taylor momsen's career...

...is clearly helping in promoting GG. it's obviously great advertising for the show, while she appears on MTV, Letterman, was on Warped Tour and is promoting Madonna's line. she doesn't even plug GG in her interviews (WHICH IS GOOD), everyone knows where she's from.
i'm guessing that "Make Me Wanna Die", beside the fact that it fits the theme of vampires, is in TVD 2nd promo (this isn't hidden plugging whatsoever) because CW wants to promote her as well. it's hardly possible for it to be a coincidence.
and good for Taylor too, she's doing extremely well in the market, and clearly GG is mutually helping her in getting up the ladder - even if she doesn't want it. on the other hand, most of the main cast does a lot of promoting like this.

i expect in turn GG may be good for her career as well, as some of her songs may be featured on GG. Although it didnt really work for Leighton Meester. Then again, no offence to L, but her music is kind of bollocks anyway.

When I first heard Bette Davis Eyes, I thought Leighton's voice was great but all her songs have been so auto-tuned at teched up that it just sounds like a load of crap. I much prefer Taylor's music and she's definitely bringing in lots of publicity for GG at the same time.

yeah, i wnated to like Leighton's music but I can't respect an artists music if its autotuned. I can respect pop music without liking it, for example (though there are few pop acts that I actually respect) but it feels like Leighton is trying to do this actress/singer thing that pisses me off. Taylor's music is quality, I'll concede, but its not really my taste, It's a bit too generic-goth music for me.

I love love love her music and i know alot of people who do to. When she is in the interviews it is normally the interviewer that brings gossip girl up whichi really like.

Leighton's music imo is such a fail, maybe if it wasn't so auto-tuned I would like it more. In one of her songs, the girl sound like friggin Kesha and believe me that is no compliment. the first time I heard Leighton was working on an album I was exited but once she released her music I realized what total shit it is. That's not a direct insult to Leigh, because I know all the LM fans will be down my throat saying how she's so awesome and I do think that if you take out all that tech crap she would sound good, but I also hate how she's doing the whole actress/singer thing.

I don't want to bash Leighton, but the songs she's released are a million miles away from the music she's said she loves. I remember seeing an interview where she said she was into Kings of Leon. Yet she comes out with cheesy pop songs. It feels like she's chasing the Benjamins rather than her passion.
I kinda like Taylor's music. It's far from perfect, it feels like she's still searching for her sound and is a little too reverential to her influences. But she's young and very talented. I think she'll get there if she keeps writing and writing.
It's worth noting that the show has been very good to her by letting her take the time out to pursue her music career. There's a benefit to the show for that too, but I think the benefit is outweighed by the fact that Jenny will be missing. I can't help thinking though, that it was a little unfair to make a 13 year old (as she was at the time) sign up for 6 years of doing the same full-time job. So actually it's probably only right that Taylor gets a little more leeway to pursue outside interests.
Long post. sorry.

I love pop music to death but fucking hated that shit leighton put out.
pop music is supposed to be fun and catchy and almost euphoric, it makes you want to dance when your sad and let you escape to happier place where your troubles don't exist. THAT is what good pop music does to you, leightons music did absolutely none of the above, it wasn't catchy or fun and it screamed 'trying to hard'. tbh, anyone who liked that shit doesn't deserve ears.
