because she was the only female on the show with class and substance. she might have had her insecurities but they weren't as bad as they are now that she's with chuck.

i dont think blair is more insecure now because she is with chuck. i think it has to do with her going to college. she used to be queen in high school, now she is no one in NYU, seriously, she would be the same way even if she wasnt dating chuck

I just don't see how her insecurities about not fitting in at NYU are because of Chuck. The only thing I've seen is him being supportive and encouraging her.

I feel like the insecurities she is having now is an attempt by the writers to cause more drama for her. I don't think she got them because she is now dating Chuck and he somehow made her that way.

And in season 2 I didn't feel like she put up with everything he did to her. I thought she stood up for herself a lot of times.

she had one moment in season 2 that made me proud, and that was when she told him she was done playing 'their game'. but other than that, she just did a lot of things that were unbecoming to how she was portrayed in season 1. like for example, when she more or less agreed that they weren't 'ready' for a relationship during the preet a poor j episode. it wasn't about her being ready. it was about him. she's done nothing in her personal past to reflect that she wouldn't know how to love a guy like chuck bass or be with him. i felt like she let him off the hook a lot more than she should have too. because he did some pretty horrible shit and no i don't buy the daddy death card excuse either because his behavior had been the exact same as it always has been. it's just ridiculous.

i'm not an anti chair fan though enough to be bitter at the thought that they are together. nor do i hate them THAT much.. i really don't lol i'm just a fan who's been turned off and just wish it didn't happen the way that it did.

I am so glad someone posted this thread! I've been wanting to talk about this for a while. I agree with most of the things people have said, but I'll still put in my $.02.

I think Chuck did the right thing. His methods were misguided, but his intentions were good. He only wanted to help Blair. His speech was Chuck Bass' way of saying, "Blair, you don't need to rule high school, or even NYU. You're better than any of those people and you convinced the most heartless person to admit he loves you, so you can make it at NYU." He was just telling her how special she is and that she shouldn't give up.

Chuck's trying to help Blair be more secure; I just wish she would listen to him. That's why I don't know how else he was going to get her attention besides sending a GG blast that he was at the movies with Jenny. He tried to tell her that she needs to let go of high school, but she went off and did her own thing anyway. He even paid the photographer to take her picture so she would see that she was picture-worthy and that the PRESS cares that she's Blair Waldorf.

And honestly, I like season 2 Blair a lot better than season 1 Blair. I watched the first 3 episodes of GG when it first came out, and I stopped watching because I absolutely hated Blair in episodes 2 and 3. Her Poison Ivy stunt was just too cruel for me. It wasn't until recently that I watched the rest of the episodes and saw that there's more to Blair than her bitchy outer shell. Maybe some people think Blair was whiny in season 2; I think she was just more vulnerable and more human, and I liked that Blair a lot better.

Well I can understand how you feel. I'm not happy either about everything in season 2, but I still don't think it was so awful that I can't ship them anymore.

But I think there were some other moments too. Like her refusing to say it to him in 2x07 and 2x08, and also rejecting him in the elevator scene in 2x15.

i think i could have handled it more if she had her own side s/l that didn't involve chuck. kind of like the elle debacle for chuck except minus the retardation of it all. or maybe if she had gotten with nate on their own terms without chuck being somehow involved. or maybe if they had gradually gravitated towards each other instead of it being forced and one sided at times. but somewhere in between the dark night and the moment chuck slept with vanessa, it just got wayyy too stupid for me.

I think the fact that she told Chuck she wouldn't be with him unless he said he loved her showed that she wasn't just going to go running back to him after he hurt her. He had to give her a really good reason to be with him. I think she kept her dignity that way.

It got stupid for me between 2x16 and 2x20. Chuck with Elle was just absolutely ridiculous. That was also around the time that Dan slept with Ms. Carr and Blair screwed up all hope of getting into Yale. I just can't watch those episodes anymore.

yeah she did. just long enough for her to go sleep with carter and go crazy for five minutes. but then she lost a little for me again when she was with nate but still pining after chuck and asking him every episode ' just say those words and i'll dump nate'. yess this among other things are the reasons i keep stating that everything was basically all about chuck. especially things that shouldn't have been.
