Reply to PostSeason 2: Not as Good as Season 1?

I've been reading a lot of posts lately saying how they feel Season 2 is currently sucking and that it is nothing compared to Season 1. I personally think that, yes, Season 2 actually is starting to get a bit suck-ish. I don't know, but I'm thinking that it's the Josh Schwartz "can't-make-a-show-interesting-after-first-season" sickness coming back again (e.g The O.C). Truth be told. I only watch GG for two reasons now: the clothes and C/B. Seriously, if there was no C/B, I wouldn't really be tuning in every week and looking for every itsy bitsy spoiler night after night. I do have to admit that I wasn't really that much interested in Season 1 as well, I sorta just watched the show just because, and then I started to like the show at the start of season two because of C/B action, but now GG storylines are just draggy, and a little bit, boring. It's like season 2 is trying SOO hard to be "scandalous" and "shocking" that it ends up feeling rushed. I mean, I understand season 1 was more shallow and definitely meant to be a guilty pleasure, and that season 2 is deeper and more dramatic. But, think about it, with Bart dying this season, writers dragging C/B on for god knows how long, D/S on-offs, Jenny up and down spiral, Carter Baizen and Georgina coming back, Eleanor getting married, Serena arrested, Blair lashing out, I mean, doesn't all of this seem so rushed? I get it too that Season1 seems more interesting because it actually DID revolve around something, but, really, what is happening to GG, you guys think it's going to end up like The O.C? I CERTAINLY HOPE NOT.:(

Oh yeah, not to mention, chuck's eyes wide shut thing, total let down. I also think that the clothes are starting to get a little ick for me as each episode unfolds. I mean, sure, there are a few interesting clothing here and there, but some I do feel are a little blah, especially the one GEORGINA is supposed to be wearing in the set pictures, i iono, is Eric Daman losing his touch too?! I mean, in Season 1, I totally fell in love with EVERYONE's outfit, but this season, it's like, ooookkkayy, maybe I shouldnt be judging, because i am not a fashion stylist after all, but still. Oh yeah, and do you notice how Chuck keeps on wearing suits now, I loved his wardrobe in season 1, but maybe it's just part of his character "growing uP", oh yeah, and I definitely think the chuck bass in season 1 was way more fun and chuck bass-y than this season, but again, growing up.
SO SORRY FOR VERY LONG POSTS, I REALLY HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SAY ALL OF THIS IN FORUMS BUT COULDNT FIND THE RIGHT TOPIC TO DO IT, PLEASE 4GIVE ME:D

I totally agree with you! i watch the show for the C/B action, i have been so dissapointed with the second half of season 2 because it just does not have that exciting of plots. I have been watching all the past episodes for the hope of chuck and blair getting together but they just seem to get farther apart. The plots in the first season seem more realistic than this season two. Come on, secret society? Rufus and lily dating less than a month after bart died? and why the hell is chuck not in school? They need to be a a little more realistic and follow through on plots. Chuck and Blair dominated the first half of the season and now they don't even appear in the same scenes together. I just hope after this long break the writers get back to the gossip girl we loved in the first season and please get chuck and blair together before the end of the season because i cant last the summer wondering if they will get together in the third season. End the freakin chase already and let them be together! it was cool at first but now it is just annoying.

season 1 had way better storylines... the show took a major turn for the worst when it got all dark with Bart's death..... doing 3 or 4 episodes that were mainly about Chuck, and not even fun chuck but woe is me i iz a orphan chuck, was a majorly bad idea...
plus everyone looked better in season 1. 0_0 chuck & jenny had much much better hair cuts for one..

Season 1 had better storylines,jenny looked like a normal girl, not having that raccon makeup and look like an 20 years girl not a 15 years girl.
But when you will rewatch the 2nd season you'll se that it isn't so worse...It isn't so good like the 1st but not worse

actually the season two started in a good track, but since Bart's death it kind of went downhill.
seriously the eyes wide shut scenario?? I really hate Serena's character.

I'm rewatching season 2, and blairbie is right: it was very good up until Bart Bass dying. Actually, it was good up until the elevator scene, from then it has been worst evrey week

I think that Season 2 was amazing up until episode 16. And guess what happened at the end of ep 15? C/B were done! So it got bad when C/B had no scenes. Shocker, right?
The show needs C/B to be good.
