Reply to PostDair fans, why do you prefer them over Chair?

I just skimmed through this thread.
Whoever said that they think Dair fans are just Chair haters is wrong.
Chair is my OTP, but Dair is my favorite AU couple.
I have no problem really with the relationship this season between Chuck and Blair directly.
It is the fact that both characters have been practically mutilated as individuals that bugs me.
Chuck, to put it bluntly, is a pussy this season. Season 1 Chuck would kick his ass.
Blair is also very weak as a character this season.
Being in a relationship does not mean that you need to change who you are. Chuck does not need to be turned into a soft ball of mush. Anyone remember the last time he was the asshole we all know is a part of him? Yeah, I don't either.
As for Blair, I get why she is insecure and I do NOT believe that Chuck is the reason for her insecurities, but season 1 Blair would be dealing with this whole NYU thing a hell of a lot better. She would have those NYU students kissing the ground she walked on by now. Like I said, weak.
And for the record, Dan sabotaging Blair with Chuck in 2x08 and him taking Georgina's side does not mean they do not mutally respect each other. Dan did what most people would probably do. You're telling me that instead of getting "revenge" for your best friend, you would help some girl you can't even really call a "friend" after finding out she screwed over your best friend? As for siding with Georgina, regardless of how nice it was to see Blair semi-scheme, it was a pretty shitty thing to do to a person. If you had seen something like that happening at a party, you'd take Blair's side? Plus, Dan genuinely wanted to help Blair and all she did was use him. I'd be pretty pissed off too.
I probably just pissed all the Chair fans off, but like you have all been saying, my opinions.

But have Chair REALLY changed as people due to this relationship?
Chuck does still act like an asshole on occasion. lol. He called Serena a trainwreck, he and Blair schemed to get rid of Carter, and at the auction he put his own needs and interests ahead of Blair's. Granted, he's grown alot as a character and alot of that has to do with Blair. In addition, I'll grant that this last episode he bordered on OOC with his little speech to Jenny and his complete focus on someone else for once (i.e., Blair.) However, even when he was trying to help Blair, he did it in such a Chuck Bass manipulative way. lol. So I don't get the "Chuck Bass is a pussy" critique at all. I see it more as him evolving as a character. However the writers DO need to be careful that they don't take it too far with him. Last episode was teetering on the brink for me.
As far as Blair goes: I don't think she's changed much at all due to her relationship with Chuck. In fact, I think that's kind of her problem. She's still as insecure and control freaky as before. Her problem is that all the ways she defined herself and the ways she got her self-esteem are gone. She's not a Queen anymore. She's not going to be a Yale alumni. She's not going to be Mrs. Nate Archibald, society wife. Of course she doesn't act like Season 1 Blair. Season 1 Blair still had all those things. Blair is at her core a total control freak. It's why she watches Breakfast at Tiffany's over and over again (because she knows how it will end.) She's facing a world with enormous uncertainty and that's freaking her the hell out. That has nothing to do with Chuck. He's really her only true source of security at the moment.

With all of it? I mean, you actually think Dan was wrong to help Vanessa and Georgina instead of Blair in those situations? Now, I'm not saying Vanessa and Georgina are angels, but in these particular situations, you would have sided with Blair on both occasions? I'm just saying that in real life, given the same situations, I personally would have chosen to help my best friend and the girl whose party was ruined for no particular reason at all.
And Meli, I know he has a soft ball of mush side to him. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd like more of a mix of who they were and who they are now instead of just a total does of one or the other. :)

I'm so sick of people blaming Chuck fo Bliar's insercurities, she's still the same but she would most certainly have dealt with the whole NYU thing better in season 1, hopefully she'll get to that as we saw at the end of the next episode :) and I HATE what they have done with Chuck this season. CB do not need to be watered down versions of themselves.

OK, first of all, Dan and Blair are not in a relationship yet, so why are people talking about them as if they are? what you need to understand is that, at this point, they are nothing but sometimes allies, and frenemies, they are NOT close enough yet to talk about how Dan is affecting her life with his judgments, blah blah blah, how he's going to change her, god this thread has veered off topic so hard, this is not comparing the merits of Dair and Chair, because that's unfair to both Dair and Chair fans, Dair fans have no actual relationship to use, all they have are what-ifs, and potential, and then you have Chair fans bringing up how Dan treated Serena and other irrelevant shit that Dair fans constantly explain away(rinse, repeat) and Chair fans will get called out for being close minded douches(whether they are, or not, and im sorry that I am at times a part of this) for being against Dair already.
CLOSE THREAD, but until that, i'll indulge a bit.

Dan has already seen under her armour, which not many people have, he's also let her under the armour he puts up around her, and despite whatever hate they might have for eachother, they've managed to help eachother through certain things
