Serena's Maturity

Is it just be or is Serena one of the only characters who hasn't grown at all? Her immaturity with Blair in the last episode just proves it. She came back at the start of the series wanting to be a better person...but it doesnt really seem like she is. I'm not trying to flame her, don't get me wrong I think she does have good intenions sometimes, and I used to be a huge Derena fan...but now I just dont know. And what happened to finding her father?

I agree about her immaturity. For example when Blair sent her fake boyfriend away and she got all bitchy like Blair did it just to upset her, even though Blair said like five times that he's disorderly levels of drunk. If Blair's lying then when you call/find him it will be apparent that he is NOT CRAZY DRUNK, so why would Blair lie about that? And her getting all Hulk about being called a whore? Even by the end of Season 1 Serena just rolled her eyes when she did that because it was always just Blair lashing out when Blair was hurt or something. Plus in this case she's doin' it for money. She went as far as to tell Blair that he was her real boyfriend and he's "very attentive," um if he's your real boyfriend you're probably sleeping with him (it's Serena) and if you're being paid to do that that's called whoring.

She found her father, he wanted nothing to do with her. Remember Carter being all who is he to reject you or some stuff like that I don't really remember before they had sex in the woods after she stole the horse?

Exactly...just as Chuck said, Serena should know her best friend and the way she works by now. And Blair was only trying to help Chuck and Nate out, she didn't do it just to attack Serena. Blair also had every right to last out after the cake thing....

but in every fight they've had Blair has been a doormat, and I'm glad to see that end.

Oh okay...I guess that plot was over so fast then? I thought maybe they'd make use of her father later, to get between Lily and Serena, or even Lily and Rufus, but I guess they;ve already played long-lost family card.

I don't think Serena is the one of the only characters who hasn't grown at all, all the characters are in the process and apparently Chuck is the only one who jumped all this which is very rare.

I don´t get why people say than now Blair is more mature and all when all this season shows otherwise, she really think than always insulting S is not going to cause problems? the girl has a limit and call her whore/slut/prostitute is very low, shove blair in the cake was inmature but I think blair deserved. And just because you know how she's one should be condescending to her? Blair should think more before acting. If Blair had said how she felt about Serena all the fight had not happened but GG needs drama and the best way? breaking s&b friendsip

Okay, this may just be me being insensitive, but I've been called a whore/slut/what-have-you before. Yeah, it sucks, but for someone like Serena who has been called that before, it doesn't make sense for her to suddenly lash out like that.

It doesn't warrant her to suddenly try and publicly humiliate her already insecure best friend... especially when Blair said nothing that wasn't true.

i agree with most of what is been written already. and i am not biased cause i don't like serena. serena would still be my favorite character like she had been in season 1 and early season two if she hadn't changed so much. everything that she was in season one is such a contradiction now. she's no longer that girl who wanted to change. she's a younger reincarnation of her mother. meaning well but making the wrong decisions while being too quick to be a bitch about it admist getting with a lot of different men. as far as maturity goes. she hadn't matured. it was confirmed when she randomly and ooc decided to act out against GG because she was labled 'irrelevant.'

blair had that same air of maturity (wise beyond her years) that chuck has. but now i don't think she's displaying that anymore. in season two when she decided not to act out against miss carr, the one person who deserved it, was a good solid step into maturity. but this season has seen blair completely throw that maturity out the window. so i'll give you that. but if we're talking on a 'seasonal' basis, then sorry to say but blair beats serena on maturity on any given day of the week. as far as the fight goes... how it started was no more blair's fault than serena's. i already pointed out that serena's part in it made her look petty and hypocritical. and other people have said that 18 years, she should know how blair operates now. i'm not excusing blair though, what i am really trying to say is that the set up itself was ridiculous. though i can't say that i blame blair too much. or serena for that matter. it seems yet another season another reason blair and serena have to fight. i still find it weird though how serena fights harder now than she did in season 1. grant it, she was clearly in the wrong for sleeping with nate. but back then she didn't seem to care about the flame war. in saying that the fight they had in early season 2 kind of seemed out of place to me. it came so soon after the njbc moment in season 1 when they were all there for serena, blair especially. and serena basically shat all over that in the serena also rises episode. kind of the start of the downward spiral of shit that i call serena's character now. but that's just my opinion.

I also agree that Blair hasn't really matured this season. She wasn't as whiny this episode, but she still hasn't let go of her minions or her need to be queen. I think the writers could easily write something for Blair to be in charge of and still have it mature her character, like having her compete for president of a prestigious academic society or something.

As for Serena, I gave her maturity points for taking a job and making her own decisions, but I don't think she's really matured at all. She actually was working really hard, but I agree with Blair when she said that Serena was living in her own world. I liked how it was a reference to 1x13 when Serena called Blair out on living in her perfect little world, except the roles were reversed this time. I also subtracted maturity points when she started dating one of her clients just so she could keep her job. Serena just needs a big wake-up call b/c this soul-searching she's trying to do right now is not working.

she's a younger reincarnation of her mother.

Completely agree. Lily at least went to college and Serena might in the future, but if she continues going down the path she's on right now, she won't be going to Brown for a while. And now that she quit her job with KC, she'll probably just go back to partying because she doesn't have anything else to do. I've always predicted that Serena will end up just being a socialite just like her mother.

these UES kids are all gonna end up like socialite.

do you see Blair working as an auditor or business analyst?

and S is not gonna start partying because she's bored. she'll look for another job. thats the great thing about being 18, isn't it?

that you can jump from a job to a job and take in all the experiences

@ headbandwhore I'll say that I've been called a whore/slut before and really it's never bugged me because that's just a randomly chosen insulting word if you're not one. It's no more a big deal to me than being called fat (which I'm not either) or dumb or any other thing that I'm not that someone who is pissed with me might say I am. I think the reason that got Serena to the point that she slammed Blair's face in a cake is that what she was saying was true, at that time. The insults that hurt are the true ones.
