot more than I ever did because I realize she deserves a whole lot better than what he's given her. And that's sad. And now that the novels have been ruined, I'd seriously opt to not have Chair at all. I wish the writers would explore other options.

I don't mind Chuck & Blair as they are now, though I love to see a bit more sexy once in awhile. Still imho their relationship is still evolving so what we see now and the current balance of power in the relationship isn't necessarily how it'll always be. I think there are still more good things in store for them.

i still love them a lot, but i think the writers dont know how to explore their potential. they could be doing so much better with this couple. first of all i think they should make them equal, second i miss the hot scenes, and third i want to see them being more evil.
and I sympathize with Blair a lot more than I ever did because I realize she deserves a whole lot better than what he's given her
just out of curiosity, what do you think he should give her? from what i see he is trying his best to be a supportive and good boyfriend to her. i think blair is the one who is making her life harder. she is the one who is obsessed becoming queen on NYU and doing everything she can or cant (like using her boyfriend) to get what she wants. IA that in season 2 he treated her like crap, but now?

but i have a feeling (and i hope im right) that with bart and jack coming back things we'll get better for them. bart can bring good emotional angst stuff and jack is the perfect enemy for them to take down together.

no not now. i've already stated in other posts that chuck is angelic now. i meant season 2. where it turned me off from chair. just because he's nice to her now and is perfect doesn't take away or make one forget the fuckery of season 2. nor will it make me magically get behind the idea of chair again because it's 'so nice' now. but the fuckery of season 2 is what made me stop shipping chair for good. so i was referring to that.
