Dair fans, why do you prefer them over Chair?

"You are contradicting your own argument."
Not really, i've stated before how while they've had those moments, they really haven't become too close, so they don't really affect eachother's life too much, although in 1x04, and 2x08 for example, they did, and those are moments, however brief, where the revealing what was under their armour to eachother and such happened.
"imply: to indicate or suggest without being explicitly stated
Synonyms: assume"
I understood what you meant, and I obviously thought you were wrong, what I was saying was that nothing was implied about how Dan really felt about Blair in those moments, and that they aren't really close enough for either to matter too much yet.
We haven't had a storyline where Dan or Blair actually really acknowledge their feelings toward eachother, only 1x04 comes close, really.

IF he just said those little words. he didn't. he couldn't. for whatever reason. the second that it became clear that basically, despite all that he's done, she STILL followed him around without question clearly displayed power. he had it. she didn't. and that's just ridiculous to ship a relationship like that. i'm not a masochist so i'll never understand it.
I thought it Chuck who followed HER around trying to sabotage her relationship with Marcus. I must've misunderstood. Obviously she had the power in the beginning of s2, and if it wasnt b/c Marcus had an affair with his stepmom, would she have gone back to Chuck???
again, chuck had control the entire season. it was a big giant cat and mouse game that SHE was semi forced to play if she wanted any chance with chuck. it was obvious that chuck bass just didn't 'do' relationships. he didn't want to be conventional. though i do like the fact that he sort of had to be in order to be in a real relationship with her, cause at least blair held her ground about something. i just didn't want to see all of the pointless shit. and just because you understand it and for some reason liked it, don't mean that others follow suit. i've seen plenty of chair fans who acknowledged that some parts were extremely effed up but still shipped them anyway. those chair fans i like. they think outside the box. and fyi, the entire season had been about getting chuck to say it. even in the later season 2 episodes, where blair was 'with' nate but still after chuck to say it. if that's not 'asking' i don't know what is.
Remind me again when Chuck asked her to say ILY by his limo, or Blair ask him to say it by, again, his limo. That's the ILY I'm talking about, not the ones that were asked but never said. They tried to pull the words out of each other's mouths, but it didnt work, until they came out on their own. It may or may not have made sense to you, but the whole "asking" for the ILY in s2 was purely for audience sake, not entirely for character development. It kept us Chair fans still stringing along, whether we enjoyed it or not, so as a writer, the startegy worked.
i never said i wanted blair to have 'all the power'. i just don't want her to continually degrade herself day in and day out over 'love' or anything in relation to it. it's not really fair. the big thing that chuck had to overcome was his own complex about relationships. which in hindsight, he got the girl so it seems like a fair trade right? blair on the other hand, only has an entire season worth of humiliation to overcome. no big deal. if you like that sort of thing.
Humiliation because she learned she can't have the world at her feet is not degrading. And I would rather have her fight to get the guy she wants, than just let her give up and go for the next one that comes near her. I love Blair, but if there's anything degrading about her, is that she always has to have a boyfriend, even if they're not the right guys for her. At least with Chuck she was "degrading" herself for someone she actually loved, not just someone she had to have. Chuck had it bad himself also, but he only lost the chance to have a family. But since it was in the name of "family" love, it's no big deal.
if you can see dan and serena (which you had) you can see this. most importantly, if you see chuck and blair (which you do) you can see that. this argument is so moot.
Blair acts differently with Chuck than she did with other guys. Dan acts the same with every girl he's been with.
blair is judgemental. blair is snobby. and blair (well the old blair at least) dont give a shit if you see things her way. either she will force it, or you simply don't matter. so i guess she and dan are a like after all huh?
And tell me how all of those similarities will be healthy in a relationship? They will agree to disagree???????
if dan can overcome what georgina sparks has done to him and his relationship with s, then i seriously don't see how him getting with blair is such a stretch of the imagination. this season alone proved that dan is coming around. a lot better than he was in season 2 and light years better than season one. and the fact that blair sort of leans on him in college now, proves she's making progress too. face it, the two have more in common than just serena now. and with the rumored take down of georgina coming soon, they'll have a lot more. it's not a stretch anymore. sure these reasons you listed might be obstacles, but nothing that they can't overcome. i mean she got the almighty chuck bass to say he loved her right? she can do anything.
Dan and georgina are not good references for Dan's case. Even if it wasnt just a coy from the writers to keep us gasping and whispering WTF, then I would say that he had worse judgment than I thought. Even Chuck knew to run away from Georgina. It doesnt mean that he is able to see past all the things he thinks are bad, but just that he's horny and stupid. I'm not saying they can't grow closer as friends, but to jump from that to a relationship, THAT I don't see happening, despite seeing DS, NB, CV, or DG.
i thought that chuck and blair were a lot a like. i get what she liked about him and i get what he liked about her. but i still thought overall, it was cause they were a lot alike. much like dan and blair are. one of the big reasons that blair is such a hit like she is is because she's relatable. i'd say that with nate, she probably had the least in common. but with dan or chuck, i think they have a whole mot more. and please, money don't equate in this by any means. chances are rufus and lily won't tie the knot so money won't be an issue.
well then there's no reason for Dair fans to explain how he won't be judgmental anymore since he'll come into new money. Which is why I said that, of course. And like I said, money or no money, he'll still be judgmental. And even if Blair can get Dan to fall for her, which I don't doubt, I don't see her falling for him. The reason for the fighting from Blair's side was because Chuck was worth it to her, and the reason she got the Great Chuck Bass to say ILY, even against the writers' will, is because she was worth it to him.

I'll be frank. I didn't read any of this, except for some of FA's posts because I can count on him to bring something called sanity, and in case there was some crazy Chair fan freaking over Dair.. well, I don't want to risk it.
What I want from Dair is something simple. I want Dan to get a wake-up call. I want the post-sex awkward morning-after. I want the post-sex Blair, flustered around Chuck to keep it a secret. I want the crazy awkwardness (I'm repeating myself, I know) and hilarity that ensues afterwards. I want this. I need this. This is my crack.
I don't want Dair endgame; honestly, I just don't think, as a couple, they'd do well. As a fling, fine. As a one-night-stand, fine. As a couple? I just can't grasp that. That's just my opinion.
I don't want the repeat of Chair, where they slept together and Dan develops feelings and Blair hides them and then they fuck a lot and they fall in love because, fuck it, I'm over that - we got that already from Chair, and that would defeat the purpose of Dair being new and fresh.
I'm not making much sense because I'm tired, but hopefully some of you caught my drift.

Look, no one here can provide a substantial argument as to why Dair would be better than Chair. THERE IS A REASON CHAIR IS SO POPULAR! Dan and Blair may be polar opposites and perhaps it worked for Seth and Summer in The OC; but people THIS IS GOSSIP GIRL! Blair is all about structure, hierarchy, order - everything needs to be perfect for her otherwise she can't function properly. CHUCK IS HER OTHER HALF! The male version of Blair. They are strong and powerful on their own, but when they are together; they are DYNAMITE! They are an unstoppable force. Hottnest exudes from their pores. There is no better couple on TV. They are a supercouple.
On the contrary, Dan could not be anymore WRONG FOR HER! He is everything she can't stand; and vice versa. They could not get along; I wouldn't find their awkwardness after a drunken one night stand 'funny'; but rather....awkward. I don't think as ACTORS they would be able to even make that work. Just face it - Dan and Blair can never and WILL NEVER be anything more than they already are...acquaintences who love to hate each other.

Rabid Chair fan.

I'd like to also add that I for one, don't want them to be endgame. I do want them to have sex, I want there to be akward morning after talks. I want funny, I need funny. Give me funny and sex and I'll be happy. And as Emilee said, I do NOT wan't them to go down the Chair road. They wouldn't be Chair, they would probably combust after awhile, but it would be worth it,
And I'm getting bored of Chair and their weird/uneventful conversastions. I sctually was more interested in all the other Sl's in 3x05 than Chair. And that's why I wouldn't mind Dair. Because Chair is getting really boring to me.

Again you bring the sanity, I too don't really wish for endgame for Dair, not for the reasons you do though, as I respectfully disagree with you when you say they can't work as a couple, because IMO they really can, what I do think about that though is that, the writers would not ever right them properly as a couple, so I certainly would be happy with what you described, hell, even just a good, snarky, friendship at NYU, where they have morning coffee together and become study buddies(I hate that term).

This is one of the most ignorant posts i've ever seen on this forum, and a total strawman argument.
In b4 Kaliiix07 comes in here and accuses me of being a douche who doesn't accept others opinions.

I have literally seen this argument made dozens of times before, my brain will explode if I even attempt to counter it again.
Also, purplerains on ONTD is a fucking whore.

oh, now just because people dont agree with your opinion about something does it mean they are not sane? lmao. , and no way im freaking over dair, i know they will probably happen at some point, because it's gossip girl we're talking about, and as much as i love chair is just a tv show, my life wont end, i'll be sad? probably, but i always have the choice to stop watching the show. and you can count on FA being sanity? a person who doesnt know to accept other people opinnion and is always acting like he is superior? thank god im not included in the same category of him
